2 Dec – 5 Dec 2026 National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) 253,500 attendees
Automechanika Shanghai fills the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Hongqiao from 2 to 5 December 2026, drawing roughly 253,500 trade visitors to one of the world's largest automotive parts, aftermarket and mobility-supply-chain shows. Organised by Messe Frankfurt, it packs more than 6,000 exhibitors into the NECC's vast four-leaf-clover halls — parts makers, workshop-equipment brands, e-mobility and connectivity suppliers — with buyers arriving from across Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe. The venue's location is its own story: NECC sits beside the Hongqiao transport hub, one metro stop from Hongqiao airport and the high-speed railway station, so the hotel stock in Hongqiao, Qingpu and Changning absorbs both exhibitors and the December business-travel baseline, and sells through early. The hotel rates on this page are live and bookable, letting you lock in venue-side accommodation before the pre-show squeeze.

Hongqiao is the obvious answer — hotels attached to the NECC or around the Hongqiao transport hub put you within one metro stop or a short walk. Qingpu (west of the venue) and Changning (toward the city) are strong alternatives on the Line 2 corridor with more availability and better prices.
Venue-adjacent Hongqiao hotels typically run two to three times their normal rates during the show and sell out weeks ahead. Prices step down noticeably one or two metro stops away, so a 15-minute commute can halve the bill.
Three to six months out for NECC-adjacent properties, earlier if you need multiple rooms as an exhibiting team. December has little leisure competition, so the ring outside Hongqiao stays bookable longer.
Hongqiao (SHA) if you can — it is one metro stop from the venue — but it mainly serves domestic and short-haul East Asian routes. Most international attendees land at Pudong (PVG) and should budget 60-100 minutes for the cross-city transfer.
Possibly not: China's 30-day visa-free scheme covers about 50 countries, including most of Europe, the UK, Canada, Australia, Japan and South Korea, through the end of 2026. US and Indian passport holders generally need an M business visa or to qualify for the 240-hour visa-free transit.
