Getting to Telford International Centre

Telford International Centre is on International Way in Telford, Shropshire, postcode TF3 4JH. It sits on the edge of Telford town centre, beside Southwater Square and Telford Town Park. The venue's phone number is 01952 281 500. It is part of the Southwater Event Group, which also runs several of the hotels around it.

By road, the venue says it is about five minutes from the M54, using junctions 4 and 5. An event organiser's travel page, which repeats the venue's directions, adds that it is just over two miles from junction 4. Coming south from the north on the M6, that page says to leave at junction 12 and take the A5 west for about a mile to Gailey Island, then the A449, then join the M54 westbound to junction 4. Coming north on the M6, join the M54 at M6 junction 10A and head west to junction 4. From the M6 Toll, that page says to leave at junction T8 and follow the A460 towards Wolverhampton, then join the M54 at junction 1 and head west. Use TF3 4JH for your sat nav. Always check the final approach on the day of your event, because the organiser may close or redirect some roads and car parks during busy build up and show days.

By train, the nearest station is Telford Central. The venue's FAQ says it is approximately a ten minute walk or a short taxi ride, while an organiser's travel page says it is less than a mile and about a fifteen minute walk. That is a fair spread, so allow fifteen minutes if you are carrying luggage or walking in poor weather. The venue also says buses run frequently between the station and the venue. It does not publish route numbers on the pages we read, so check the current bus operator timetable for the stop you need. Telford Central station is managed by West Midlands Railway and has step free access to all platforms, lifts, toilets, ticket machines and a car park with a drop off and pick up point, according to National Rail.

By air, the venue says Birmingham Airport is about a 50 minute drive. The venue also describes Telford as central to Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool airports, and says 98 percent of the country is within a three hour drive. For most visitors from outside the region the simplest plan is a train to Telford Central, or a car to the M54 and the on site car parks.

Entrances and halls at Telford International Centre

The venue's own pages describe three interlinking ground floor halls, each about 12 metres high. Hall 1 and Hall 2 are each 3,420 square metres, which the venue gives as 90 metres by 38 metres. Hall 3 is listed as 60 metres by 43.5 metres, although the venue's pages show two different figures for its area, so do not rely on a single number for Hall 3. Together the three halls offer about 9,840 square metres, and the venue's pages also show 9,740 square metres in one place. The halls can be used separately or joined, and the venue says it can host trade exhibitions from 1,500 square metres up to its full capacity of around 10,000 square metres.

Hall 1 has direct vehicle access and an off road loading area, and it sits next to the registration and concourse areas and the Ludlow Concourse. Hall 2 has its own external access point. The Ludlow Suite, also on the ground floor, has direct vehicle access and an off road loading area too. It is about 1,300 square metres, can be split into three, and the venue suggests it for smaller or incubator style exhibitions. The venue does not name a single main public entrance on the pages we read, so follow the signs and the organiser's visitor information on the day.

Upstairs, the Ironbridge Suite is a first floor space of about 1,296 square metres that can be arranged as an auditorium for up to 1,200 people, including 636 tiered seats, or divided into three rooms. The venue lists seventeen breakout rooms around the halls and suites. These include the Beckbury, Pattingham, Newport and Ryton suites on the ground floor, and the Gallery, Atcham, Coalport and Wenlock suites on the first floor, plus the Jackfield Boardroom, which holds up to 18 people. The Gallery has daylight and looks over Southwater Square, which is useful for receptions and smaller shows.

On accessibility, the venue states there are automatic doors and ramped access at every entrance, a lift in the Reception Foyer serving the first floor, accessible toilets on the ground and first floors, and baby changing facilities. Hearing loops can be hired on request, and assistance dogs are welcome. Mobility scooters and wheelchairs can be hired but must be pre booked, with photo ID and a signed agreement at collection. Check the venue's accessibility page for the current hire terms.

Last trains and getting back late

We could not verify a last train time from Telford Central on an official timetable, so we are not quoting one. Departure times change with the timetable period and differ by day. The reliable way to check is the live departures page on National Rail for station code TFC, and the operator's own timetable for the date you are travelling. Check the operator timetable on the day, and again before you leave the venue.

What we can confirm from National Rail is that the station ticket office and staff help are staffed Monday to Saturday from 06:00 to 19:00 and on Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00. Outside those hours you will use the ticket machines and help points. The station also has a car park and a drop off and pick up point.

Remember the walk. The venue says the station is about ten minutes on foot, and an organiser's page says about fifteen. If a show finishes late, or you are carrying stands and boxes, a taxi or a pre arranged taxi is the practical answer. The venue also says buses run frequently between the station and the venue, but we could not verify evening bus times or the last departure, so treat buses as a daytime option unless you have checked the timetable.

If your plans are tight, the safest approach is to stay close and travel the next morning. Several hotels are a few minutes' walk from the halls, so you can avoid the question of the last train completely. The hotel sections below explain which ones are closest.

