Monza during Formula 1's Italian Grand Prix weekend is one of the busiest stops on the calendar, and staying nearby means planning around a circuit set inside a huge historic park rather than a compact city centre. None of the 24 hotels we list are walkable to the gates, so every stay involves some kind of transfer, whether by shuttle, bus or a longer drive. The closest option sits just 3.41 kilometres from the circuit, in the Monza area itself, which has the largest cluster of hotels and suits fans who want the shortest run to the gates each morning. Milan offers more rooms and a proper city base for those keen to combine the race with sightseeing, though distances stretch out to nearly 15 kilometres. Smaller towns like Cesano Maderno, Basiglio, Limbiate and Cologno Monzese each have a single hotel, useful fallback options if the main areas fill first. Race weekend pulls a big international crowd, and rooms close to the circuit tend to book out well before September, so early planning pays off.

When to book

The Gran Premio d'Italia runs from 4 to 6 September 2026, with the main race on 6 September. None of the 24 hotels listed are within walking distance, so book early and settle your transfer plan first. Monza's 14 hotels go fastest given their proximity, starting from 3.41 kilometres out, so lock in a room there well ahead of race weekend.

Map: Autodromo Nazionale Monza and the listed hotels

Getting to Autodromo Nazionale Monza

Reaching Monza during Grand Prix weekend takes planning, since the circuit sits inside a large park. Trains from Milan on the S8, S9 and S11 lines reach Monza station in around 20 minutes, but the station is 5 to 6.6 kilometres from the circuit, so onward transport is needed. The official Black Shuttle links the station with Monza Park near Gate G, while Milan Metro Line 1 to Sesto 1 Maggio FS connects with the Z221 bus toward Vedano or Biassono. Car parks sit between half a kilometre and five kilometres out, bookable via Monza Mobilità. Taxis and NCC cars use drop-off points like Via Toscana in Biassono. Milan's airports have no direct rail link, so travellers change at a Milan station first. A final walk of ten to twenty minutes to the grandstands is typical.

rail

Train to Monza station then onward transfer

Monza railway station is reached from Milan via the suburban S8, S9 and S11 lines in around 20 minutes, but the station itself is roughly 5 to 6.6 kilometres from the circuit so a further bus, shuttle or walk is needed. Trenord also runs special additional services and a combined Train plus Black Shuttle ticket during the Grand Prix weekend.

bus

Black Shuttle links station to Gate G

The official Black Shuttle bus connects Monza Railway Station with Monza Park near Gate G, departing from the Porta Castello side of the station and running throughout the Grand Prix weekend. The shuttle terminus leaves a further short walk of a few hundred metres to reach the gate.

bus

Z221 bus via Milan Metro Line 1

Spectators can take Milan Metro Line 1 to Sesto 1 Maggio FS and then transfer onto the Z221 bus, which serves Monza and stops close to circuit entrances such as Vedano or Biassono. This is a cheaper public transport alternative that is integrated with Milan's local ticketing.

parking

Official car parks around the park perimeter

Multiple official car parks lie between roughly half a kilometre and five kilometres from the circuit, bookable in advance through the Monza Mobilità service, with some areas within walking distance and others linked by shuttle bus such as the Blue and Purple services. Cars and motorbikes cannot enter the Autodromo itself during the event.

road closure

General traffic barred from the park during the event

Throughout the Grand Prix weekend the roads inside Monza Park are closed to general traffic and public cars and motorcycles cannot enter the Autodromo itself, so drivers are directed to designated external car parks. Normal local traffic arrangements around the circuit are also heavily modified for the event.

rideshare

Taxis and NCC vehicles use designated drop off points

During the event, taxis and chauffeur driven cars are not allowed inside the circuit and must set passengers down at designated points such as Via Toscana in Biassono, from where visitors continue on foot to the nearest gate. Getting a return taxi or Uber straight after the event can be difficult near the gates, so pre-booking a pickup from a nearby town is recommended.

airport

No direct rail link from Milan's airports

Milan is served by three airports, Malpensa, Linate and Bergamo, but none has a direct train service to the circuit, so travellers must change at a Milan station before continuing to Monza. Malpensa is around fifty kilometres from the circuit and Bergamo around forty kilometres, with coach and rail connections available onward via Milan.

walk

Final approach on foot from station or shuttle drop off

Whichever route spectators take, a final walk of around ten to twenty minutes is typical from the shuttle drop off point or station to the grandstands, since Monza Park is one of the largest parks in Europe. Some visitors report the walk from the train station itself can take about an hour if no bus or shuttle is used.
