The Passenger Experience Conference and the Welcome Party open the week on Monday 5 April. AIX covers aircraft seating, materials, lighting, cabin systems, inflight entertainment and connectivity (in the IFEC Zone) and business jet cabins (in the BizJet and VVIP Interiors Zone), and the same badge also opens World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo (WTCE) in the A Halls. The organiser counts more than 12,000 attendees, over 185 airlines and more than 470 exhibitors. It is a show for airline, lessor, MRO, OEM and supplier professionals, held in Hamburg every year. Where should you eat during Aircraft Interiors Expo?

The Messe sits right on the edge of the Schanzenviertel, so the best casual and mid-range tables are a 5-10 minute walk out the north exit; for waterfront fine dining around the Binnenalster take the U-Bahn (U1/U3, ~8 min) or a 10-minute taxi. A local fixer keeps client dinners downtown and quick working meals in the Schanze.

Visa-free / visa on arrival

  • Germany is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
  • The German Federal Foreign Office lists citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries as needing no visa for stays of up to 90 days in any 180 day period
  • Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control
  • ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the EU says it will announce the start date ahead of time, so check before you fly

eVisa / visa required

  • Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay (type C) visa, applied for through German missions or their appointed visa centres
  • Under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months and at least 15 days before travel; standard processing takes 15 days and can be extended to 45; the organiser suggests applying at least six to eight weeks ahead
  • If your mission asks for supporting documents such as an invitation letter, the organiser says to use the link in your registration confirmation email; exhibitors request letters in the Exhibitor Portal and VIPs on the registration form

Documents to carry

  • Your printed AIX badge and a personal photo ID such as a passport, which the organiser may ask to see
  • A passport valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area and issued within the last ten years
  • Hotel booking and return travel details, plus copies of your visa supporting documents and travel medical insurance if you need a visa

Entry and visa rules change; check current requirements with the German embassy or consulate, or official EU sources, before you book.

  • Admission is for professional and business visitors connected to the industry, business wear is expected, and nobody under 18 is admitted without the organiser's prior written approval
  • Airline, leasing company and business jet operator staff can be upgraded to a VIP badge with the North Entrance, the Airline Club Lounge and a discounted Passenger Experience Conference rate
