Getting there
From Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN)
- The S19 S-Bahn runs directly from the airport station to Köln Messe/Deutz in roughly 15 minutes, no changes needed
- Trains also continue to Köln Hauptbahnhof if your hotel is in the Altstadt on the left bank of the Rhine
- A taxi to Deutz takes about 15–20 minutes outside peak hours; the airport is around 15 km southeast of the fairground
- Buy a VRS ticket before boarding or use the Deutsche Bahn app; airport ticket machines accept cards
By rail or via Düsseldorf Airport (DUS)
- Köln Messe/Deutz station sits directly beside the fairground — many ICE and international trains stop there, so check for it before defaulting to the Hauptbahnhof

- KVB tram lines 3 and 4 stop at Koelnmesse, close to the East entrance; lines 1 and 9 serve Bf Deutz/Messe on the southern side
- S-Bahn trains to Köln Messe/Deutz put you a short walk from the South entrance — check which entrance your halls use before choosing a stop
- If you stay in Deutz you can usually walk in faster than any vehicle can get through fair-week traffic
- Ride-hailing and taxis face heavy drop-off congestion on Deutz-Mülheimer Straße at opening time; arrive before 9am or use rail
Around Cologne
- KVB single and day tickets cover trams, buses and S-Bahn within the city; the KVB and DB Navigator apps sell mobile tickets
- The Altstadt, Deutz and the fairground form a compact triangle — many attendees never need anything beyond tram lines 1, 3, 4 and 9
- Taxis are metered and reliable but bridges over the Rhine back up during fair weeks, especially the Zoobrücke
