The fair covers food and drink, processing technology and ingredients, packaging, catering, hotel and shop equipment, with a Latvian Hall, a B2B matchmaking event and competitions for chefs, pastry chefs, bartenders, waiters, tea and grill masters. It is open to everyone: the public buy a standard ticket, while food industry professionals can buy a PRO ticket or register as professional visitors. The exhibition centre sits on Ķīpsala, across the Daugava from the Old Town; the organiser puts the Old Town 1 km away, about five minutes by car, and describes Old Town hotels as a 20 minute walk. How do you get to Riga Food?
From Riga International Airport (RIX)
- The organiser puts the airport 10 km from the exhibition centre, about a 10 minute drive, so a taxi is the simplest door to door option
- LiveRiga, the city's official tourism site, says a taxi from the airport to the city centre takes 15 to 25 minutes depending on traffic and costs around 10 to 25 euros, with licensed airport taxis and ride-hailing apps such as Bolt available
- By day, bus 22 links the airport with central Riga in around 40 minutes depending on traffic; useful stops include Grēcinieku iela next to the Old Town and Autoosta by the international bus station
- A bus 22 ticket costs 1.81 euros by bank card from the driver or 1.50 euros bought in advance, and the N22 night bus leaves the airport hourly from 00:30 to 04:30
By rail, coach and car
- The organiser puts both the central railway station and the international bus station about 3 km from the exhibition centre, around five minutes by car
- Trolleybuses 5, 12 and 25 and buses 13, 30, 37, 41, 53 and 57 run to Ķīpsala, according to the organiser's directions
- The venue address is Ķīpsalas iela 8, Riga; the organiser's map shows paid parking zones P1 and P2 and a free parking area D
- The organiser lists parking at 5 euros for up to four hours and 2 euros for each further hour, paid at a machine by card or in the Mobilly app (payment area SIC)
How do you get around during Riga Food?
Trolleybus, bus and tram
- Rīgas satiksme runs Riga's trams, trolleybuses and buses, which LiveRiga says operate daily from 5:30 to 23:30
- A 90 minute ticket costs 1.50 euros with transfers between any tram, trolleybus or bus; 24 hour (5 euros), three day (8 euros) and five day (10 euros) tickets suit a fair stay
- Buy tickets at Narvesen kiosks, ticket machines or in the Mobilly or Timey apps, and register your ticket each time you board; only bus 22 sells tickets from the driver
- Timetables are in English on the Rīgas satiksme website, though LiveRiga notes it may not open from outside the EU, so a ticket app is a useful backup

Do you need a visa for Riga Food?
Visa-free / visa on arrival
- Latvia is an EU member and in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
- Citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries can visit the Schengen Area for business without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180 day period
- Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control in Riga
- ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the EU says it will announce the start date several months ahead, so check before you fly
eVisa / visa required
- Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay (type C) visa, applied for in the country where you live through a Latvian embassy or consulate or its appointed visa centre
- Under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months and at least 15 days before travel; standard processing takes 15 days and can be extended to 45, so for a September fair apply in early summer
- The Riga Food pages we checked do not describe a visa invitation letter service, so exhibitors and professional visitors who need one should contact the organiser early
