Global Industrie, France's largest industrial trade fair, holds its ninth edition at Eurexpo Lyon in Chassieu from Monday 15 to Thursday 18 March 2027. The show moves between Paris and Lyon (the 2025 edition was in Lyon and the 2026 edition in Paris), and for 2027 it takes over the whole of Eurexpo. The organiser, GL events, expects more than 2,700 exhibitors and 65,000 industry professionals across 15 sectors, from robotics and additive manufacturing to electronics, materials, energy and metrology, with more than 3,000 machines in operation; the last Lyon edition, in 2025, counted 45,000 visitors. Doors open at 09:00 every day, with a late finish at 20:00 on the Wednesday. Eurexpo sits on the eastern edge of Lyon, about 20 minutes from both the city centre and Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport, so you can stay close to the halls in Bron and Saint-Priest or base yourself at Part-Dieu or on the Presqu'île and ride the metro and tram T5 each morning. This page shows live hotel rates for your dates, so you can compare Global Industrie hotels in Lyon by distance to Eurexpo. Your visitor badge is arranged separately with the organiser.

How do you get to Global Industrie?

From Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport (LYS)

  • Eurexpo is about 20 minutes from Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport, according to the organiser
  • By public transport the venue puts the trip at about 30 minutes: the C200 bus runs direct, or take Rhônexpress to Vaulx-en-Velin La Soie and change to the N186 (run for major events) or the C200
  • Rhônexpress also links the airport with central Lyon every 15 minutes in under 30 minutes, if you are staying in town
  • Lyon-Bron business airport is about five minutes from Eurexpo, useful for private and business flights

By train and car

  • Lyon has three TGV stations: Part-Dieu, Perrache and Lyon-Saint Exupéry at the airport
  • From Lyon Part-Dieu, take Metro B to Saxe-Gambetta, Metro D to Grange Blanche and then tram T5 to Eurexpo Lyon, about 30 minutes in all according to the venue
  • Drivers from Lyon use the A43 Eurexpo exit for the West visitor gate; from Paris or Geneva, the A46 exit 8 leads to the North gate, and from Chambéry or Grenoble, exit 10 to the South gate
  • Eurexpo has about 13,000 parking spaces near its entrances, with a drop-off point at car park P2 when it is open

How do you get around during Global Industrie?

Getting to Eurexpo each day

  • Tram T5 serves Eurexpo every day; get off at the Eurexpo Lyon stop by the main entrance
  • From the Presqu'île or Part-Dieu, Metro D to Grange Blanche connects with tram T5, so a central hotel still gives you a simple daily trip
  • Plan journeys and check timetables on tcl.fr, the Lyon public transport network
  • A cycle path links Lyon Part-Dieu with Eurexpo, with bike parking in front of the taxi rank near the main entrance

Around Lyon

  • The organiser says about 1,400 taxis serve Eurexpo, with several Lyon booking centres listed on its access page
  • The Wednesday late opening runs to 20:00, so plan dinner reservations for later that evening
  • Mid March in Lyon can be cool and wet, so bring a coat for waits at tram stops
  • Lyon's restaurants and bouchons are busy with exhibitor dinners during the fair, so book ahead if you are hosting clients

Do you need a visa for Global Industrie?

Visa-free / visa on arrival

  • France is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
  • Citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries can visit the Schengen Area for business without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180 day period
  • Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control
  • ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the EU says it will announce the start date several months ahead, so check before you fly

eVisa / visa required

  • Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay (type C) visa, applied for through France's consulates or their appointed visa centres
  • Under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months and at least 15 days before travel; standard processing takes 15 days and can be extended to 45
  • Spring is a busy time for visa appointments, so book yours as soon as your Global Industrie plans are settled

Documents to carry

  • A passport valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area
  • Your Global Industrie visitor or exhibitor badge confirmation and a photo ID
  • Hotel booking and return travel details, plus copies of your visa supporting documents and travel medical insurance if you need a visa

Entry and visa rules change; check current requirements with the French embassy or consulate, or official EU sources, before you book.

First time at Global Industrie?

  • Visitor badges for 2027 are not open yet; the organiser's badge site still shows the 2026 edition, so sign up for its newsletter to hear when registration opens
  • Download the myGI app before you travel; with your badge you can shortlist exhibitors, book meetings and follow the conference programme
  • Eurexpo is fully used for 2027 across 15 sectors, so plan your route by zone and village rather than walking the halls in order
  • The Arena in Hall 7 hosts GI Avenir and the Golden Tech skills competition, which draw thousands of students and jobseekers, so expect crowds there
  • If you drive, choose the visitor gate that matches your direction of arrival; the East gate is for exhibitors

Insider tips from repeat attendees

  • The Wednesday late opening to 20:00 is a good slot for meetings once the daytime crowds thin out
  • Thursday closes at 17:00, so an evening TGV from Part-Dieu or a flight from Saint Exupéry is realistic if you stay to the end
  • The organiser's accommodation partner is Booking.com, and its page still pointed to the 2026 Paris edition when we checked; we are independent and not affiliated with Global Industrie or GL events, and you book a named Lyon hotel directly with us at the rate shown
