Pet friendly hotels in Venice

60+ pet friendly 3 to 5 star hotels with a confirmed pet policy, all on free cancellation rates.

A Venice dog outing can involve a boat as well as a walk. Cannaregio has Parco Savorgnan's fenced dog area, while Murano and Giudecca offer designated spaces on other islands. Pet friendly hotels in Venice are therefore part of a distinctly lagoon shaped itinerary, where ACTV's lead and muzzle rules matter before boarding a vaporetto.

The most pet friendly areas to stay are Cannaregio, Dorsoduro, Castello, Santa Croce. Pick your dates below to see live prices for pet friendly rooms across Venice.

Travelling to Venice with a pet

Can dogs travel on Venice's vaporetto water buses?+

Yes. ACTV admits dogs on water buses with a muzzle, either on a lead or held in your arms. The normal limit is one dog per passenger, with an exception possible for small dogs. Staff may restrict boarding when crowding or safety requires it.

Do pet friendly hotels charge extra for pets?+

Many pet friendly hotels charge a small cleaning fee, per stay or per night, while others welcome pets for free. Any fee, plus size or number limits, is shown on each hotel before you book.

How do I know a hotel really accepts pets?+

Every hotel and stay listed here has a pet policy we have checked in our supplier data: room types marked as pets allowed, or a written hotel pet policy. Hotels that only take pets on request are left out. Any size limit and fee is shown on the hotel page before you book.

What should I pack when travelling with a dog?+

Bring your pet vaccination and microchip records, a familiar bed or blanket, food, bowls, a lead and waste bags. For international trips, check the entry and pet passport rules for your destination well ahead of travel.

Can I leave my dog alone in the hotel room?+

Policies vary. Some hotels allow it if the dog is crated and quiet, others do not. Check the hotel pet policy, and consider a local dog sitter for longer days out.
