Getting there
From Lisbon Airport (LIS)
- The venue is unusually close to the airport: the metro Red Line runs from Aeroporto to Oriente, the station beside the venue, in about 10 minutes
- Buy a reloadable Navegante card at the airport metro machines; single metro journeys cost under EUR 2 plus the small one-off card fee
- A taxi or Uber/Bolt from the airport to Parque das Nações takes around 10 minutes off-peak and typically costs roughly EUR 8-15
- Arrivals on Sunday 8 and Monday 9 November are the crunch; taxi queues at LIS get long, and the metro is almost always the faster choice
By rail via Gare do Oriente
- Gare do Oriente, directly opposite the venue, is one of Portugal's main rail hubs with Alfa Pendular and intercity trains from Porto, Coimbra and the Algarve
- Trains from Porto take around three hours and are a genuine alternative to flying for Portuguese and Spanish-connection attendees
- The station also hosts long-distance and international buses, plus the Red Line metro one level down
- From Oriente the venue entrances are a 5-10 minute signposted walk through the Parque das Nações esplanade
Getting around during Web Summit
Getting to Altice Arena & FIL daily
- The Red Line into Oriente is the main artery; from Saldanha it is a direct ride of about 15 minutes, and trains get very full between 08:30 and 10:00 on conference days
- Entry queues for security peak at opening; arriving before 09:00 or after 10:30 saves serious time
- Ride-hail drop-offs near the venue are diverted during Web Summit and walking from the drop point can take as long as the ride, so the metro usually wins
- Hotels within Parque das Nações put the whole venue within a 10-20 minute walk along the river
Around Lisbon
- One Navegante card per person covers metro, buses, trams and the Santa Apolónia and Cais do Sodré rail links; cards cannot be shared
- Uber and Bolt are cheap by European standards but surge hard when Night Summit venues empty around midnight in Cais do Sodré and Bairro Alto
- Lisbon's hills make short distances deceptive downtown; the metro plus walking beats taxis in the old town during the week
- Expect heavier-than-usual traffic on the Segunda Circular and around Oriente all week; leave buffer time for any airport run

eVisa / visa required
- Visitors from India, China, South Africa, Nigeria, Pakistan and most of Asia and Africa need a short-stay Schengen visa applied for through Portuguese consulates or VFS centres
- November is peak season for Schengen applications from Web Summit attendees, so apply 6-10 weeks ahead and use the event's official invitation-letter process if you need one
- ETIAS, the pre-travel authorisation for visa-free nationals, is due to begin in the last quarter of 2026 with a grace period; check its status close to your travel dates

- Night Summit is where deals and hires actually happen; pace yourself, because the useful conversations tend to occur after the second venue, not the first
- Thursday, the final day, has the thinnest crowds and the easiest access to investors who spent Tuesday and Wednesday fully booked
- Food queues inside the venue are long at 13:00 sharp; the restaurants along the Parque das Nações riverfront are a 10-minute walk and calmer
- Leave the venue by 17:30 or wait until after 19:00; the Oriente metro crush in between is the most crowded moment of the entire week

Saldanha and Avenidas Novas give you a direct Red Line metro ride of about 15 minutes, while Baixa and the riverside centre are best if you want Night Summit on your doorstep and do not mind a 25-30 minute metro commute.
How much do hotels cost during Web Summit?
Web Summit week is one of the most expensive hotel weeks of the Lisbon calendar; rates near the venue and in the centre commonly run at double or more their normal November level, and walkable Parque das Nações rooms carry the biggest premiums.
How early should I book hotels for Web Summit?
Serious attendees book as soon as tickets are confirmed, often four to six months out. By September the walkable options are largely gone; booking early with free cancellation costs nothing and protects you against the late-autumn price climb.
Which airport do I fly into for Web Summit?
Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) is the only sensible option and happens to be exceptionally convenient, sitting three metro stops from the venue on the Red Line. Porto is a three-hour train ride away if flight prices into Lisbon spike.
Do I need to plan evenings separately from the conference?
Yes. Night Summit, the official evening programme, spreads across downtown districts like Cais do Sodré each night and is where much of the networking happens. It is included with your ticket, but venues fill on a first-come basis, so check the app each afternoon and head out early.
