Melbourne’s Albert Park hosts Round 3 of 2027 — and for the first time, the Australian Grand Prix is a Sprint weekend, adding competitive running on Saturday to one of the best-attended races on the calendar. Home hero interest keeps demand enormous: grandstands for recent editions sold out within hours.
Albert Park is a 5.278 km temporary circuit around the lake of the same name, mixing fast flowing corners with four DRS zones. Upgrades in recent years removed the old chicane and quickened the back half of the lap, and the race has produced heavy first-lap action at Turns 1 and 3 ever since. The city-centre setting, five kilometres from the CBD, makes it one of the easiest F1 races in the world to attend.

For the most recent edition, American Express presale opened on 2 October and general sale on 6 October, and most grandstands sold out within hours. Using the latest official price list as the guide: the 4-day Park Pass (general admission) started at $385 AUD, the cheapest grandstands (Button, Clark, Vettel, Waite, Webber) at $565, mid-tier stands such as Ricciardo, Hill, Schumacher, Senna, Stewart and Lauda at $690, Brabham, Jones, Prost and Fangio at $825, and the new Piastri Grandstand on the main straight from $1,045. Single-day Park Passes ran from $45. Expect a modest uplift for 2027.

Insider tips for the Australian Grand Prix
- 2027 is Albert Park’s first-ever Sprint weekend — Saturday now has a Sprint race as well as qualifying, so a 4-day pass is better value than ever.
- Grandstands sold out within hours for recent editions. Presale access (Amex) is the single biggest advantage you can have.
- Park Pass holders: the viewing mounds near Turns 3, 9 and 11 are the fan favourites; arrive before the morning sessions to claim a rail spot.
- Early April in Melbourne is autumn — four seasons in one day is a cliché because it is true. Pack sunscreen and a rain jacket.

Getting there & where to stay
Transport
Albert Park is 5 km south of Melbourne’s CBD. Free trams for ticket holders run from the city to the circuit gates on race weekend, and the light rail and tram network covers the rest. Driving is actively discouraged — road closures ring the park all week. From Melbourne Airport, allow 40–60 minutes to the city, then tram.
