The Databricks Data + AI Summit 2026 fills San Francisco's Moscone Center from 15-18 June, bringing together more than 30,000 data engineers, data scientists, ML engineers, analysts and technology leaders from over 150 countries. It has grown into one of the world's largest data and AI conferences, with 800-plus breakout sessions, hands-on training and certification days, and keynotes where Databricks ships its biggest platform announcements of the year. Moscone sits in SoMa, a dense downtown block where walkable hotel inventory is finite: the properties around Yerba Buena Gardens, Third Street and Union Square absorb tens of thousands of attendees and corporate blocks in days once registration opens. This page tracks live bookable rates at hotels ranked by genuine walking distance to Moscone South, West and North, so you can compare real prices before the nearby stock is gone.

Popular areas for attendees: SoMa · Union Square · Financial District.

Getting there

From SFO (San Francisco International Airport)

  • BART trains run directly from the international terminal to Powell Street station in about 30 minutes for roughly US$10-11; Moscone is then a 10-minute walk down Fourth Street
  • Taxis to SoMa take 25-45 minutes depending on US-101 traffic and typically cost US$50-70
  • Uber and Lyft pick up from designated zones at the domestic garage and international level; fares undercut taxis off-peak but surge during Summit arrival waves
  • If you land in the evening rush (4-7pm), BART is reliably faster than any car

From OAK (Oakland International Airport)

  • Oakland often has cheaper domestic fares and is a legitimate alternative - about 45-55 minutes to downtown San Francisco by BART via the airport connector
  • BART from OAK to Powell Street costs slightly more than from SFO once the connector is included, but avoids Bay Bridge traffic entirely
  • A taxi or ride-hail from OAK crosses the Bay Bridge and can take an hour or more at peak, usually US$60-90
  • San Jose (SJC) is a third option but leaves you an expensive 50-mile transfer; only use it for a compelling fare

Getting around during Databricks Data + AI Summit

Getting to Moscone Center daily

  • Muni Metro's T Third line stops at Yerba Buena/Moscone station, directly beside the venue - the single most useful transit fact of the week
  • Powell Street station (BART and Muni) is a 10-minute walk away, connecting Moscone to Union Square hotels and both airports
  • Within SoMa and Union Square, walking beats driving: most Summit hotels are 5-20 minutes on foot from the halls
  • Ride-hail drop-offs around Howard and Third streets get gridlocked before the morning keynote - if you must ride, get out a couple of blocks away

Around San Francisco

  • Pay for BART and Muni with a Clipper card or the Clipper app; single Muni rides are under US$3 and BART is distance-based
  • Taxis are scarce compared with ride-hail; Uber, Lyft and Waymo robotaxis are the practical car options downtown
  • June in San Francisco is famously cool and foggy - pack a layer for evenings even if daytime is sunny
  • Expect heavy pedestrian traffic and slow crosstown driving around Moscone all week; transit and feet win

Visa & entry

Visa-free / visa on arrival

  • Business visitors from Visa Waiver Program countries - the UK, most of the EU, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and others - enter with an ESTA rather than a visa for stays under 90 days
  • Apply for ESTA online (around US$40, valid two years); do it when you register, not the week you fly
  • Canadians attend visa-free with just a passport; there is no on-arrival visa option in the United States for other nationalities

eVisa / visa required

  • Attendees from India, China, Brazil, and most of Africa, the Middle East and Latin America need a B-1 business visitor visa with an in-person interview at a US consulate
  • Consular appointment backlogs differ hugely by country - some run over six months - so begin immediately after committing to the Summit
  • Budget for the extra US$250 visa integrity fee now applied to most newly issued nonimmigrant visas, and note Chinese nationals must keep EVUS enrolment valid alongside a B1/B2 visa

Documents to carry

  • Passport plus printed ESTA approval or visa, and your Data + AI Summit registration confirmation
  • Hotel confirmation and return or onward flight details, which border officers commonly request from conference travellers
  • B-1 interviewees should carry an employer letter explaining the business purpose and who pays for the trip

Entry requirements and fees are subject to change - verify with your nearest US embassy or the official State Department and CBP sites before you book.

First time at Databricks Data + AI Summit?

  • Monday is training and certification day; if you only hold a conference pass, arriving Monday afternoon still lets you clear badge pickup before Tuesday's keynote crush
  • The Tuesday morning keynote queue forms very early - either arrive well before doors or watch comfortably from an overflow room
  • Sessions repeat rarely and rooms cap out; favourite popular sessions in the app early and have a second choice for every slot
  • Moscone is three buildings (North, South and West) separated by city streets - check which building each session is in and allow crossing time
  • Hotels within a five-minute walk of Moscone sell out almost immediately; Union Square, a 15-minute walk, is the reliable fallback with the deepest inventory

Insider tips from repeat attendees

  • Thursday is the quiet day - thinner crowds at demo stations and the easiest time to corner Databricks engineers with hard questions
  • The real networking happens at the partner and vendor evening events around SoMa; the expo-floor happy hour is the warm-up, not the main event
  • Conference lunch queues peak sharply at 12:30; the food halls and cafes around Yerba Buena Gardens are faster and better
  • Take the T Third Muni line one stop instead of queuing for ride-hail after the evening events - it clears the Moscone crowd instantly

Databricks Data + AI Summit travel FAQs

Where should I stay for the Databricks Data + AI Summit?

SoMa hotels around Third and Howard streets put you within a few minutes' walk of Moscone, and Yerba Buena properties are effectively on site. Union Square, about 10-15 minutes on foot, offers the largest supply of 4-5 star rooms at somewhat gentler prices.

How much do hotels cost during the Data + AI Summit?

Downtown San Francisco rates rise steeply during Summit week - commonly one and a half to two times normal midweek pricing, with the closest SoMa hotels marking up the most. Booking early matters more than hunting for discounts later.

How early should I book hotels for the Data + AI Summit?

Three to six months ahead is sensible; the walkable core sells out fastest. Free-cancellation rates make it safe to book the day you decide to attend and adjust later.

Which airport do I fly into for the Data + AI Summit?

SFO is the primary choice with a direct BART ride to Powell Street near Moscone. Oakland (OAK) is a solid alternative when fares are better, also connected by BART.

Do I need a car at the Data + AI Summit?

No - and parking in SoMa is expensive and scarce. The venue, hotels, restaurants and evening events all sit within a walkable core served by BART and Muni, so most attendees never sit in a car after the airport transfer.
