INTERGEO 2027, the trade fair and conference for geodesy, geoinformation and land management, runs from Tuesday 12 to Thursday 14 October 2027 at Messe Frankfurt. Held every year since 1995 at changing locations across Germany, it returns to Frankfurt after the 2026 edition in Munich, which drew more than 18,600 visitors from 121 countries, over 530 exhibitors and 1,250 conference participants. The organiser, DVW (the German Society for Geodesy, Geoinformation and Land Management), runs it with HINTE Expo & Conference, and it brings together surveying and sensor makers, GIS and software providers, public authorities and researchers. In Frankfurt the EXPO fills Halls 12.0 and 12.1 and the CONFERENCE runs in the Portalhaus, side by side in the western part of the exhibition grounds, with the Torhaus entrance at Frankfurt (Main) Messe S-Bahn station. For INTERGEO hotels, the Messe, Westend and Europaviertel areas keep you closest to the halls, while the Bahnhofsviertel and the city centre are a short S-Bahn ride away. How do you get to INTERGEO?
From Frankfurt Airport (FRA)
- Messe Frankfurt puts the trip from Frankfurt Airport to the exhibition grounds at 15 minutes by car or taxi
- Taxis can drop you at the Portalhaus entrance, the building where the INTERGEO CONFERENCE runs, according to Messe Frankfurt
- By train, take S-Bahn line S8 or S9 to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof (main station), then S3, S4, S5 or S6 to Frankfurt (Main) Messe station
- Hotels near the airport suit a late arrival, but most visitors stay in the city for the short daily trip to Hall 12
By rail and road
- Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof, a major ICE hub, is only a few hundred metres from Messe Frankfurt, which puts the walk at around 10 minutes
- INTERGEO asks drivers to follow the Messe signs and recommends the Rebstock car park (sat nav: Zum Messeparkhaus Rebstock), reached directly from the Frankfurt-West motorway exit
- The Rebstock car park lies outside Frankfurt's low emission zone, and Messe Frankfurt runs a shuttle from it to the exhibition grounds when the car park is in operation
- When we checked, Messe Frankfurt warned of road closures and detours from building work around Güterplatz and Europa-Allee, so check the traffic news if you drive in
How do you get around during INTERGEO?
Getting to Hall 12 and the Portalhaus
- The organiser recommends S-Bahn lines S3 to S6 from the Hauptbahnhof to Frankfurt (Main) Messe, about 4 minutes, then the Torhaus entrance and on foot towards Halls 11 and 12
- On the grounds, follow the signs to Hall 12 or the Portalhaus: the EXPO is in Halls 12.0 and 12.1 and the CONFERENCE is in the Portalhaus right next door
- U-Bahn line U4 and trams 16 and 17 stop at Festhalle/Messe by the City entrance, but INTERGEO itself points visitors to the S-Bahn and the Torhaus entrance
- The organiser notes that your INTERGEO ticket may not include travel on the RMV regional transport network, so check the ticket conditions or buy a separate public transport ticket
Around Frankfurt
- Westend and the Europaviertel border the exhibition grounds, and the Bahnhofsviertel lies between the grounds and the Hauptbahnhof
- The city centre and Sachsenhausen, across the Main, suit dinners with clients and partners after the halls close
- Cycling is not allowed on the grounds during events; Messe Frankfurt has bicycle parking at the Portalhaus entrance, among other places
- Mid October in Frankfurt is usually cool and can be wet, so pack a layer and an umbrella for the walk between station and halls
Do you need a visa for INTERGEO?
Visa-free / visa on arrival
- Germany is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
- The German Federal Foreign Office lists citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries as needing no visa for short stays of up to 90 days in any 180 day period
- Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control
- ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the EU says it will announce the start date several months ahead, so check before you fly
eVisa / visa required
- Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay (type C) visa, applied for through German missions or their appointed visa centres
- Under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months and at least 15 days before travel; standard processing takes 15 days and can be extended to 45
- We found no visa letter process on INTERGEO's visitor pages; if your consulate asks for a letter of invitation, contact the organiser early through the INTERGEO contact page
Documents to carry
- A passport valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area
- Your INTERGEO ticket, bought online before you travel, and photo ID
- Hotel booking and return travel details, plus copies of your visa supporting documents and travel medical insurance if you need a visa

First time at INTERGEO?
- INTERGEO 2027 is open from 09:00 to 18:00 on Tuesday 12, Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 October
- Tickets are sold online only: the organiser says they are not available at the on-site box office, so buy before you travel
- Pick the EXPO ticket for the whole exhibition and the EXPO stages, or the CONFERENCE ticket, which adds the conference sessions and also covers the full EXPO
- Invited by an exhibitor? Redeem their voucher in the INTERGEO ticket shop instead of buying a ticket
- Reduced tickets for students, apprentices, retirees and some other groups need proof of eligibility, which you upload while booking
Insider tips from repeat attendees
- In 2026 the CONFERENCE opening and keynotes were open to every ticket holder for the first time, so check the 2027 programme for the Tuesday morning opening before you plan your arrival
- Companies that prefer an invoice can order the CONFERENCE ticket on account until 15 September 2027; after that, pay by PayPal or credit card
