boot Düsseldorf, the international boat and water sports show, runs at Messe Düsseldorf from Saturday 23 to Sunday 31 January 2027. The organiser calls it the world's largest yacht and water sports show, and the 2026 edition drew over 200,000 visitors from more than 110 countries, with almost 1,500 exhibitors from 68 nations across the halls. It is a public show with a strong trade side: anyone can buy a day ticket, while trade visitors get their own ticket, earlier entry and a B2B lounge. How do you get to boot Düsseldorf?

From Düsseldorf Airport (DUS)

  • On selected event days the U81 runs directly from the airport terminal to the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA/Messe Nord stop in about seven minutes, according to Messe Düsseldorf
  • In regular operation the U80 links the airport with the Messe Ost/Stockumer Kirchstraße stop, Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof and the city centre
  • Taxis between the airport and every Messe Düsseldorf entrance charge a fixed €25.00 day and night, and the organiser puts the ride at about 10 minutes
  • Flying home, Düsseldorf Airport's DUSgateway lets you book a free security check time slot from 72 hours before departure

By rail and road

  • Messe Düsseldorf recommends the Deutsche Bahn event ticket, which includes travel from the station to the exhibition grounds; the offer applies only to journeys within Germany
  • From Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof and Heinrich-Heine-Allee in the Altstadt there are direct light rail connections to the Messe stops
  • By car, the A44 runs right past the fairground: leave at junction 29 Messe/Arena for car parks P1 and P2, where free shuttle buses run to the entrances
  • Parking at P1 and P2 is cashless only, and you can buy a parking ticket in advance from GOLDBECK Parking Services

How do you get around during boot Düsseldorf?

Getting to Messe Düsseldorf each day

  • The main stops are MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA/Messe Nord (U78, plus the U81 on selected event days) and Messe Ost/Stockumer Kirchstraße (U78, U79, U80 and bus 722)
  • Your boot ticket does not include local buses and trains, so buy a separate Rheinbahn ticket; the organiser suggests the eezy check in and check out fare in the Rheinbahn app or a 24 hour ticket for up to five people
  • Bus 722 links the city centre with several stops around the fairground, including Messe-Center and Messe Süd/Congress Center
  • Arriving in a motorhome? During boot the P1 car park takes motorhomes as part of the Surf Festival Camp for €25 a night plus €3 city tax per person per night, paid on site, and overnight stays need a valid admission ticket

Stockum or the city centre?

  • Stockum sits beside the fairground and close to the airport, the shortest trip to the halls each morning
  • The Altstadt and the city centre have far more hotels and restaurants, with direct light rail from Hauptbahnhof and Heinrich-Heine-Allee to the Messe
  • The DüsseldorfCard covers buses and trains in the Düsseldorf city area for 24 to 96 hours and gives reduced entry to many attractions, handy if you add a city day
  • Late January is winter in Düsseldorf, and the free cloakrooms at the entrances let you leave coats and luggage during the show

Do you need a visa for boot Düsseldorf?

Visa-free / visa on arrival

  • Germany is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
  • The German Federal Foreign Office lists citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries as needing no visa for stays of up to 90 days in any 180 day period
  • Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control
  • ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked, so look again before you fly

eVisa / visa required

  • Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay (type C) visa, applied for through German missions or their appointed visa centres
  • Under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months and at least 15 days before travel; standard processing takes 15 days and can be extended to 45
  • Messe Düsseldorf says a trade fair visa no longer needs an invitation from the organiser; visitors submit their boot eTicket, and exhibitors an exhibitor authorisation from Messe Düsseldorf

Documents to carry

  • A passport valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area
  • Your boot ticket or trade visitor ticket on your phone or printed
  • Hotel booking and return travel details, plus copies of your visa supporting documents and travel medical insurance if you need a visa

Entry and visa rules change; check current requirements with the German embassy or consulate, or official EU sources, before you book.

First time at boot Düsseldorf?

  • Visitor hours are 10:00 to 18:00 every day, and trade visitors can enter from 09:30, with business visitor hours until 19:00
  • Buy tickets online in advance: online prices for boot 2027 start at €23.00 for a one day ticket, on-site prices differ, and bought tickets cannot be cancelled or returned
  • Your ticket is not tied to a date, so you can use it on any day of the show
  • Children up to and including 12 get in free, and an afternoon ticket for €13.00 is valid from 14:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday only
  • Trade visitors pay €28.00 for one day or €44.00 for two, with access to the B2B Lounge in Hall 13 (Stand E13) and the Super Yacht Club lounge in Hall 7a

Insider tips from repeat attendees

  • The show runs over two weekends, so if you only need one day, compare hotel rates for a weekday and a weekend night before you pick
  • The free boot.club membership unlocks a two day ticket for €21.00, the price of one day
  • Exhibitor teams often need rooms well before opening: in 2026 stand construction in some halls began on 8 January, nine days before the show, so check the 2027 build-up times on the stand builder portal
