Cibus, the International Food Exhibition and Italy's leading trade fair for Made in Italy food, returns to Fiere di Parma from Tuesday 4 to Thursday 6 May 2027. Held in Parma since 1985, in the heart of the Italian Food Valley, it brings together major Italian food brands, PDO, PGI and TSG producers and their consortia, regional specialities and small specialty producers, with halls for grocery, bakery and confectionery, chilled and frozen, meat and cured meats, dairy, beverages and regional specialities. It is a B2B event for buyers from large retail, foodservice and Ho.Re.Ca., wholesale, importers and independent retail, and for 2027 the organiser expects 3,000 brands and 3,500 international buyers from 80 countries, with Geographical Indication products from the rest of Europe and the world on show for the first time. The last full edition, in May 2024, drew over 75,000 attendees. The fairground is on the northern edge of Parma, less than 5 minutes from the Parma Centro motorway exit, with a bus to the station and centre during the show. That gives you a choice of bases: near the fairground, in the historic centre or by the station, or by Reggio Emilia's Mediopadana high speed station. How do you get to Cibus?
Flying in
- Bologna Marconi (BLQ) and Milan Linate (LIN) airports are both less than an hour from the Parma fairground, according to Fiere di Parma and the Cibus organiser
- The Cibus organiser puts Bergamo Orio al Serio about an hour and a half away and Milan Malpensa less than two hours away
- Fiere di Parma says Parma's own Giuseppe Verdi airport, a few minutes' drive from the fairground, has direct links with some Italian airports
- Fiere di Parma says a system of airport shuttles runs during international events; check what is offered for Cibus before you travel
By train or car
- Parma station is on the Milan to Rome line, with more than 25 daily trains, Fiere di Parma says
- Fiere di Parma's South Entrance is linked to Reggio Emilia's Mediopadana high speed station by Parmalink, a shuttle service, the Cibus organiser says; check its fares and timetable before you travel
- From the Parma Centro tollgate on the A1, a direct road reaches the exhibition centre in less than 5 minutes; the organiser recommends Parma Ovest if you come from Milan
- The exhibition centre has 9,000 parking spaces, paid by the day at machines by the entrances or through the EasyPark app
How do you get around during Cibus?
Getting to Fiere di Parma each day
- The fairground is at Viale delle Esposizioni 393a, on the northern edge of Parma
- At recent editions a show shuttle linked the fair with the city centre and the station every 15 minutes, with a stop near the East entrance as well as the centre entrance, free for exhibitors, buyers and accredited journalists showing their Cibus pass
- Fiere di Parma says the bus from the station takes about 10 minutes during trade shows
- Radio Taxi Parma is on 0521 252562, and in recent years a car with driver service was bookable through the agency CheViaggi
Where to stay for Cibus
- Hotels around the fairground and the motorway exits suit drivers and exhibitors with early stand set ups; check each hotel's position on the map before you book
- The historic centre puts you close to Parma's restaurants, the Teatro Regio and the Pilotta, on the show shuttle route
- The station area is handy if you arrive by train and want the shuttle each morning
- For high speed trains, hotels near Reggio Emilia's Mediopadana station are another option, linked to the fair by the Parmalink shuttle
Do you need a visa for Cibus?
Visa-free / visa on arrival
- Italy is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
- Citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries can visit the Schengen Area for business without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180 day period
- Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control
- ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the EU says it will announce the start date several months ahead, so check before you fly

- Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay (type C) visa, applied for through Italy's consulates or their appointed visa centres
- Under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months and at least 15 days before travel; standard processing takes 15 days and can be extended to 45
- If you need an invitation letter for a visa, ask the exhibitor you are meeting or the organiser, Fiere di Parma, well before your consulate appointment
Documents to carry
- A passport valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area
- Your Cibus entry ticket once you have registered, plus a photo ID, as tickets are personal
- Hotel booking and return travel details, plus copies of your visa supporting documents and travel medical insurance if you need a visa

First time at Cibus?
- Cibus is for trade visitors only; at the last editions entry needed online registration in advance, tickets were personal, and under 18s were not admitted unless agreed with the organiser
- Visitor registration and opening hours for 2027 had not been published when we checked, so watch the organiser's site and register as soon as it opens
- Buyers can apply for the Buyers Program, which the organiser runs by selection and invitation, with networking events, on site tours and factory visits
- Dogs are not allowed on the fairground, except guide dogs, under the organiser's visitor rules

- Cibus has not run every year: after the May 2024 edition the next is May 2027, so book early if you have meetings to fix
