productronica, which Messe München calls the world's leading trade fair for electronics development and production, returns to Messe München from Tuesday 16 to Friday 19 November 2027. It takes place every two years in Munich and has done since 1975, so this is the next edition after the 50th anniversary fair in November 2025. The exhibition areas run from PCB and EMS, SMT, cables, coils and hybrids and semiconductor production to future production and production support, with forums, live demonstrations, a career area and the productronica Innovation Award alongside. In 2025 more than 47,000 visitors from 98 countries met over 1,600 exhibitors from 52 countries, and the organiser expects a similar visitor profile in 2027. How do you get to productronica?
From Munich Airport (MUC)
- Messe München is around 30 to 40 kilometres south of Munich Airport, depending on the route, the organiser says, and shuttle buses, public transport and taxis go directly to the exhibition centre
- During some fairs Messe München runs its own nonstop shuttle bus from Terminal 1 (areas A and MAC) and Terminal 2, about 45 minutes one way; check whether it runs for productronica 2027 before you rely on it
- S1 and S8 S-Bahn trains leave from below the airport's central area every 10 minutes for the city centre, a ride of 45 to 60 minutes depending on the route, then change to the U2 for the fair
- The organiser quotes a fixed taxi fare of EUR 90 from the airport to the exhibition centre, a journey of around 35 minutes
By rail or by car
- Long distance trains arrive at München Hauptbahnhof (Munich Central Station), where the U2 towards Messestadt Ost reaches the fair in about 20 minutes without changing
- The organiser says details of Deutsche Bahn event offers for the fair are published ahead of the event
- Messe München sits directly next to the A94 motorway, and a dynamic traffic control system directs you to the nearest free parking; for productronica, set your navigation to Entrance West (Parkhaus/Parking West)

How do you get around during productronica?
Getting to Messe München each day
- Take the U2 to Messestadt West for the main entrance West at Am Messesee 2, 81829 Munich; the U2 also stops at Messestadt Ost
- Your Print@home trade fair ticket does not include public transport, the organiser says, so buy an MVG, MVV or DB ticket for tariff zone M
- From the S-Bahn, the organiser suggests the S2 to Riem, then bus 190 to Am Messesee for Entrance West or to Messestadt Ost for Entrance East
- Visitor hours are 09:00 to 18:00 from Tuesday 16 to Thursday 18 November and 09:00 to 16:00 on Friday 19 November 2027
Messestadt Riem or central Munich?
- Messestadt Riem is the closest base to the halls and suits early meetings, but check each hotel's position on the map, as not every hotel described as near the Messe is within walking distance
- The Hauptbahnhof and the Altstadt are on the U2, so a central hotel still gives you a direct ride to the fair with Munich's restaurants and beer halls close by in the evening
- Haidhausen, around Ostbahnhof, sits between the city centre and the fair
- Going by car or taxi from the station? The organiser suggests allowing at least 25 minutes more than the U2
Do you need a visa for productronica?
Visa-free / visa on arrival
- Germany is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
- The German Federal Foreign Office lists citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries as needing no visa for stays of up to 90 days in any 180 day period
- Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control
- ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the EU says it will announce the start date several months ahead, so check before you fly
eVisa / visa required
- Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay (type C) visa, applied for through German missions or their appointed visa centres
- Under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months and at least 15 days before travel; standard processing takes 15 days and can be extended to 45
- Messe München says an official invitation letter is generally no longer needed for a trade fair visa; if the visa section still asks for one, contact Messe München's visa service or its foreign representative in your country
Documents to carry
- A passport valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area
- Your printed, personal Print@home ticket together with an official photo ID, which admission staff may ask to see
- Hotel booking and return travel details, plus copies of your visa supporting documents and travel medical insurance if you need a visa

First time at productronica?
- Ticket prices and the ticket shop for 2027 are due from summer 2027; the organiser says buying online is cheaper than at the fair and lets you go straight in
- Print your ticket: the organiser says you can only pass through the turnstiles with a printed ticket, and it is valid only with an official photo ID
- Visitor tickets do not allow re-entry once you leave the exhibition, so plan lunch and meetings inside the grounds
- If an exhibitor sends you a voucher, the ticket is free to you, and each person has to register and redeem their own
