About Mission Hills Haikou — Blackstone Course

The Blackstone Course is the flagship of Mission Hills Haikou, a colossal resort on the tropical island of Hainan whose Schmidt-Curley layouts were carved from black volcanic lava fields. Designed by Brian Curley and Lee Schmidt and opened in 2010, Blackstone plays to a burly par 73 of more than 7,800 yards, with fairways cut in a single sweep of turf between jagged lava outcrops, dense jungle and wetland areas on the back nine. It hosted the 2011 World Cup of Golf, has staged the star-studded World Celebrity Pro-Am since 2011, and became host of the DP World Tour's Hainan Classic in 2024. Part of a ten-course resort with a spa and volcanic mineral springs, it welcomes visitors and resort guests alike for one of Asia's most distinctive rounds.

Signature hole

Blackstone is defined by its black volcanic lava rock — fairways are cut in a single sweep of turf between jagged lava outcrops and dense jungle, with the wetland-laced back nine and raised volcanic terrain giving the course its unmistakable, otherworldly character.
