AMPER, the International Trade Fair for Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Energy, returns to the Brno Exhibition Centre from Tuesday 16 to Thursday 18 March 2027. The organiser, BVV Trade Fairs Brno (Veletrhy Brno), describes it as one of the most important events in its field in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, held every year. The 2026 edition, the first run by BVV, drew more than 27,000 visitors and 468 exhibiting companies from 33 countries, mostly technicians from the industries on show and from related and customer sectors. Alongside the stands there is a conference and discussion programme on energy, digital transformation, automation, e-mobility, smart buildings, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. New for 2027 are AMPER JOBS, a careers platform with its own Career Stage, and an AMPER e-mobility section moving into a hall of its own with test drives and the E-Stage. The Brno Exhibition Centre sits south west of the city centre, and tram line 1 runs straight from the main railway station to the main gate, so hotels next to the fairground, in Staré Brno, in the old town and around the station all work for a three day visit. How do you get to AMPER?
Arriving in Brno
- Brno Airport (BRQ) is the city's own airport; check its website for current flights, the bus link into the city and taxis
- Coming by rail or long distance coach, the organiser says direct public transport lines run from Brno's main railway station and from the Zvonařka bus station to the exhibition centre
- From the main railway station take tram line 1 in the direction of Bystrc, or bus line 84 in the direction of Stará osada
- Plan the whole journey, including connections from further afield, on the IDS JMK connection finder, the South Moravian public transport network
By car and parking
- Follow the signs "BVV" or "Výstaviště BVV" when driving in Brno; parking areas vary by event, the venue says
- The Expoparking multi storey car park is opposite Gate 4 at Křížkovského 51, on the city ring road near the main access road from the D1 Prague to Brno motorway
- The venue asks drivers to use Park and Ride and public transport if the car parks fill up
- Electric cars should use the main gate, which has charging stations in front of it
How do you get around during AMPER?
Getting to the fairground each day
- Tram line 1, trolleybus lines 25, 26 and 37 and bus line 52 stop at Výstaviště, hlavní vstup, by the main gate; tram 1 also stops at entrance G2
- Bus lines 44 and 84 stop at Křížkovského near the main gate, at Gate 4 and at the Riviéra stop by Hall P
- Entrances are the main gate, entrance G2, the ramp at Hall E and Hall P; Hall P hosted the AMPER STAGE in 2026
- Paper tickets for Brno public transport include a 60 minute ticket and a 24 hour ticket, the city transport company says; check current prices on dpmb.cz
Where to stay in Brno
- Výstaviště and Pisárky put you next to the fairground and Expoparking, the easiest choice for exhibitors with early starts
- Staré Brno lies between the fairground and the old town, close to the tram and bus routes to the main gate
- The old town has the widest choice of restaurants for client dinners, a tram ride from the fair
- Hotels around the main railway station suit visitors arriving by train, with tram line 1 direct to the main gate; check each hotel's position on the map before you book
Do you need a visa for AMPER?
Visa-free / visa on arrival
- The Czech Republic is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
- Citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries can visit the Schengen Area without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180 day period
- Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control
- ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the EU says it will announce the start date several months ahead, so check before you fly
eVisa / visa required
- Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay (type C) visa, applied for through Czech embassies or the visa centres they appoint
- The Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists trade fair attendance as a business purpose for a Schengen visa application
- Under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months and at least 15 days before travel; standard processing takes 15 days and can be extended to 45
Documents to carry
- A passport valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area
- Your AMPER ticket or exhibitor pass, plus a photo ID
- Hotel booking and return travel details, plus a letter from your employer, copies of your visa supporting documents and travel medical insurance if you need a visa
Entry and visa rules change; check current requirements with the Czech embassy or consulate, the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or official EU sources, before you book.
First time at AMPER?
- Opening hours for 2027 were still to be specified when we checked, so confirm them on the organiser's visitor page before you plan your days
- The venue recommends buying tickets online to skip the ticket office queue; on site, tickets are paid in cash or by card in Czech crowns (CZK) only, and each ticket is valid for one entry
- If you claim a discounted ticket, bring the document that entitles you to it, and note that benefit cards cannot be used to pay for tickets
- Bicycles and scooters are not allowed on the fairground; use the racks in front of the main entrance
- Cloakrooms for coats and luggage are in the Hall P foyer and Hall F, there is free BVV FREE Wi-Fi inside the halls, and ATMs are outside Halls E and F

- Tram line 1 links the main railway station with both the main gate and entrance G2, so a station hotel and a short tram ride is often quicker than driving and parking
