spoga+gafa 2027, the leading global trade fair for garden lifestyle and BBQ, runs from Tuesday 15 to Thursday 17 June 2027 at Koelnmesse in Cologne. Organised by Koelnmesse with the Industrieverband Garten (IVG) as conceptual sponsor, it is open to trade visitors only: garden centres, DIY stores, furniture and outdoor retailers, e-commerce, supermarkets, distributors and buying groups. After the 2026 edition the organiser confirmed that the fair will stay in June. That edition drew around 23,500 trade visitors from 112 countries, 66 percent of them from abroad, and around 1,350 exhibitors from 50 countries, with the halls arranged in theme worlds from Living and BBQ to Outdoor Adventure, Creation & Care and the Garden Sourcing Hub. - The airport railway station sits directly below the terminals, and Cologne Bonn Airport says trade fair visitors can reach Koelnmesse in 10 to 12 minutes
- The airport puts the train ride to Cologne city centre and the cathedral at 15 minutes
- S-Bahn, regional and bus lines serve the airport around the clock, and it also has its own ICE station
- Koelnmesse points to Lufthansa Group event fares for spoga+gafa; the 2027 booking code was not yet published when we checked
By rail and road
- Köln Messe/Deutz, a station served by high-speed trains, is directly next to the exhibition grounds, according to the organiser

- The South, East and CC North entrances are open to spoga+gafa visitors, and the 2027 fair uses Halls 5 to 10
- For the South entrance, S-Bahn lines S6, S11, S12 and S19 stop at Köln Messe/Deutz, and underground lines 1 and 9 stop at Köln Messe/Deutz (Underground) Station; tram lines 3 and 4 serve the Köln Messe/Deutz stop for the East, West and North entrances
- Your admission ticket comes with a free 2nd class travel ticket for the VRS network, sent by separate email; print it on A4 or keep the PDF on your phone, carry photo ID, and note that IC, EC and ICE trains are excluded

Around Cologne
- The organiser notes that Germany's most heavily used railway bridge, the Hohenzollern Bridge, links Cologne main station with Köln Messe/Deutz, so central hotels stay close to the fair

Do you need a visa for spoga+gafa?
Visa-free / visa on arrival
- Germany is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
- The German Federal Foreign Office lists citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries as needing no visa for short stays of up to 90 days in any 180 day period
- Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control
- ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the EU says it will announce the start date several months ahead, so check before you fly
eVisa / visa required
- Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay (type C) visa, applied for through German missions or their appointed visa centres
- Under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months and at least 15 days before travel; standard processing takes 15 days and can be extended to 45
- Koelnmesse will put a form for requesting an invitation letter on the spoga+gafa visa page six months before the fair; it asks you to wait for it, as letters requested earlier are not issued
Documents to carry
- A passport valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area
- Your spoga+gafa ticket, the VRS travel ticket and photo ID, which the travel ticket requires
- Your Koelnmesse invitation letter if you used one for a visa, plus your hotel booking, return travel details and travel medical insurance

- It is a trade fair, and Koelnmesse reserves the right to check trade visitor status on site, so carry something that shows your role in the trade, such as a business card
- The 2027 ticket shop opens on the spoga+gafa site in good time before the fair and takes PayPal and credit cards
- Children under 12 get in free with a parent or guardian; from 12 they need a ticket bought by the parent or guardian and must be accompanied
- Dogs and other pets are not allowed on the fairgrounds
