FeuerTrutz, the international trade fair with congress for preventive fire protection, runs on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 June 2027 at the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg (NürnbergMesse). It covers passive, active and organisational fire protection, from walls, facades, doors and glazing to smoke extraction, detection and extinguishing systems, escape routes and software, and is aimed at fire protection planners, official experts, architects, building engineers, authority staff and fire officers. NürnbergMesse runs the exhibition and RM Rudolf Müller Medien runs the Fire Protection Congress alongside it, with around 40 talks held in German. The 2026 edition counted 6,876 visitors, 248 exhibitors and 1,394 congress attendees, according to the organiser. FeuerTrutz is held every year in June and lasts only two days, so FeuerTrutz hotels in Nuremberg are worth booking early, especially for exhibitors who arrive for the build days. The fairground sits in Langwasser, southeast of the centre, and the U1 reaches it in eight minutes from Nuremberg Central Station. How do you get to FeuerTrutz?
From Nuremberg Airport (NUE)
- Take the U2 from the Airport station towards Nürnberg Röthenbach and change at the Central Station to the U1 towards Langwasser Süd as far as Messe; the organiser puts the total at around 25 minutes
- A taxi from the airport to the Exhibition Centre takes about 25 minutes, according to the organiser
- There is no organiser shuttle from the airport or the Central Station, because public transport reaches the venue directly
- Car hire desks at the airport include Avis, Hertz, Europcar and Sixt
By rail and road
- From Nuremberg Central Station the U1 towards Langwasser Süd reaches the Exhibition Centre in eight minutes
- NürnbergMesse points to Deutsche Bahn event offers for journeys within Germany, with fares from €16.19
- By car, the venue has fast links to the A3, A6, A9 and A73; enter Karl-Schönleben-Strasse or the special destination Messe in your navigation system
- Parking on site costs €14 a day, a parking guidance system directs you to free spaces, and electric cars can be charged in five areas of the Exhibition Centre
How do you get around during FeuerTrutz?
Getting to the Exhibition Centre each day
- Your FeuerTrutz ticket includes a VGN KombiTicket for 2nd class public transport in fare zones 100 and 200 (Nuremberg, Fürth, Stein, Oberasbach and Zirndorf), valid during the fair and only for the ticket holder
- The KombiTicket covers underground, tram, bus and regional trains, but not IC, EC or ICE trains or 1st class
- The trade fair and congress are open from 09:00 to 17:00 on both days
- Lockers in the Mitte and Ost entrance areas are free to use with a returnable coin deposit, and the coat check takes trolleys and suitcases for €3 each
Langwasser, the Old Town or Fürth?
- Hotels in Langwasser, near the fairground, keep the morning trip shortest
- The Old Town and the Central Station area have more hotels and restaurants, and the U1 runs straight from the Central Station to the Messe
- Fürth is inside the KombiTicket fare zones, so a hotel there still gives you free public transport on fair days
- If you travel with a caravan, the KNAUS Campingpark Nuremberg is within walking distance of the venue; caravans cannot park on the exhibition grounds
Do you need a visa for FeuerTrutz?
Visa-free / visa on arrival
- Germany is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
- The German Federal Foreign Office lists citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries as needing no visa for stays of up to 90 days in any 180 day period
- Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control
- ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the EU says it will announce the start date several months ahead, so check before you fly
eVisa / visa required
- Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay (type C) visa, applied for through German missions or their appointed visa centres
- Under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months and at least 15 days before travel; standard processing takes 15 days and can be extended to 45
- NürnbergMesse no longer issues invitation letters to visitors: a copy of your admission ticket is enough proof, with separate request forms for visitors from mainland China and visa support from Feustel Fairs & Travel for visitors from Türkiye; exhibitors use their stand confirmation, or the invitation letter form in the exhibitor area
Documents to carry
- A passport valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area
- Your FeuerTrutz e-ticket or exhibitor pass, printed or on your phone
- Hotel booking and return travel details, plus copies of your visa supporting documents and travel medical insurance if you need a visa

First time at FeuerTrutz?
- FeuerTrutz is a trade fair for the fire protection sector, but you do not have to prove your industry affiliation to get in, and nothing is sold to end consumers at the stands
- Tickets are sold online only and voucher codes must be redeemed in advance; nothing can be bought or redeemed on site. The organiser had not published 2027 ticket details when we checked
- A voucher gives admission for one day only, so if you plan to come on both days, check what your ticket covers
- The Fire Protection Congress is held only in German and is recognised as continuing education by many chambers of architects and engineers; it is run by RM Rudolf Müller Medien, so check its own booking details if you want to attend talks
- Children up to and including 12 get in free, but there is no childcare on site
Insider tips from repeat attendees
- The organiser's floor plan puts the trade fair in halls 4 and 4A and the congress in NCC Ost; check the 2027 plan before you go
- In 2026 the outdoor demonstration area between halls 3A and 4A ran live fire protection demonstrations at 12:00 and 15:00 on both days, and an After Work evening was held in the Messepark on the first evening
- Exhibitors build on Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 June 2027 and dismantle from 17:00 on Thursday 17 June to Friday 18 June, so book hotel nights to cover those days; NürnbergMesse charges €800 for dismantling before the official end
