Yankee StadiumSeating Guide: Where to Sit & Best Seats

Yankee Stadium, opened in 2009 in the Bronx, is the home of MLB's New York Yankees and the interim home of MLS side New York City FC, and it regularly stages major concerts and college-football fixtures such as the Pinstripe Bowl. Seating is arranged across a two-bowl design: the lower bowl comprises the Field Level (including the ultra-premium Legends Suite seats in the first rows) and the Main Level (the 200s), while the upper bowl is formed by the Terrace Level and Grandstand Level (the 300s and 400s), with luxury suites on the H&R Block Level between them and bleachers beyond the outfield fences. The best views are from the Field Level infield close to home plate, while the Main Level infield corners (around sections 213, 214, 223 and 224) and the Terrace Level offer the best value with similar sight lines at a fraction of the price. Around two-thirds of the seating sits in the lower bowl, and most lower-level seats benefit from shade and rain cover thanks to the overhang of the level above.

Configurations

MLB baseball (New York Yankees)

The stadium's primary configuration. The full bowl is open with the diamond oriented so that home plate sits beneath the press level. Field Level wraps around the infield and into the outfield corners; bleachers sit beyond the outfield fences in sections 201-204 and 235-238. Protective netting extends from behind home plate down both foul lines. Standard seated capacity is approximately 46,537, rising to around 52,325 with standing room.

Football / soccer (New York City FC, MLS)

NYCFC has used Yankee Stadium as an interim home since 2015 (pending the opening of Etihad Park). The pitch is laid over the infield and outfield, measuring roughly 110 by 70 yards — among the smallest in MLS. The supporters' sections sit in the bleacher area, around sections 235-238. Corner Main Level sections (around 205, 206, 233 and 234) can have sharper viewing angles for the rectangular pitch than they do for baseball.

College / American football

Yankee Stadium has hosted the annual Pinstripe Bowl since 2010, plus rivalry games such as Army-Notre Dame. A temporary gridiron is laid across the field; sideline seating on the Field and Main Levels gives the closest views, while end-zone and outfield-corner seats are further from the action.

Concerts

For stadium concerts a stage is typically erected at one end (commonly the outfield/centre-field end), with general-admission or reserved seating added on the field. Sight lines and recommended sections depend on the production and stage position; seats directly behind or to the extreme side of the stage may be restricted, so check the event-specific map before booking.

Seating levels explained

Field Level (Lower Bowl, incl. Legends Suite)

Field Level infield sections approximately 103-136; Legends Suite seats in the front rows behind home plate and the dugouts

The lowest tier, wrapping from behind home plate around both foul lines and into the outfield corners. The first eight or so rows of the infield form the all-inclusive Legends Suite, among the most expensive seats in professional sport.

Pros: Closest to the action; excellent infield sight lines; the rear rows tuck under the 200-Level overhang for shade and rain cover.

Cons: Premium and Legends pricing is very high near home plate; outfield-corner Field Level sections have sharper angles.

Main Level (200 Level)

Approximately sections 205-217 (home-plate to first-base side) and 223-234 (third-base side)

The second tier of the lower bowl, sitting just above and behind the Field Level. Sections 205-217 run from behind the home dugout around the first-base line; 223-234 mirror them on the third-base side.

Pros: Elevated yet still close; strong value at the corners (around 213, 214, 223, 224); largely shaded under the level above.

Cons: Outfield-corner sections have angled views; some far-corner seats face the action obliquely.

Terrace Level (300 Level)

Approximately the 300-numbered sections (e.g. around 312 and 328 for value)

The lower part of the upper bowl, above the suites. Offers a high, panoramic view of the whole field at modest prices.

Pros: Good value; full-field perspective; covered toward the rear; sections around 312 and 328 are often recommended.

Cons: Noticeably further from the field; steeper rake; some restricted views where supports or the deck edge intrude.

