INTERMOT 2027, the motorcycle show in Cologne, runs from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 February 2027 at Koelnmesse in Köln-Deutz. Organised by Koelnmesse with the German Motorcycle Industry Association (IVM) as conceptual sponsor, the show has moved from its old December slot to February so that it opens the riding season, and the organiser's site says the 2027 edition grows from two to four halls. It is open to trade and private visitors alike on all three days: dealers, importers and buyers meet the manufacturers, while riders come to see the new season's bikes, try the indoor test track and buy gear on the spot at SHOP@INTERMOT. The December 2025 edition welcomed around 80,000 visitors. How do you get to INTERMOT?
From Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN)
- The airport railway station sits directly below the terminals, and Cologne Bonn Airport says trade fair visitors can reach Koelnmesse in 10 to 12 minutes
- The airport puts the train ride to Cologne city centre and the cathedral at 15 minutes
- S-Bahn, regional and bus lines serve the airport around the clock, and it also has its own ICE station
- Koelnmesse points to Lufthansa Group event fares and Eurowings for flights to Cologne; the INTERMOT 2027 fare code was not yet published when we checked
By rail and road
- Köln Messe/Deutz, a station served by high-speed trains, is directly next to the exhibition grounds, according to the organiser
- The organiser offers DB event fares to INTERMOT 2027 for train travel within Germany, booked directly with Deutsche Bahn
- If you drive or ride in, the organiser recommends the free NUNAV navigation app, which guides you to a free fair car park and on to nearby spaces when those are full
- Most of Cologne is a low emission zone needing a green sticker, but the organiser says the route to Koelnmesse is open to vehicles without one; its arrival map shows that route

Getting to Koelnmesse each day
- For the South entrance, S-Bahn lines S6, S11, S12 and S19 stop at Köln Messe/Deutz, and underground lines 1 and 9 stop at Köln Messe/Deutz (Underground) Station
- For the East, West and North entrances, use tram lines 3 and 4 to the Köln Messe/Deutz stop
- Your INTERMOT admission ticket comes with a free 2nd class travel ticket for the VRS network, sent by separate email; print it on A4, carry photo ID, and note that IC, EC and ICE trains are excluded
- Taxis wait at the entrances for your departure, and TAXI-RUF Cologne can be booked on +49 221 2882
Around Cologne
- The organiser notes that Germany's most heavily used railway bridge, the Hohenzollern Bridge, links Cologne main station with Köln Messe/Deutz, so central hotels stay close to the fair
- The Altstadt, the cathedral and the Schildergasse shopping street are across the Rhine from Deutz, with plenty of restaurants for evenings after the show
- The Belgisches Viertel is a lively area for dinners west of the centre, reached by tram
- February in Cologne is usually cold and often wet, so if you ride to the show, pack proper winter gear
Do you need a visa for INTERMOT?
Visa-free / visa on arrival
- Germany is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
- The German Federal Foreign Office lists citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries as needing no visa for short stays of up to 90 days in any 180 day period
- Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control
- ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the EU says it will announce the start date several months ahead, so check before you fly
eVisa / visa required
- Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay (type C) visa, applied for through German missions or their appointed visa centres
- Under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months and at least 15 days before travel; standard processing takes 15 days and can be extended to 45
- Koelnmesse says exhibitors and visitors who need a visa must present an official letter of invitation from Koelnmesse; request it through the INTERMOT visa support form, and the organiser replies within two working days
Documents to carry
- A passport valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area
- Your INTERMOT ticket, the printed VRS travel ticket and photo ID, which the travel ticket requires
- Your Koelnmesse invitation letter if you used one for a visa, plus your hotel booking, return travel details and travel medical insurance

First time at INTERMOT?
- INTERMOT 2027 is open to visitors from 09:00 to 18:00 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday; exhibitors can be in the halls from 08:00 to 19:00
- Ticket details for 2027 were not yet published when we checked; the organiser's ticket shop takes PayPal and credit cards
- Children up to 12 get in free with a parent or guardian, and 12 to 16 year olds pay the regular price and must also be accompanied
- Dogs and other pets are not allowed on the fairgrounds
- Bring riding kit if you plan to use the test track: the organiser describes a track of nearly 500 metres in Hall 11.3