Parking at Telford International Centre

The venue says it has over 1,500 car parking spaces right next to the halls, plus electric vehicle charging. Charges vary by event, so check with the organiser of the show you are attending. Parking does not need to be pre booked, and there is no booking system for the accessible spaces. The venue's pages do not give car park names or numbers, so we have not invented any. Follow the signs and any instructions in your event email.

For accessible parking, the venue states there are 13 accessible spaces in the on site car park and a further 9 in the on site multi storey car park. Passenger drop off is not described as a separate area. Hall 1 and the Ludlow Suite have vehicle access and loading areas, but those are working areas for build and break rather than a visitor drop off. Ask the organiser or the venue if you need to be dropped close to a door.

For electric vehicles, the venue's FAQ says there are four chargers on site, and eighteen more in the nearest town centre car park, which it describes as just over a five minute walk away. Four chargers will not serve a full show, so do not plan on charging at the venue. Charge before you arrive, or use a town centre charger.

Several other car parks are near the venue in Telford town centre. One that hotel pages name is the Southwater multi storey car park on Northfield Street. Premier Inn says it is the car park for its Telford International Centre hotel, which has no parking of its own, and that the multi storey has a 1.9 metre height restriction. If you drive a van, tall estate or a vehicle with roof boxes, check that restriction before you enter. Telford and Wrekin Council manages some of the town's public car parks and says twenty four of its car parks are free, but its page does not say which ones, so check the sign on the day.

Exhibitors should note that the venue's tenancy hire includes build and break traffic management and allocated parking for exhibitors and organisers. Ask your organiser for the exhibitor car park instructions rather than parking in the public car parks, and ask which vehicle gate to use.

Which side of Telford International Centre to stay on

Telford International Centre is part of a cluster the venue calls the Event Campus or Event Quarter. It includes Southwater Square, Telford Town Park and the Telford Centre shopping centre. Almost every hotel that matters is within that cluster, so the choice is less about compass direction and more about which of three small areas suits you.

The first is the venue itself and Southwater Square. The voco Telford Ironbridge and The International Hotel are next to the halls, and the Premier Inn at Southwater Square and the Travelodge in Park Avenue are the closest budget options. If you want the shortest walk with a heavy bag or stand materials, this is the area. It is also where the evening dining and entertainment is, so it is the best side for anyone who wants to eat out without a taxi.

The second area is the station side. The Premier Inn Telford Central is next to Telford Central railway station, and the venue says it is a fifteen minute walk or a two minute drive from the halls. The venue's hotel news also states that a Hampton by Hilton is planned for the Station Quarter in Telford centre, opening in 2027, with a five to ten minute walk to the venue. Staying near the station is sensible if you arrive by train and leave early, but the walk to the halls is longer than from Southwater.

The third area is the Ramada Telford Ironbridge and the Mercure Telford Centre, which the venue lists opposite one another. The venue describes the Ramada as a fifteen minute walk or two minute drive. These suit people who want a pool and gym, or who have a car, but they are not the closest choice if you will be on foot at 07:00 for exhibitor registration.

As a rule, if you are exhibiting, stay at Southwater or the on site hotels. If you are a visitor arriving by train for one day, you may not need a hotel at all.

Budget hotel brands near Telford International Centre: what we could confirm

Two budget chains have hotels in the Southwater area itself. The Premier Inn Telford International Centre is at Southwater Square, with 84 bedrooms according to the venue's hotel news. The venue describes it as less than a two minute walk, and Premier Inn's own page says it is a five minute walk from the International Centre. The two figures differ because people walk at different speeds and start from different doors, so plan for five minutes. Premier Inn says there is no on site parking at this hotel, and points guests to the Southwater multi storey car park. Check the current rate and the parking arrangement when you book.

The Travelodge Telford is on Park Avenue in Southwater, with 84 bedrooms according to the venue's hotel news. Travelodge's own page describes it as next door to the International Centre and says the Telford Central rail station is a mile away. The venue's news describes it as opposite the venue. Travelodge says it has a restaurant on the ground floor that is a separate venue, snacks and drinks around the clock, a staffed reception, and four accessible parking bays only, with other guests directed to the Southwater multi storey on Northfield Street.

The Premier Inn Telford Central, with 89 bedrooms, is next to Telford Central station. It is cheaper to reach by train but further from the halls, so it suits visitors who want to be near the platform. The venue says it is a fifteen minute walk or a two minute drive to the centre.

We do not quote room prices here, because they change by date and by event. During large shows the closest budget hotels fill first. If you are travelling as a team and need several rooms near the halls, you can book with a company invoice and ask for a custom quote through Event Escapes.

How close are the hotels to Telford International Centre on foot?

