Habitat Expo, Mexico's meeting point for interior design, architecture and design for the home and hospitality, returns to the World Trade Center in Mexico City from Thursday 27 to Saturday 29 May 2027. The show fills the CIEC World Trade Center and the Pepsi Center in Colonia Nápoles, just off Avenida Insurgentes Sur. After 26 years, the organiser describes it as an event with more than 200 exhibitors and 12,550 visitors per edition, from furniture, lighting and finishes to the Espacio Contract area for hospitality furniture and design, an Italian pavilion and the Promesas México pavilion for emerging designers. Its visitors are architects, interior designers, property developers, builders, hoteliers, distributors and specialist buyers, and visitors register online in advance. Because Mexico City is large and traffic is heavy, staying in Nápoles, Del Valle or along Insurgentes Sur keeps the trip to the halls short. This page shows live hotel rates around the WTC for your dates, as an independent alternative to the hotels the organiser lists.

How do you get to Habitat Expo?

From Mexico City International Airport (MEX)

  • Authorised airport taxis are paid for at ticket booths: in Terminal 1 international arrivals they are in halls E2 and E3 and at gate 10, and in Terminal 2 international arrivals in hall E and at gate 4
  • Metrobús, the city government's bus rapid transit, links the airport with the city centre, boarding at gate 7 in Terminal 1 and gate 2 in Terminal 2
  • Metrobús runs from 4:30 to midnight Monday to Saturday and from 5:00 to midnight on Sundays and public holidays, and you pay with a Metrobús smart card sold at machines by the boarding areas
  • The Metro station Terminal Aérea is at Terminal 1, on Boulevard Puerto Aéreo, for journeys towards the centre and other parts of the city

Reaching the WTC

  • The organiser says the CIEC World Trade Center and Pepsi Center sit just behind Avenida Insurgentes Sur in Colonia Nápoles; the address is Dakota s/n, Col. Nápoles, Benito Juárez
  • By Metrobús, the organiser names Polifórum as the nearest station
  • If you arrive by car, the organiser says the car park entrances are on Calle Filadelfia and Calle Dakota
  • The organiser does not publish a journey time from the airport, so allow a generous margin for Mexico City traffic

How do you get around during Habitat Expo?

Getting to the halls each day

  • Hotels in Nápoles, the district around the WTC, are the closest; the organiser's hotel page lists three nearby hotels
  • Polifórum on Metrobús is the organiser's recommended stop for visitors using public transport
  • Doors are open from 10:00 to 19:00 on all three days, Thursday 27 to Saturday 29 May
  • Ride hail apps and taxis are the simplest option from Roma, Condesa or further afield; build in time for traffic at the start and end of the day

Planning your visit

  • Your visitor access covers the exhibition floor, the themed pavilions, the immersive Tendencias Habitat space, the free Design Talks and the digital exhibitor directory
  • The organiser runs a business appointments programme, so if you are a buyer or a specifier, arrange meetings with exhibitors before you travel
  • Espacio Contract groups furniture and design for hospitality, which makes it a natural first stop for hotel and restaurant projects
  • Group your stand visits by pavilion, from Pabellón Italia to Pabellón Promesas México, to make the most of three days

Do you need a visa for Habitat Expo?

Visa-free / visa on arrival

  • Citizens of countries including the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and EU countries such as Germany, France, Spain and Italy do not need a visa for business visits of up to 180 days
  • Anyone, whatever their nationality, is also exempt if they hold a valid visa or permanent residence card from Canada, Japan, the USA, the UK or a Schengen country
  • A Mexican consulate notes that an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) does not count as a visa for this exemption

eVisa / visa required

  • Nationals of countries not on Mexico's visa exempt list, such as India and China, need a Mexican visitor visa from a Mexican consulate unless they hold one of the qualifying visas or residence cards
  • Immigration authorities can refuse entry, so apply early and carry the documents that show the purpose of your trip
  • The organiser does not mention a visa letter service on the pages we checked, so contact the Habitat Expo team early if you need a supporting letter

Documents to carry

  • A passport valid when you enter Mexico and for the whole of your stay; Mexico does not set a minimum validity beyond that
  • The Multiple Migratory Form (FMM), provided by your airline or at the port of entry
  • For a business visit, a letter in Spanish from your company confirming your employment and that it pays for the services you provide, or an invitation letter, plus your hotel booking and return ticket

Visa and entry requirements change and vary by nationality; check the current rules with the official Mexican embassy, consulate or government sources before you book.

First time at Habitat Expo?

  • Register online before you go: the organiser's registration for 2027 is free until 31 December 2026, after which the price rises in stages, and it is highest at the box office during the show. A hotel booking with us does not include registration
  • Opening hours are 10:00 to 19:00 on Thursday 27, Friday 28 and Saturday 29 May 2027
  • The Design Talks are free with your visitor access, so check the programme and plan your days around the sessions you want
  • The show uses two connected venues, the CIEC World Trade Center and the Pepsi Center, so check the floor plan for where your key exhibitors are
  • Look through the organiser's digital exhibitor directory before you travel to shortlist the stands and brands you want to see

Insider tips from repeat attendees

  • The organiser's hotel page lists BelAir Business (a Wyndham Garden hotel), Holiday Inn Trade Center and Hotel TRYP by Wyndham with event rates if you mention the event or TRADEX; it notes those rates do not apply on FIFA or Formula 1 Grand Prix dates
  • If you work on hotel, restaurant or contract projects, start with Espacio Contract, the area dedicated to furniture and design for hospitality
  • Saturday 29 May is the last day, so book your key exhibitor meetings for Thursday or Friday and leave Saturday for follow ups
