The education programme runs from Monday 20 to Friday 24 September 2027 and the show floor is open from Tuesday 21 to Thursday 23 September at VIECON, the Vienna Congress & Convention Center (formerly Messe Wien) in the 2nd district. How do you get to IAAPA Expo Europe?
From Vienna International Airport (VIE)
- The venue says you can reach VIECON from the airport by taxi in around 20 minutes, or by airport bus in about 30 minutes directly to Foyer D at Krieau
- Since 5 September 2026 the new Vienna Airport Bus route VAB 5 runs direct between Praterstern and the airport, and VAB 3 runs from Donauzentrum via Kaisermühlen, Stadion and Donaumarina
- Vienna's S-Bahn core line is closed between Praterstern and Hauptbahnhof from 7 September 2026 to the end of October 2027, so rail links from the airport will run differently during the 2027 Expo; check before you travel
- Austrian Airlines connects Vienna with more than 120 destinations from its hub at the airport, according to the venue
By car and by rail
- VIECON is close to the A23 motorway; for navigation the venue gives Parking Garage A at Nordportalstraße 4 / Max-Koppe-Gasse and Parking Garage D at Trabrennstraße 3, both 1020 Vienna
- There are two parking garages and outdoor parking at Messe-Prater 3
- The venue warns of works on Handelskai for the extension of tram line 18 since January 2026, with two lanes closed, so allow extra time if you drive
- Arriving by train, check how your service is affected by the S-Bahn core line works and plan the U-Bahn leg to Messe-Prater or Krieau on the Wiener Linien journey planner
How do you get around during IAAPA Expo Europe?
Getting to VIECON each day
- U2 stops at Messe-Prater for Foyer A and at Krieau for Foyer D, and the venue says both stations are a few minutes' walk from the main entrances
- All routes into the venue are on one level and signposted, and the venue describes access as barrier free
- The venue recommends checking Wiener Linien for temporary changes around VIECON in 2026 and 2027 before you set off
- The show floor is open on three days, 21 to 23 September, while education sessions and tours run across all five days, so plan your daily trips around the sessions you book

Do you need a visa for IAAPA Expo Europe?

- Austria is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens need no visa to enter
- Citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries can visit the Schengen Area for business without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180 day period
- Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control
- ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the EU says it will announce the start date several months ahead, so check before you fly
eVisa / visa required
- Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay (type C) visa, applied for through Austrian representations or their appointed visa centres
- Under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months and at least 15 days before travel; standard processing takes 15 days and can be extended to 45
- Registration for 2027 had not opened when we checked; once it does, book your Expo badge early so you have the confirmation for your visa application

- A passport valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area
- Your IAAPA Expo Europe badge or registration confirmation, your hotel booking and return travel details