Grandstand Level (400 Level)

Approximately the 400-numbered sections, seats typically 1-22 per row

The highest seating tier, ringing the top of the upper bowl. The most affordable reserved seats in the stadium.

Pros: Cheapest reserved tickets; elevated overview of play; sheltered toward the back rows.

Cons: Greatest distance from the field; highest rows are well removed from the action and the steepest in the venue.

Bleachers

Sections approximately 201-204 and 235-238 beyond the outfield fences

Outfield bench/seating beyond the fences, including the home-run-catching areas and (for soccer) the NYCFC supporters' sections.

Pros: Affordable; lively, partisan atmosphere; closest to outfield home-run action.

Cons: No clear view into some areas (e.g. the bullpens block sight lines from certain bleacher rows); furthest from the infield; can be a rowdier environment.

Seats to avoid & obstructed views

  • Outfield-corner Main Level sections around 205, 206, 233 and 234: Sharp, angled viewing — particularly poor sight lines for the rectangular pitch at NYCFC soccer matches.
  • Certain bleacher rows behind the bullpens: The bullpens obstruct the view of parts of the outfield/field from some bleacher seats.
  • Highest rows of the Grandstand Level (400s): Greatest distance from the field, steep rake and an elevated, removed perspective on the action.
  • Seats directly behind or to the extreme side of the stage at concerts: Restricted or side/rear-of-stage views depending on the production; some may be sold as limited-view or not at all.
  • Far outfield-corner Field Level sections: Although close to the field, the oblique angle into the infield makes following play across the diamond harder.

The stadium also offers accessible parking, lifts/ramps and accessible restrooms. Always confirm specific provisions for non-baseball events (NYCFC, concerts) as layouts change.

Where: Wheelchair and companion spaces are distributed throughout the Field, Main, Terrace and Grandstand Levels rather than confined to one area, so accessible patrons can choose price and location; the booking system automatically prompts the correct number of companion tickets.

Frequently asked questions

What are the best seats at Yankee Stadium?

For the best overall view, the Field Level infield close to home plate and the dugouts — including the all-inclusive Legends Suite — is unbeatable. For the best balance of view and price, target the Main Level corners around sections 213, 214, 223 and 224, or the Terrace Level around 312 and 328, which offer comparable sight lines at a fraction of the cost.

Where are the cheapest seats at Yankee Stadium?

The most affordable reserved seats are in the Grandstand Level (the 400s) high in the upper bowl, along with the outfield bleachers. These give an elevated view of the whole field for the lowest prices, though they sit furthest from the action.

Where do away or supporters' fans sit at NYCFC matches?

New York City FC's supporters' sections are located in the bleacher area, around sections 235-238, which is the loudest, most atmospheric part of the ground on matchday. Visiting-supporter allocations for specific fixtures are set per match, so check the event map.

Is Yankee Stadium accessible for wheelchair users?

Yes. The stadium provides wheelchair spaces with companion seats and ambulant/transfer-accessible seating at multiple price points across every level, plus accessible parking, lifts and restrooms. Book via the Yankees' site or Ticketmaster's accessible-seating filter, or by phone through Disabled Services (approximately +1 718-579-4510).

Which seats at Yankee Stadium are shaded or covered?

Most lower-level seats are shaded and protected from rain by the overhang of the level above — the rear rows of the Field Level tuck under the 200 Level, and much of the Main Level is covered. The back rows of the Terrace and Grandstand Levels and the standing-room areas are also sheltered. Open bleacher and lower front-row seats get the most direct sun.

Are there obstructed or restricted-view seats?

Some bleacher seats behind the bullpens have blocked views of parts of the field, the outfield-corner Main Level sections (around 205, 206, 233, 234) are sharply angled — especially for soccer — and seats behind or beside a concert stage can be restricted. Protective netting also runs behind home plate and down the foul lines for baseball.

What is the capacity of Yankee Stadium?

The standard seated capacity is approximately 46,537, rising to around 52,325 when standing-room tickets are included. Capacity varies by configuration for soccer, football and concerts.