The venue says there are 400 bedrooms on site and about 700 more within walking distance, with around 1,200 across the local area. Its FAQ says there are eight hotels in the local area, four on site and four within walking distance. Here is what the venue and the hotels say about each.

The voco Telford Ironbridge has 152 bedrooms and is described by the venue as adjacent to the venue and Telford Town Park. It was the Holiday Inn Telford Ironbridge until it rebranded as a voco hotel after a refurbishment. The venue says it has an on site leisure club and restaurant and free parking. The International Hotel has 101 bedrooms and is described as next door to the venue. The venue's hotel news places it between the Centre and the former Holiday Inn.

The Premier Inn Telford International Centre and the Travelodge in Southwater are the two closest budget options, as set out above. The Ramada Telford Ironbridge has 95 bedrooms, an on site restaurant, gym and swimming pool, and is described as a fifteen minute walk or two minute drive. The Mercure Telford Centre has 153 bedrooms and is opposite the Ramada. The Premier Inn Telford Central has 89 bedrooms, beside the railway station.

If walking is important, treat the voco, The International Hotel, Premier Inn Southwater and Travelodge as the walkable core, and the Ramada, Mercure and station hotels as a longer walk or a short drive. Because the venue publishes different walking times for the same hotels in different places, we have kept to its wording rather than adding our own timings.

Upmarket hotels near Telford International Centre: what we could confirm

The best placed upscale hotel is the voco Telford Ironbridge. It is part of IHG's premium voco brand, and the venue's news says it completed a refurbishment of 5.5 million pounds before rebranding. That work included a refreshed Olive Tree Restaurant, Bar and Lounge, upgraded bedrooms and improved Wi Fi. Free parking and access to the Revive Leisure Club are retained. It is described as adjacent to the venue and the Town Park, so you can walk to the halls.

The International Hotel is next door to the venue with 101 bedrooms. The venue's pages do not give a star rating or facilities for it, so we cannot describe it beyond its position. Check its own website for current details.

The Ramada Telford Ironbridge is the other full service option, with a restaurant, gym and swimming pool, and it is within easy reach of the venue, the Telford Centre and the Town Park. The Mercure Telford Centre has 153 bedrooms and sits opposite it. Both are a short drive or a longer walk from the halls.

For a conference or a client trip, the voco and The International Hotel are the most convenient because you can step from hotel to hall. The Southwater Event Group runs the venue and several of these hotels, and the venue's visitor page points to a booking link on the group's site. You can also ask Event Escapes for a custom quote for a team.

Eating and evenings near Telford International Centre

Southwater Square sits directly beside the venue. The venue describes it as a leisure destination with dining, nightlife, an outdoor events space, the Southwater One library and accommodation. Travelodge's own page describes the area as having a cinema, tenpin bowling and ice skating, along with a good variety of restaurants. We have not verified individual restaurants, opening hours or menus, and chains come and go, so use a current map for the evening you are there.

The Telford Centre shopping centre is nearby and the venue mentions Putt Putt Noodle there as an eating option. Inside the venue, food is provided through its food and beverage team rather than a named cafe. It offers retail catering with quick bites and hot drinks, drinks receptions and gala dinners, and handles vegetarian, vegan and gluten free requests and allergen management. What is on sale at a given show is set by the organiser.

The hotels also have their own dining. The voco has the Olive Tree Restaurant, Bar and Lounge, and the Ramada has an on site restaurant. Travelodge describes a separate restaurant on the ground floor of its building.

Telford Town Park is next to the venue and is an easy place to walk between hall sessions. For a quiet evening, the closest and simplest plan is to eat in Southwater Square and be back at a Southwater hotel in minutes, rather than taking a taxi from the station area.

Tips for exhibitors and visitors

For exhibitors, the venue's in house production team, stagecraftUK, provides exhibition management, a lead project manager and a digital exhibitor ordering system, and can work with your existing suppliers. The venue handles rigging and power through that team, and tenancy hire includes fire stewards, build and break traffic management and allocated parking for exhibitors and organisers. The pages we read do not give floor loading limits, power specifications or build and dismantle schedules, so ask your organiser for the exhibitor manual.

Plan your load in around the doors. Hall 1 has direct vehicle access and an off road loading area, Hall 2 has its own external access point, and the Ludlow Suite has vehicle access. Ask your organiser which door and time slot you have, because they are set per event.

For visitors, check parking charges with the organiser before you travel, because they vary by event and parking is not pre booked. If you need accessible parking, arrive early because spaces cannot be reserved. If you use a mobility scooter or wheelchair, book hire in advance through the venue.

Food at shows is run by the venue's catering team, and dietary needs can be met, but choose a plan for longer days. Some events set age limits, for example the Furniture Component Expo page says visitors must be over 16, so check the age rules for your event before bringing children.

Finally, the venue recommends a site visit before booking an event, which you can arrange through its site tour form. For hotel bookings around a show, book early. The closest hotels are small compared with the show crowds.
