About Gullane Golf Club (No. 1 Course)
Gullane No. 1, laid out in 1884 over ground where golf has been played since the 17th century, is the senior and most celebrated of the club's three courses, climbing over Gullane Hill before tumbling back toward the Firth of Forth. It has the classic virtues of East Lothian links golf — firm, rumpled turf, clever contouring and exposure to the sea wind — and delivers one of the sport's great vistas from the elevated 7th tee. The course was strong enough to host the Scottish Open in 2015 and 2018 the week before The Open, and it regularly serves as Open final qualifying.
