FILTECH, which its organiser calls the world's largest filtration event, returns to Halls 7 and 8 at Koelnmesse in Cologne from Tuesday 16 to Thursday 18 November 2027. It is a trade show and conference for filtration and separation in one: suppliers of filter media, membranes, filter presses, dust collection, water treatment and testing equipment meet buyers from water and wastewater, air and dust, pharma, food and beverage, energy, mining, chemicals, batteries and more than 35 other markets. The 2026 edition counted 19,350 participants and 583 exhibitors, and the organiser says 60.4 percent of participants came from outside Germany. Alongside the halls run a congress with around 180 oral presentations and short courses on solid liquid separation, air cleaning and nonwovens. Koelnmesse sits in Deutz on the right bank of the Rhine, next to Köln Messe/Deutz station, so FILTECH hotels in Deutz keep the morning trip short, while the Altstadt and the Hauptbahnhof area across the river give you more choice for team dinners. By air
- Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN) is closest: the organiser gives about 12 minutes by train on S-Bahn line S13
- Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) is about 45 minutes by train and Frankfurt Airport (FRA) about 50 minutes by high speed ICE, according to the organiser
- The organiser says ICE trains connect all three airports directly with Köln Messe/Deutz station next to the exhibition centre

By rail or by car

- Visitor registration includes a print-at-home Cologne public transport ticket valid from 15 to 18 November 2027, so you can travel free within the city
- The congress and the short courses have their own registration on the organiser's site, separate from the visitor ticket
Deutz, the Altstadt or the station area?
- Deutz is the district around the fairgrounds and Köln Messe/Deutz station, so it keeps the morning trip shortest
- The Altstadt, the cathedral and the Hauptbahnhof area are across the Rhine, with more hotels and the traditional Kölsch breweries the organiser recommends for evenings
- Staying near any station on the S6, S11, S12 or S19 lines gives you a direct S-Bahn ride to Köln Messe/Deutz
- Neustadt-Nord, north west of the old town, is a quieter base on the tram network if central hotels are busy
Do you need a visa for FILTECH?
Visa-free / visa on arrival
- Germany is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
- The German Federal Foreign Office lists citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries as needing no visa for stays of up to 90 days in any 180 day period
- Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control
- ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the EU says it will announce the start date several months ahead, so check before you fly
eVisa / visa required
- Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay (type C) visa, applied for through German missions or their appointed visa centres
- Under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months and at least 15 days before travel; standard processing takes 15 days and can be extended to 45
- FILTECH's own team handles visitor and delegate questions (contact details are on the organiser's website), so ask early if your consulate wants proof of your registration or stand booking

- A passport valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area
- Your FILTECH visitor ticket or exhibitor pass, plus the printed Cologne public transport ticket if you plan to use it

First time at FILTECH?
- Tickets are sold in the FILTECH ticket shop; when we checked, the visitor page listed early bird rates of €20 for one day, €25 for two and €30 for three, while the homepage said visitor registration opens in spring 2027, so check the shop before you travel
- Your visitor registration includes access to the exhibition, the exhibition catalogue and hall plans, and the Cologne public transport ticket
- If an exhibitor has sent you a promotion code, use it in the ticket shop for an Invited Guest Ticket
- Thursday closes an hour earlier, at 5pm, so plan late flights or trains home with that in mind
- The City of Cologne charges a 5 percent hotel tax on overnight stays, the organiser notes, so check whether it is included in the rate you see
