SIGEP World, Italian Exhibition Group's world expo for foodservice, holds its 48th edition at the Rimini Expo Centre from Saturday 23 to Wednesday 27 January 2027. It is the show for gelato, pastry and chocolate, coffee, bakery and pizza professionals, covering ingredients, equipment, furniture, packaging and services, with competitions such as the Gelato World Cup Europe Selection, Bread in the City and the Italian Barista Championships on the stands' doorstep. The 2026 edition recorded 198,000 total attendance from 160 countries, with 1,300 brands across 30 halls, and Vietnam is the Guest Country for 2027. Entry is for trade professionals only. The Expo Centre sits on Via Emilia on the northern side of Rimini and has its own railway station, Riminifiera, 50 metres from the South Entrance on show days. That gives you a real choice when you book SIGEP World hotels: Viserba and the north of Rimini keep you close to the halls, while Marina Centro, the historic centre and the resorts down to Riccione put the seafront and the restaurants within reach, linked to the fair by train, bus and the organiser's special buses. How do you get to SIGEP World?
Flying in: Rimini (RMI), Bologna (BLQ) and Forlì (FRL)
- Rimini Federico Fellini Airport (RMI) is about 10 km from the Expo Centre, the organiser says, and bus line 9 runs from the airport to the Via Emilia Fiera stop; in 2026 a free SIGEP shuttle also ran from the airport during the show
- Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ) is about 120 km away on the A14 motorway; the organiser lists a Shuttle Italy Airport service from Bologna Airport to the Expo Centre on 23 to 27 January, and a daily service to Rimini station and Via Fada
- Forlì Airport (FRL), about 50 km away, has a Shuttle Italy Airport service and bus line 7 to Forlì station, where trains run to Rimini or Riminifiera
- Ancona Falconara (AOI, about 90 km) is another option, and from Milan, Rome, Venice, Treviso and Bergamo airports the organiser points you to the train, changing at Bologna Centrale where needed
By train and car
- Riminifiera station sits inside the fairground on the Milan to Bari line, about 50 metres from the South Entrance, and only opens on event days; check trenitalia.com for the trains that stop there
- From Rimini's main station, a direct SHUTTLE line 9 bus runs to the South Entrance with no intermediate stops, and the regular line 9 stops at Via Emilia Fiera; regional, Intercity and Frecce trains also link the two stations
- Drivers leave the A14 motorway at Rimini Nord, about 6 km from the Expo Centre, which has 11,000 parking spaces
- Use the South Entrance at Via Emilia 155 for your satnav; the East Entrance is on Via Costantino il Grande and the West Entrance on Via San Martino in Riparotta
How do you get around during SIGEP World?
Getting to the Expo Centre each day
- The organiser lists special buses from the areas with the most hotels to the East Entrance: shuttles A and B from Rimini Marina Centro, CE from Bellaria and D from Riccione, with timetables on the SIGEP How to reach us page
- City buses run by Start Romagna serve the fair: line 9 from Rimini station, line 5 from San Mauro Mare in the north and line 10 from Miramare in the south; these are paid services
- Metromare, the dedicated bus route between Rimini and Riccione stations, takes 23 minutes and runs about every 15 minutes, the organiser says; change at Rimini station for the fair
- During the 2026 show free shuttles ran between the South, East and West entrances and from the Park East 5 car park to the East Entrance
Where to stay in Rimini
- Viserba and the north of Rimini are closest to the Expo Centre and suit exhibitors with early stand starts; check each hotel's position on the map before you book
- Marina Centro is on the special bus routes and puts the seafront and restaurants on your doorstep in the evening
- The historic centre and the station area work well with the direct line 9 shuttle or a train to Riminifiera
- Miramare and Riccione in the south are linked by Metromare, line 10 and the special D bus from Riccione; taxis serve the fair from anywhere in town on +39 0541 50020
Do you need a visa for SIGEP World?
Visa-free / visa on arrival
- Italy is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
- Citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries can visit the Schengen Area for business without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180 day period
- Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control
- ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the EU says it will announce the start date several months ahead, so check before you fly
eVisa / visa required
- Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay (type C) visa, applied for through Italy's consulates or their appointed visa centres
- Under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months and at least 15 days before travel; standard processing takes 15 days and can be extended to 45
- SIGEP World takes visa requests through a form on its dates and tickets page, and the organiser's deadline is 18 December 2026, so apply early
Documents to carry
- A passport valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area
- Your SIGEP World trade registration and ticket, plus a photo ID
- Hotel booking and return travel details, plus copies of your visa supporting documents and travel medical insurance if you need a visa

First time at SIGEP World?
- The show is open daily from 10:00 to 18:00, the organiser says, and admission is reserved for trade professionals
- Visitor registration for 2027 had not opened when we checked; the organiser says it will open soon, and in the FAQ it recommends registering online before your visit, although you can also register at the ticket counters
- Your badge does not allow re-entry once you leave the fairground, so plan breaks inside the halls, where there are bars and restaurants
- Minors may enter only with an adult and a signed waiver; under 12s go in free, and visitors with a disability and one companion also go in free at the ticket office
- 27 January 2027, the last day, is the organiser's visit day for school groups, so expect students in the halls that day

- On show days a train to Riminifiera drops you about 50 metres from the South Entrance, often quicker than queuing for the car parks

Does booking a hotel include a SIGEP World ticket?
No. Hotel bookings and admission are separate. Tickets and trade registration are handled by the organiser, Italian Exhibition Group, and 2027 registration had not opened when we checked.
