BouwBeurs, which its organiser calls the largest construction event in the Netherlands, returns to Royal Dutch Jaarbeurs in Utrecht from Monday 1 to Friday 5 February 2027. It is held every two years, and the 2025 edition drew more than 63,600 construction professionals to more than 600 exhibitors across six halls, with biobased building, circularity, digitalisation and industrialised construction at the centre. Contractors, architects, project leaders, installers, advisers and tradespeople come to compare materials, tools and building systems side by side, and the five days also bring knowledge sessions, pavilions, student days and the Vakheld Awards. Jaarbeurs sits right beside Utrecht Centraal station, and the organiser puts the station a five minute walk from the halls. That makes it easy to stay by the station, in the old city centre or further out along a direct train or tram line. This page shows live hotel rates near Jaarbeurs for the dates you choose. Your BouwBeurs ticket is bought separately from the organiser.

How do you get to BouwBeurs?

From Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS)

  • Jaarbeurs says Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is just 30 minutes from the venue by train
  • On arrival at Utrecht Centraal, follow the signs for 'Jaarbeursplein'; the organiser puts the station a five minute walk from the exhibition halls
  • If you arrive by public transport, Jaarbeurs advises using the Entree Stationzijde (station side entrance), which is the quickest way into the exhibition and congress building
  • Jaarbeurs has a taxi rank and drop off point at the Jaarbeursplein and the Expoplein if you prefer a taxi from the airport

By car, tram and bus

  • Jaarbeurs has more than 3,200 parking spaces, 1,400 of them covered, plus 68 charging points for electric cars and 28 spaces for disabled drivers
  • The BouwBeurs organiser recommends reserving a parking space in advance if you come by car, so you are sure of a place
  • Drivers enter through the Entree Parkeerzijde (car park side entrance), which connects directly to the car parks and leads to the halls
  • Trams stop at CS Jaarbeursplein and buses at CS Jaarbeurszijde, both a few minutes on foot from the venue, according to Jaarbeurs

How do you get around during BouwBeurs?

Getting to Jaarbeurs each day

  • Jaarbeurs lies right next to Utrecht Centraal, so most hotels on a direct train, tram or bus line into the station make an easy daily commute
  • Hotels around the station and the Jaarbeursplein keep the walk to the halls short, which helps on the long Thursday, when the fair stays open until 20:30
  • Jaarbeurs runs guarded cloakrooms at Entree West and Entree Oost, at 2.50 euros an item, and lockers in the exhibition building at 5 euros a day
  • Journalists will find the BouwBeurs press room on the left at Entrance Oost during the fair

Choosing where to stay

  • Utrecht Centraal and the Jaarbeursplein are the closest areas, with the station and the halls a short walk apart
  • The old city centre, with its canals, restaurants and bars, is on the other side of the station, so it suits visitors who want somewhere lively in the evenings
  • Nieuwegein and Leidsche Rijn can offer more choice when central Utrecht is busy; check each hotel's connection to Utrecht Centraal before you book
  • Amsterdam is a direct train ride away and can work as an overflow base, but allow for the commute on each fair day

Do you need a visa for BouwBeurs?

Visa-free / visa on arrival

  • The Netherlands is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
  • Citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries can visit the Schengen Area for business without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180 day period
  • Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control at Schiphol
  • ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the EU says it will announce the start date several months ahead, so check before you fly

eVisa / visa required

  • Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay visa, applied for through the Dutch embassy or consulate in the country where you live
  • Under EU rules you apply at least 15 days and no earlier than six months before travel; normal processing takes 15 days and can be extended to 45, so for a fair in early February apply in the autumn
  • Jaarbeurs says it does not process visa applications for visitors and asks travellers to check with the Dutch embassy or consulate; we did not find a visa letter service on the BouwBeurs website, so contact the organiser early if you need one

Documents to carry

  • A passport issued within the last ten years and valid for at least three months after the date you plan to leave the EU
  • Your BouwBeurs e-ticket, on your phone or printed
  • Hotel booking and return travel details, plus copies of your visa supporting documents and travel medical insurance if you need a visa

Entry and visa rules change; check current requirements with the Dutch embassy or consulate, or official EU sources, before you book.

First time at BouwBeurs?

  • Opening hours for 2027 are 9:30 to 17:30 from Monday 1 to Wednesday 3 February, 9:30 to 20:30 on Thursday 4 February and 9:30 to 17:00 on Friday 5 February
  • Tickets cost 29.50 euros online and 39.50 euros at the box office; entry is free with an invitation code from an exhibitor, a partner or the organiser
  • Monday 1 and Tuesday 2 February are the student days, when students and young talent visit the fair, so expect the aisles to be lively early in the week
  • The 2027 programme was still being developed when we checked; new features announced include an AI Café in hall 9, a Material District exhibition and an architects' zone in hall 10, and the BouwBeurs NieuwsCafé in hall 8
  • February in Utrecht is cold and often wet, so bring a warm, waterproof coat for the walk between the station, the halls and dinner

Insider tips from repeat attendees

  • Ask your suppliers for an invitation code before you register: it makes your ticket free instead of 29.50 euros online
  • Thursday is the late day, open until 20:30, which suits visitors who travel in after work or want a longer evening on the floor
  • Utrecht is a compact city, so book early for the station area; with tens of thousands of visitors over five days, the hotels nearest the halls are the first to go
