Getting there
From Frankfurt Airport (FRA)
- FRA is one of Europe's best-connected hubs and only about 12 km from the fairgrounds
- S-Bahn lines S8 and S9 run from the airport regional station to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof in 11-15 minutes; change there for one S-Bahn stop to Messe or a short taxi hop
- A taxi from the airport direct to Messe Frankfurt or a Westend hotel takes about 15-25 minutes and costs roughly EUR 35-50
- Trains run every few minutes at peak times, so public transport is genuinely competitive with taxis even with luggage
By rail via Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof
- Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof is Germany's busiest rail hub, with direct ICE services from Cologne, Berlin, Munich, Basel, Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris
- From the Hauptbahnhof, the Messe is one S-Bahn stop, a short tram ride on lines 16 or 17, or a 20-minute walk

- Trams 16 and 17 also skirt the fairgrounds, giving most central hotels at least two rail options
- From Westend hotels the fair is a 10-20 minute walk, which beats any vehicle at the 09:00 appointment rush
- Taxi drop-off zones at the Messe queue badly at opening time during IMEX, so rail or walking is the reliable choice

- The RMV network of S-Bahn, U-Bahn and trams covers the compact city; buy tickets in the RMV or DB Navigator apps
- Evening receptions cluster in the Innenstadt, Alt-Sachsenhausen and along the river, all 10-20 minutes from Messe hotels by transit
- Taxis are plentiful outside fair hours but slow through the Bahnhofsviertel at the evening peak
