About MEO Arena

The MEO Arena is Portugal's largest indoor venue: a 20,100-capacity concert arena with a steep modern bowl around a flexible floor that scales from around 5,500 for intimate shows up to full arena capacity. Built for Expo '98, it hosts the country's biggest concert tours as well as futsal, basketball, tennis and major congresses.

The MEO Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena in the Parque das Nações district of Lisbon, built for Expo '98 where it opened as the Pavilhão da Utopia. Designed by Portuguese architect Regino Cruz with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the €55 million building is one of the largest indoor arenas in Europe and the largest in Portugal, seating 20,000. It is owned and operated by Live Nation Entertainment, and its smooth steel-shell roof has made it a landmark of the modern riverside district. The main floor sits 6.4 metres below ground level, which reduces the building's visual impact and its heating and cooling costs.

The MEO Arena has a dedicated reduced-mobility area on the first floor, facing the stage, with a panoramic view of the hall; each wheelchair user may bring one companion. The area is reached via an accessible entrance on the north side of the venue's garage (the FIL side), with ramps, wide corridors and lifts, and there are accessible toilets nearby. A free audio-description service for visually impaired attendees runs through a smartphone app, and Portuguese Sign Language interpretation and vibrating sensory vests are available for deaf and hard-of-hearing attendees. Accessible parking for adapted vehicles must be requested in advance. The arena stands at Rossio dos Olivais in Parque das Nações, about 400 metres from Oriente station, which is served by the Lisbon Metro Red Line, national and international trains and the main bus terminal. Carris bus lines 705, 725, 750, 759 and 794 (plus night lines 208 and 210) stop at the venue, and taxis wait at Oriente station and by the Vasco da Gama Shopping Centre. Drivers can use the Arena Expo Parking or surrounding public car parks; the arena is about 4 km from the airport and 10 km from the city centre.
