HAUS-GARTEN-FREIZEIT 2027, Leipzig's home, garden and leisure show, runs for nine days from Saturday 6 to Sunday 14 February 2027 at Leipziger Messe, the exhibition centre on the northern edge of the city. The organiser calls it one of Germany's largest and most successful consumer shows, held since 1991, and 2027 is its 35th edition. Halls 1, 3 and 5 cover gardens, food and specialities, home and interiors, fashion, health and wellness, pets, and modernising, renovating and building. One ticket also gets you into HANDWERK live, the crafts fair that runs alongside it for all nine days, MOTORRÄDER LEIPZIG on the first weekend (6 to 8 February) and the new cycling event Velo Vibes Leipzig on the second weekend (12 to 14 February). The 2026 edition, with HANDWERK live, drew 137,700 visitors and around 690 exhibitors from 24 countries. Most visitors come from central Germany for a day, but exhibitors staying the full run and visitors travelling in for a weekend need a bed. The exhibition centre is about 8 km from the city centre, so the choice is usually between the Innenstadt or the Hauptbahnhof, with trams and S-Bahn trains out to the fair, and hotels in Leipzig Nord nearer the halls. From Leipzig/Halle Airport (LEJ)
- The organiser puts Leipzig/Halle Airport about 10 to 15 minutes from the exhibition centre by motorway, or eight minutes on the S5 S-Bahn, which runs every half hour
- Berlin Brandenburg (BER) and Dresden airports are the other options the organiser lists; it puts the drive from BER to the exhibition centre at just under 2 hours
- From Berlin, the organiser lists a direct ICE to Leipzig of 1 hour 15 minutes from Berlin Central Station and 1 hour 5 minutes from Berlin Südkreuz
- Hotels near the airport in Schkeuditz suit an early flight, while the city centre puts you closer to restaurants for the evening
By rail and road
- Leipzig has hourly connections to all major German cities, according to the organiser, and you change to an S-Bahn towards the Messe at Leipzig Hauptbahnhof or the City Tunnel stations
- The organiser and Deutsche Bahn run a DB event offer for the show, valid only from 6 to 14 February 2027 with an admission ticket or exhibitor pass and bookable online only
- By car, take the A14 exit Leipzig Messegelände or the B2 exit Messegelände; the organiser puts the drive along the B2 from the exhibition centre to the city centre at about 20 minutes
- Parking uses number plate recognition: the first 30 minutes are free, one payment covers the whole day, and you can pay at the machine or online up to 48 hours after you leave
How do you get around during HAUS-GARTEN-FREIZEIT?
Getting to Leipziger Messe each day
- Tram line 16 runs to its final stop, Messegelände, and the organiser's accessibility page notes low floor trams on almost the whole route
- Regional trains and the S-Bahn stop at Leipzig Messe station, about 750 m from the exhibition centre, with lifts at the platform
- Where the ticket says so, your show ticket includes a free return trip on MDV local transport in fare zone 110 on the day of your visit, for the named ticket holder only
- Visitors arriving by public transport enter through Hall 1; drivers from car park P1 enter through Hall 5, and box offices are open at the entrances
Around Leipzig
- The show is open daily from 09:30 to 18:00, so a hotel in the Innenstadt or near the Hauptbahnhof leaves the evening free for the city
- The organiser says around 800 taxis link the airport, the Hauptbahnhof, the city centre and the exhibition centre
- A cycle path runs from the city centre straight to the exhibition grounds, with bike parking at every visitor entrance and an e-bike battery charging station by the administration building
- February in Leipzig can be wintry, so pack a warm layer for the walk between station, tram stop and halls
Do you need a visa for HAUS-GARTEN-FREIZEIT?
