For 2027 it moves to a new venue: the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai, on the west side of the city by Hongqiao airport and railway station, from 16 to 18 June 2027. The 2026 edition, held at SNIEC in Pudong, recorded 129,172 visits and 3,701 exhibiting companies, with visitors from 168 countries and regions. How do you get to CPHI China?
From Hongqiao Airport (SHA) and Hongqiao Railway Station
- Hongqiao is the closest airport to NECC: Terminal 2 is served by Metro Lines 2 and 10, and the Shanghai government's airport guide notes that Line 2 gives direct access to the National Exhibition and Convention Center
- Terminal 1 is on Line 10, which links it with Terminal 2 for the change to Line 2
- Hongqiao Railway Station, the main high-speed rail hub, connects Lines 2, 10 and 17, and Line 17 also has its own NECC station
- Taxis and ride-hailing apps such as DiDi are available at the terminals; the organiser's FAQ lists DiDi, Meituan and the city's taxi hotlines
From Pudong Airport (PVG)
- Many long-haul flights land at Pudong, on the far east side of the city and about 40 km from Hongqiao airport
- Metro Line 2 starts at Pudong Airport Terminal 1&2 station and crosses the city to NECC; the Shanghai government puts the airport to People's Square stretch alone at about an hour, so allow considerably longer to the venue
- The maglev runs from Pudong airport to Longyang Road, where you can change to Line 2 westbound
- A taxi is the easiest choice with luggage, but it is a long cross-city drive, so avoid booking meetings for the evening you land
How do you get around during CPHI China?
Daily travel to NECC
- Line 2 stops at National Exhibition and Convention Center station, where city guidance for large NECC events points visitors to the exits for the West Entrance
- Line 17's NECC station links by an underground passage to the North Square and North Entrance, and the city recommends it as the less crowded way in and out at busy events
- From central hotels on Line 2, such as those around Jing'an and People's Square, the metro avoids the traffic around the venue at opening and closing
- NECC is a very large complex, so check the CPHI China floor plan once it is published and group your meetings by hall
Around Shanghai
- Alipay and WeChat Pay both accept foreign bank cards, and the organiser suggests setting one up for almost all payments, from taxis to street food
- The organiser notes that some services you use at home, such as Gmail, are not reachable in China without a VPN; arrange roaming or a local SIM before you need it
- Have your hotel address written in Chinese for taxi drivers, or book a car through a ride-hailing app such as DiDi
- June in Shanghai is warm, humid and often wet, so carry an umbrella between the metro and the halls
Do you need a visa for CPHI China?
Visa-free / visa on arrival
- China's unilateral visa-free scheme lets ordinary passport holders from more than 40 countries, including France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland, stay up to 30 days for business, tourism, visits, exchange and transit; it is confirmed to 31 December 2026, so check whether it has been extended before travelling in June 2027
- The organiser's visa page also lists the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea and Singapore among the countries with 30 day visa-free entry for business and tourism
- Nationals of 55 countries, including the United States, can use the 240 hour visa-free transit policy if they hold a confirmed onward ticket to a third country or region
eVisa / visa required
- Travellers who do not qualify for visa-free entry need a visa before travel; the organiser points to the Chinese Visa Application Service Center to start an application
- The organiser says details of visa invitation letter applications will be published closer to the event, so check the CPHI China FAQ in early 2027
- The organiser advises not to leave your visa late, as it takes time to arrange
Documents to carry
- A passport valid for at least six months with blank pages
- Your CPHI China registration confirmation and, if you used one for your visa, the invitation letter
- Your hotel booking and a return or onward ticket, which are checked in particular for transit visa-free entry
China's entry rules are revised often; verify the current position with the Chinese embassy or official immigration sources before you book.
First time at CPHI China?
- CPHI China is a trade event, and the organiser does not admit anyone under 18 to the exhibition
- Visitor registration for 2027 is not open yet; the organiser's register your interest page will tell you when it goes live
- Opening hours are 09:30 to 18:00 on 16 June, 09:00 to 18:00 on 17 June and 09:00 to 15:30 on 18 June, so the last day ends early
- PMEC China, covering pharma machinery, packaging and laboratory equipment, runs under the same event, so leave time for those zones if you source equipment
- Set up Alipay or WeChat Pay with your card before you fly, as it makes taxis, meals and small purchases much simpler
Insider tips from repeat attendees
- If you stayed near SNIEC in Pudong for earlier editions, do not rebook the same hotel: the 2027 show is at NECC, on the opposite side of Shanghai
- Hotels in the Hongqiao hub keep the halls, the airport and the high-speed rail station all close, which suits factory visits elsewhere in China before or after the show
- The 15:30 close on the final day makes an evening flight from Hongqiao realistic, but allow for queues at the metro as the halls empty

Which Shanghai areas are best for a CPHI China hotel?
Hongqiao and the Xujing area around the venue are closest. Changning and Jing'an are good alternatives on or near Metro Line 2, which stops at NECC. Pudong and Lujiazui, popular when the show was at SNIEC, now mean a long ride across the city.
How do I get to the National Exhibition and Convention Center?
Take Metro Line 2 or Line 17 to National Exhibition and Convention Center station. Line 2 also serves Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2 and Pudong airport, and Line 17 connects with Lines 2 and 10 at Hongqiao Railway Station.
Is CPHI China the same as CPHI Frankfurt or CPHI India?
No. CPHI China is the Shanghai edition. The European show, now held in Frankfurt, and CPHI India in New Delhi are separate events with their own dates and venues, and CPHI also runs a separate show in Shenzhen.
Do I need to register to attend CPHI China?
Yes. CPHI China is a trade event for professionals aged 18 and over. Registration for 2027 is not open yet; you can sign up on the official site to be told when it opens. Your registration is separate from your hotel booking.
