Praia D'El Rey, designed by Cabell Robinson and opened in 1997, is the anchor of a beach-and-golf resort on the Obidos coast about an hour north of Lisbon. The layout splits its personality: pine-framed parkland holes inland give way to a spectacular run through towering Atlantic dunes, giving the course a genuine links feel with ocean views. Playing to a par of 73 at around 7,100 yards from the tips, it is both handsome and testing, especially when the sea breeze gets up.
