Dreamforce 2026 returns to San Francisco's Moscone Center from 15–17 September, and no event distorts the city's hotel market quite like it. Salesforce's flagship conference draws around 45,000 in-person attendees — admins, developers, architects, consultants, partners and C-suite customers from the entire Salesforce ecosystem — plus a swirl of side events across SoMa. The campus spills beyond Moscone itself: Howard Street between the halls is closed and rebuilt into the Dreamforce grounds, and keynotes, expo floors and 1,600+ sessions spread across Moscone North, South and West. Hotels in SoMa and around Union Square, all within a 10-minute walk, sell out months ahead and at some of the year's highest citywide rates. This page lays out the airport connections, the street-closure reality, US entry rules and the booking timeline, alongside live, bookable rates near Moscone Center for the 2026 dates.

Popular areas for attendees: SoMa · Union Square · Financial District.

Getting there

From San Francisco International (SFO)

  • BART runs from the SFO station directly to Powell Street in about 30 minutes; Moscone Center is then a 10-minute walk down 4th Street
  • Rideshare and taxis take 25–50 minutes to SoMa depending on US-101 traffic, with pickups from the designated airport zones
  • Trains run every 10–15 minutes for most of the day — for a 9am keynote arrival, BART is far more predictable than the freeway
  • Use a Clipper card or tap a contactless bank card at the BART fare gates

From Oakland (OAK) and San Jose (SJC)

  • Oakland Airport connects via its own BART link; downtown San Francisco is roughly 45 minutes away and fares are similar to SFO routings
  • From San Jose, Caltrain runs from Diridon station to San Francisco's 4th & King, about 65–90 minutes, followed by a short Muni ride or 15-minute walk to Moscone
  • OAK is often calmer and cheaper for domestic arrivals during Dreamforce week when SFO schedules bunch up
  • A rideshare from SJC to SoMa takes an hour or more — rail is usually the saner option at peak times

Getting around during Dreamforce

Getting to Moscone Center daily

  • Howard Street between 3rd and 4th closes during Dreamforce to form the campus core, so plan walking routes via Mission or Folsom Streets
  • Powell and Montgomery BART/Muni stations are both about a 10-minute walk from the halls; the Muni Metro T line's Yerba Buena/Moscone station is closer still
  • From Union Square and most SoMa hotels, walking beats any vehicle — drop-off congestion around Moscone is severe at keynote times
  • Badge queues cluster at Moscone West and the registration points early on day one; arriving before 8am pays off

Around San Francisco

  • Muni buses and Metro plus BART cover the core; tap Clipper or a contactless card on both systems
  • Uber, Lyft and Waymo autonomous taxis all operate downtown, but SoMa pickup zones jam during Dreamforce evenings
  • The conference footprint — Moscone, Union Square, the Embarcadero party venues — is compact enough that most attendees walk everywhere
  • September is San Francisco's warmest, clearest month, but evenings still drop to 13–15°C, so carry a layer for outdoor events

Visa & entry

Visa-free / visa on arrival

  • Visa Waiver Program nationals — 40+ countries covering most of Europe, the UK, Japan, Australia, South Korea and others — attend Dreamforce on an approved ESTA for up to 90 days
  • The ESTA runs about US$40, stays valid for two years, and should be requested at least 72 hours before departure
  • Canadian citizens flying in for the conference need neither a visa nor an ESTA

eVisa / visa required

  • Attendees from India, China, Brazil, South Africa and other non-VWP countries need a B-1 visitor visa, which involves a consular interview
  • Dreamforce's global partner ecosystem means heavy visa demand from consulting hubs — check interview wait times at your consulate the moment you plan to attend, as several months' lead time is common

Documents to carry

  • Passport valid for the duration of your stay with your ESTA or B-1 visa attached to it
  • Dreamforce registration confirmation and your employer or partner-company details for the CBP officer's questions
  • Accommodation confirmation and evidence of your return flight

US visa policy, fees and wait times shift regularly, so confirm requirements through official US government channels or your local embassy before booking travel.

First time at Dreamforce?

  • Book your hotel the moment attendance is likely — Dreamforce empties downtown San Francisco's room supply faster than any other event on the city calendar
  • Collect your badge the afternoon before day one at the early registration windows; the first-morning queue at Moscone West can eat an hour
  • Build your session agenda in advance in the event app — popular sessions and hands-on workshops hit capacity quickly, and rooms are spread across three Moscone buildings
  • Wear comfortable shoes and expect to be outside: the Howard Street campus, complete with its famous themed landscaping, is part of the daily commute between halls
  • Keynote seating for the marquee speakers fills long before start time — go very early or use the simulcast lounges

Insider tips from repeat attendees

  • Day three is the sleeper day — the expo floor (the campgrounds) is calm, product teams have time for deep-dive conversations, and meeting rooms are easier to book
  • The real networking happens at partner-hosted happy hours and dinners around SoMa and the Embarcadero, not in session rooms; RSVPs open weeks ahead, so watch your inbox
  • Conference lunches are grab-and-go; the restaurants in Yerba Buena Lane and around Mission Street handle client meetings far better
  • Cut through Yerba Buena Gardens between Moscone North and the surrounding venues instead of fighting the Howard Street crowds at session change times

Dreamforce travel FAQs

Where should I stay for Dreamforce?

SoMa hotels within a few blocks of Moscone Center are gold — you can walk to keynotes in minutes. Union Square, ten minutes north on foot, has the deepest four- and five-star stock, and the Financial District works well at a 15–20 minute walk or short Muni ride.

How much do hotels cost during Dreamforce?

Dreamforce week produces some of San Francisco's highest rates of the entire year — downtown rooms commonly run at several times their normal September pricing, and the closest SoMa properties sell out regardless. The premium fades sharply outside the walkable core.

How early should I book hotels for Dreamforce?

As early as you possibly can — six months out is not excessive, and many regulars book when the next edition's dates are announced. Free-cancellation rates make it rational to reserve before your pass is even approved.

Which airport do I fly into for Dreamforce?

San Francisco International (SFO) is the primary gateway, with BART running directly to Powell Street near Moscone in about 30 minutes. Oakland (OAK) is a solid domestic alternative via BART, while San Jose (SJC) involves a longer Caltrain or road transfer.

What happens to the streets around Moscone during Dreamforce?

Salesforce closes Howard Street between 3rd and 4th Streets and builds it into the conference campus, so traffic in the immediate SoMa blocks is rerouted all week. If you are driving or taking rideshares, expect detours and slow drop-offs — most attendees simply walk.
