How do you get to CARAVAN SALON?
From Düsseldorf Airport (DUS)
- On selected event days the U81 runs directly from the airport terminal to the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA/Messe Nord stop in about seven minutes, according to Messe Düsseldorf
- In regular operation the U80 links the airport with the Messe Ost/Stockumer Kirchstraße stop, Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof and the city centre
- Taxis between the airport and every Messe Düsseldorf entrance charge a fixed €25.00 day and night, and the organiser puts the ride at about 10 minutes
By rail, road or motorhome
- With the Deutsche Bahn Event Ticket you travel from any station in Germany at a fixed price, and the onward journey from the station to the exhibition grounds is included
- By car, the A44 runs right past the fairground: leave at junction 29 Messe/Arena for car parks P1 and P2, where free shuttle buses run to the entrances
- The exhibition centre and the Caravan Center are outside Düsseldorf's low emission zone, so the organiser says you need no emission badge arriving from the A44
- Messe Düsseldorf puts the drive from Cologne at about 60 minutes and from Dortmund and Aachen at about 75 minutes
How do you get around during CARAVAN SALON?
Getting to Messe Düsseldorf each day
- The main stops are MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA/Messe Nord (U78, plus the U81 on selected event days) and Messe Ost/Stockumer Kirchstraße (U78, U79, U80 and bus 722)
- From Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof and Heinrich-Heine-Allee in the Altstadt there are direct light rail connections to the Messe
- For local fares the organiser points to the eezy check in and check out fare in the Rheinbahn app, or a 24 hour ticket for up to five people
- Parking tickets can be bought in advance from GOLDBECK Parking Services or on site by card
Hotel, Caravan Center or campsite?
- The organiser's Caravan Center sits next to the fairground on car park P1, with free shuttle buses to the exhibition grounds and daily Old Town shuttle buses into the city centre
- Caravan Center pitches can only be ordered after you buy a show ticket, are reserved for registered vehicles, and run from 19:00 to 19:00 the next day, with an extra parking fee if you arrive before 19:00
- Vehicles on export, short term or dealer plates go to Campingplatz Lörick, Rheincamping Meerbusch or the Unterbacher See Nord campsite, which the organiser lists as alternatives
- Stockum hotels are closest to the halls, while the Altstadt and city centre give you more choice of rooms and restaurants for the evening
Do you need a visa for CARAVAN SALON?
Visa-free / visa on arrival
- Germany is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
- The German Federal Foreign Office lists citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries as needing no visa for stays of up to 90 days in any 180 day period
- Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control
- ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked, so look again before you fly
eVisa / visa required
- Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay (type C) visa, applied for through German missions or their appointed visa centres
- Under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months and at least 15 days before travel; standard processing takes 15 days and can be extended to 45
- Messe Düsseldorf says you do not need an invitation letter from the organiser for a Schengen visa; visitors submit their CARAVAN SALON eTicket, so buy it once sales open in June 2027

Insider tips from repeat attendees
- The Preview Day on Friday 27 August has a limited number of tickets and is pitched at buyers who want a quieter first look; in 2026 it cost more than a normal day ticket (€39 for adults)
- For 2026 a weekday adult ticket cost less than a weekend one (€18 against €20), and an afternoon ticket from 14:00 to 18:00 ran Monday to Friday, so a midweek visit can save on both the ticket and the hotel night
- If the Caravan Center is full or your vehicle has temporary plates, the Schützenplatz areas in Unterrath and Rath take motorhomes for €15 a day, with no facilities, no shuttle and no reservations
