The OMR Festival, run by OMR (Online Marketing Rockstars) and billed by its organiser as the leading event for marketing and the digital economy in Europe, returns to Hamburg Messe from Monday 3 to Wednesday 5 May 2027. For the first time it runs over three days: Monday is an Education Day with only Masterclasses and Side Events, and Tuesday and Wednesday bring the full programme of keynotes on six stages, more Masterclasses, Guided Tours, the Expo with around 1,000 exhibitors and partners, more than 100 food booths and live concerts. The organiser counts more than 800 speakers and says the 2026 edition drew 70,000 attendees to Hamburg. The festival launched in 2011 and takes place in Hamburg every spring. The organiser itself says demand for Hamburg rooms during the festival is extremely high, so OMR Festival hotels in St. Pauli, the Sternschanze, the Neustadt and around Dammtor are worth booking early. How do you get to OMR Festival (Online Marketing Rockstars)?
From Hamburg Airport (HAM)
- The airport is about 10 km from the exhibition grounds and its terminals connect directly to the hvv S-Bahn network
- For the Central and South entrances, take the S1 to Jungfernstieg and change to the U2 to Messehallen; for the East Entrance, take the S1 to Hauptbahnhof and change to the S2 or S5 to Dammtor (Messe/CCH)
- Hamburg Messe puts a single ticket at about EUR 4 and a day ticket at about EUR 7 (after 9am) or EUR 9 (all day)
- A taxi takes about 20 minutes and costs about EUR 30 to 35, according to the venue; there is no fixed fare
By rail and road
- Dammtor mainline station, served by ICE trains, is an 8 minute walk from the East Entrance and about 20 minutes from the Central Entrance
- From Hamburg Hauptbahnhof it is one stop, about two minutes, on the S2 or S5 to Dammtor
- Hamburg Messe has up to 3,500 parking spaces; the underground garages charge EUR 2 an hour, up to EUR 16 a day
- Drivers from outside Hamburg are advised to use a Park and Ride station, such as Bahrenfeld, and continue by S-Bahn
How do you get around during OMR Festival (Online Marketing Rockstars)?
Getting to the halls each day
- The organiser says Hamburg Messe is central with excellent public transport, and points to hvv.de and the hvv app for connections
- In 2026 tickets had to be swapped for a festival wristband at an accreditation desk, at the East Entrance on the day before the show days and at every entrance on the show days; check the 2027 arrangements before you go
- Once you have your wristband, the organiser suggests Sternschanze station (U-Bahn and S-Bahn) for the West Entrance, Messehallen on the U2 for the South Entrance, or Dammtor for the East Entrance
- The hvv app plans routes and sells tickets, with a 7 percent discount on some single and day tickets according to the venue
St. Pauli, the Neustadt or further out?
- St. Pauli and the Sternschanze border the fairground, so many hotels there are a short walk from the West and South entrances and the evening concerts
- The Neustadt and the city centre are one or two U2 stops from Messehallen and have the widest choice of hotels
- Dammtor suits anyone arriving by ICE, with the East Entrance an 8 minute walk away
- If central Hamburg is full, the organiser suggests towns such as Pinneberg and Lüneburg, which it says are less than an hour by train from downtown Hamburg
Do you need a visa for OMR Festival (Online Marketing Rockstars)?
Visa-free / visa on arrival
- Germany is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
- The German Federal Foreign Office lists citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries as needing no visa for stays of up to 90 days in any 180 day period
- Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control
- ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the EU says it will announce the start date several months ahead, so check before you fly
eVisa / visa required
- Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay (type C) visa, applied for through German missions or their appointed visa centres
- Under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months and at least 15 days before travel; standard processing takes 15 days and can be extended to 45
- Hamburg Messe says an invitation letter is generally not needed for a trade fair or business visa; the OMR pages we checked do not describe a visa letter service, so ask OMR directly if a mission requests one

- Your OMR Festival ticket, to swap for a wristband at the accreditation desk
- A passport valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area and issued within the last ten years
- Hotel booking and return travel details, plus copies of your visa supporting documents and travel medical insurance if you need a visa

- When we checked in November 2026 an early bird Festival Pass cost EUR 539 instead of EUR 649 for a limited time, and the organiser takes 10 percent off each Festival Pass when five or more are in the basket
- Monday 3 May is the Education Day with Masterclasses and Side Events only; the stages, Expo and concerts run on Tuesday and Wednesday, so decide early how many nights you need
- The organiser lists more than 350 Masterclasses and 200 Guided Tours, and plans your day through themed Festival Journeys
- Live concerts and booth parties in the exhibition halls take place each night, so a hotel within walking distance or on a direct U-Bahn line makes late evenings easier
