HIGH END, which its organiser calls the leading international audio show, takes place at the Austria Center Vienna from Thursday 6 to Sunday 9 May 2027. After 21 years in Munich the show moved to Vienna in 2026, and its first Vienna edition recorded 23,106 attendees, including 10,603 trade visitors, 11,957 consumers and 549 media representatives from 104 countries, with about 500 exhibitors. Expect high end hi-fi in demonstration rooms and sound cabins, world premieres and product launches, the WORLD OF HEADPHONES area, the IPS parts and supply show, a start-up area and talks on the X-PERT STAGE. Thursday and Friday are trade days for pre-registered trade visitors; Saturday and Sunday are open to the public. The Austria Center Vienna sits beside the UN headquarters at the U1 station Kaisermühlen-VIC, seven minutes from Stephansplatz, so hotels in Donau City, the Innere Stadt, Leopoldstadt and around Vienna Central Station all work. How do you get to HIGH END?
From Vienna Airport (VIE)
- The organiser says the airport is 16 kilometres south east of the city centre, and puts the Airport Express Bus at 30 minutes direct to the Austria Center Vienna and a taxi at 25 minutes
- Vienna Airport Bus Line 3 runs from the airport to Wien Kaisermühlen VIC, the stop for the Austria Center Vienna, and on to Donauzentrum
- Rail works close the central S-Bahn section through Vienna from 7 September 2026 until the end of October 2027, so during HIGH END 2027 the City Airport Train runs as a replacement bus to Wien Mitte/Landstraße, taking 21 minutes with up to five buses an hour
- ÖBB Railjet and Intercity trains run twice an hour nonstop from the airport to Vienna Central Station in about 15 minutes, where the U1 continues to Kaisermühlen-VIC; Vienna Tourist Board advises allowing extra time to and from the airport during the works
Arriving by rail and road
- From Vienna Central Station the U1 reaches the Austria Center Vienna in 20 minutes without changing, according to the venue
- From Westbahnhof take the U3 or U6 and change to the U1; Praterstern is directly on the U1
- For visitors from Germany, the organiser notes that Westbahn trains from Munich Hauptbahnhof reach Vienna Westbahnhof in about four hours, alongside Deutsche Bahn and ÖBB services
- By car, take the A22 motorway and leave at the Austria Center Vienna/VIC (Vienna International Center) exit, or approach over the Reichsbrücke bridge or from Wagramer Strasse; the venue has its own parking garage with 18 charging stations
How do you get around during HIGH END?
Getting to the Austria Center each day
- Opening hours are 10:00 to 18:00 from Thursday to Saturday and 10:00 to 16:00 on Sunday
- The venue is a few minutes on foot from the U1 station Kaisermühlen-VIC, and Stephansplatz in the city centre is seven minutes away on the U1
- The venue says waits on Vienna's subway, tram and bus network are short, 3 to 5 minutes at peak times
- The Vienna City Card, which the venue recommends, bundles public transport with discounts at museums, concerts and restaurants, with an optional airport transfer
Donau City, the Innere Stadt or the Central Station?
- Donau City and Kaisermühlen, beside the UN complex, keep the morning trip to the show shortest, which suits exhibitors with early room set up
- The Innere Stadt has the widest choice of hotels, restaurants and concert venues for the evenings, and the U1 from Stephansplatz takes seven minutes
- Leopoldstadt around Praterstern sits on the U1 between the centre and the venue
- Hotels near Vienna Central Station suit a rail arrival or an early train home, with the U1 running straight to Kaisermühlen-VIC
Do you need a visa for HIGH END?
Visa-free / visa on arrival
- Austria is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens need no visa to enter
- Citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries can visit the Schengen Area without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180 day period, as long as they do not take up work
- Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control
- ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the organiser's travel page expected it in autumn 2026, so check official EU sources before you fly
eVisa / visa required
- Nationals of countries on the EU's common visa list, such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye, need a Schengen short stay (type C) visa, which covers business visits such as trade fairs, applied for through Austrian representations
- Under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months and at least 15 days before travel; standard processing takes 15 days and can be extended to 45
- Tickets go on sale online only, from about mid February 2027, so trade visitors who need a visa should plan their application around that date
Documents to carry
- A passport valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area
- Your trade visitor registration or ticket, plus a valid student ID if you are claiming free student entry
- Your hotel booking, return travel details, a letter from your employer for a business trip and travel medical insurance if you need a visa

First time at HIGH END?
- Thursday 6 and Friday 7 May are open only to trade visitors who have pre-registered; music lovers and hi-fi fans can visit on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 May
- Ticket prices for 2027 were not published when we checked: tickets are sold online only in the organiser's ticket shop, which it expects to open from mid February 2027
- Students get in free on showing a valid student ID
- The show fills several levels of the Austria Center Vienna, from Level minus 2 to Level 3, so plan which demonstration rooms you want to hear before you arrive
- In 2026 the programme included the WORLD OF HEADPHONES, a gaming zone, the X-PERT STAGE talks and a concert by brand ambassador Dominique Fils-Aimé; the 2027 programme had not been announced when we checked

- Exhibitors: the organiser warns that conditions at the Austria Center Vienna differ from the MOC Munich and advises against delivering goods yourself; it names service partners for logistics, and in 2026 room keys needed a €50 cash deposit
- The 2026 venue had outdoor areas and a beer garden that visitors used between listening sessions, according to the organiser, a useful break on the busy public days
- The organiser works only with its official cooperation partner KUONI Tumlare for hotel bookings and warns that offers from other providers are not associated with it.
