Serbotel, the trade show for food trades, bakery and pastry, hotels and restaurants, returns to the Parc des Expositions de Nantes (Exponantes) from Sunday 17 to Wednesday 20 October 2027. Organised every two years by Exponantes since 1985, the 22nd edition brings bakers, pastry chefs, butchers, caterers, restaurateurs, hoteliers and school and hospital kitchens together with suppliers of food products, kitchen and shop equipment, drinks, furniture, tableware and connected solutions, plus conferences, cooking shows and around twenty competitions. The organiser counted 31,000 visitors across six halls at the 2025 edition. The park sits beside the river Erdre in the north east of Nantes, at the end of tram line 1, so you can stay near the halls at La Beaujoire or in the city centre and ride the tram in each morning. How do you get to Serbotel?
By train
- Exponantes says Nantes is under two hours from Paris with 21 TGV trains a day, and about three hours from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport with four TGV trains a day
- Direct TGV trains also link Nantes with Lille, Lyon, Marseille and Strasbourg, according to the venue
- From Gare de Nantes, the venue puts the tram ride to the exhibition park at about 15 minutes
- Serbotel points visitors from Brittany to the regional TER BreizhGo return fare offer; check the current terms on the SNCF or BreizhGo sites
From Nantes Atlantique Airport (NTE) or by car
- The venue says Nantes Atlantique offers more than 100 direct destinations and is about an hour's flight from Paris or London, with daily flights to Paris Charles de Gaulle and up to four a day to Paris Orly
- Naolib's airport shuttle runs direct between the airport and Hôtel Dieu in the city centre, via Gare Sud, Lieu Unique and Cité des Congrès, seven days a week
- Naolib's timetable for August 2026 to August 2027 shows a shuttle every 30 minutes in winter and every 20 minutes from April to October; the single ticket is €10 (rate from 1 July 2026) and is valid for an hour on trams and buses too
- Driving? The venue lists 5,000 parking spaces right by the park, with direct access from the ring road (périphérique) and motorways, and priority access and reserved spaces for disabled visitors at the main entrance
How do you get around during Serbotel?
Getting to the show each day
- Tram line 1 stops at Beaujoire (direction Beaujoire), which the venue says gives direct access to entrance 1, and at Ranzay (direction Babinière) for entrance 2
- Buses C6 and 75 stop at Beaujoire for entrance 1, and at Batignolles for entrance 2; bus 23 stops at Koufra
- You can park at the Babinière park and ride and take tram line 1 one stop to Ranzay, according to the venue
- Exponantes says all public transport in Nantes is free at weekends, except the airport shuttle, so the opening Sunday costs nothing on trams and buses

- The Gare de Nantes area suits anyone arriving by TGV, with the venue putting the tram ride to the park at about 15 minutes

Do you need a visa for Serbotel?

- France is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
- Citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries can visit the Schengen Area for business without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180 day period
- Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control
- ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the EU says it will announce the start date several months ahead, so check before you fly

- Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay (type C) visa, applied for through France's consulates or their appointed visa centres
- Under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months and at least 15 days before travel; standard processing takes 15 days and can be extended to 45
- Serbotel's website does not mention a visa letter service, so if you need an invitation for your application, ask the exhibitor you are visiting or the show team early

- A passport valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area
- Proof of your professional status for entry, or the free online pre-registration once it opens, plus a student card, ID or other proof if you qualify for free entry
- Hotel booking and return travel details, plus copies of your visa supporting documents and travel medical insurance if you need a visa

First time at Serbotel?
- Opening hours are 9:30 to 19:00 from Sunday 17 to Tuesday 19 October and 9:30 to 18:00 on Wednesday 20 October, so plan a Wednesday evening departure around the earlier close
- Free online pre-registration for professionals and groups was listed as coming soon when we checked; otherwise professionals pay €25 at the door
- Entry is free for students with a student card, minors with ID, job seekers with France Travail proof, and disabled visitors (plus a companion where the card says one is needed)
- The show runs four days and starts on a Sunday, so restaurant and bakery owners often visit on the Sunday or Monday when their own business is quieter
- Several food areas operate on site and there is a taxi rank at the park, according to the organiser
