BIT, the Borsa Internazionale del Turismo, is the international tourism exchange organised by Fiera Milano, and the 2027 edition runs from Tuesday 9 to Thursday 11 February 2027 at Fiera Milano Rho, on the north western edge of Milan. The fairground sits at the end of the red M1 metro line and has its own railway station on the S5, S6 and S11 suburban lines, according to ATM, Milan's transport operator. That leaves a simple choice when you book BIT Milano hotels: stay close to Rho Fiera for the shortest morning journey, or stay central near an M1 stop for Milan's restaurants and evening meetings. MIDO, the eyewear show, is at the same fairground in the days just before, so hotels near Rho can fill early that week. This page shows live hotel rates for your dates. Your BIT registration or ticket is arranged separately with the organiser.

Popular areas for attendees: Rho Fiera · Cadorna/Sempione · Milan City Centre (Duomo) · Porta Nuova/Garibaldi.

How do you get to BIT Milano?

From Milan's airports

  • Milan Malpensa (MXP) is the main long haul gateway; Malpensa Express trains run from the airport to Milano Cadorna and Milano Centrale, according to Trenord
  • From central Milan, continue on the red M1 metro to Rho Fieramilano or on an S5, S6 or S11 train to Rho Fiera, the routes ATM lists for the exhibition centre
  • From Milan Linate (LIN), the M4 metro line connects the airport with the city centre, according to ATM, so you can cross Milan by metro and change to the M1 for Rho
  • Taxis wait at both airports for door to door trips if you arrive late or with heavy display material

By rail into Milan

  • Long distance trains arrive at Milan's main city stations; from there, the metro or an S line train takes you out to Rho
  • Rho Fiera railway station, on the S5, S6 and S11 lines, serves the exhibition centre, according to ATM
  • Check your rail timetable for the connection to Rho Fiera, as not every train from central Milan stops there

How do you get around during BIT Milano?

Getting to Fiera Milano Rho each day

  • Take the red M1 metro line to its Rho Fieramilano terminus, or an S5, S6 or S11 suburban train to Rho Fiera railway station, the two routes ATM lists for the exhibition centre
  • ATM says a Mi1 to Mi3 ticket (2.20 euros) covers the trip by either metro or S line train; holders of an urban travel pass need a 1.70 euro supplement
  • Tickets are sold at the machines in every metro station, at authorised resellers, in the ATM app and by text message, according to ATM
  • On fair mornings the metro and trains avoid the traffic around the fairground, so allow extra time if you plan to take a taxi

Rho Fiera or central Milan?

  • Rho and Pero are the closest areas to the halls and suit exhibitors with early stand set ups; check each hotel's position on the map before you book
  • Cadorna and the Duomo are on the M1 line, so a central hotel still gives you one metro ride to the fair, with the city's restaurants close by in the evening
  • Porta Nuova and Garibaldi suit evening meetings in Milan's business district; check the metro or S line connection from your hotel to Rho
  • The Lombardy Region's 2027 fair calendar lists MIDO, the eyewear show, at Rho from 6 to 8 February 2027, just before BIT, so book early if you want a hotel near the fairground

Do you need a visa for BIT Milano?

Visa-free / visa on arrival

  • Italy is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
  • Citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries can visit the Schengen Area for business without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180 day period
  • Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control
  • ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the EU says it will announce the start date several months ahead, so check before you fly

eVisa / visa required

  • Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay (type C) visa, applied for through Italy's consulates or their appointed visa centres
  • Under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months and at least 15 days before travel; standard processing takes 15 days and can be extended to 45
  • If you need an invitation letter for a visa, ask the exhibitor you are meeting or the BIT organisers well before your consulate appointment

Documents to carry

  • A passport valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area
  • Your BIT registration or entry pass once the organiser issues it
  • Hotel booking and return travel details, plus copies of your visa supporting documents and travel medical insurance if you need a visa

Entry and visa rules change; check current requirements with the Italian embassy or consulate, or official EU sources, before you book.

First time at BIT Milano?

  • Confirm opening hours, entry rules and any late changes on the organiser's website, bit.fieramilano.it, before you book flights
  • Check on the organiser's website who can attend each day, as trade fairs often reserve some or all days for professionals
  • Buy a Mi1 to Mi3 ticket for the trip to Rho rather than a cheaper city ticket, and keep it until you leave the station
  • Book your appointments with destinations and suppliers before you travel, so you can plan your days around the halls you need
  • Wear comfortable shoes, as the walk between halls at Rho is long

Insider tips from repeat attendees

  • Staying near an M1 stop such as Cadorna or the Duomo gives you one train to the fair and back, with no change, and keeps evenings in the city simple
  • Choose a free cancellation rate while your meeting schedule is still taking shape, so you can move or shorten your stay without losing money
  • We are independent and not affiliated with BIT or Fiera Milano; you book a named hotel directly with us at the rate shown
