Montreal in late May is one of the great race weekends: an island circuit in the middle of the St Lawrence, a city that embraces the Grand Prix completely, and a track famous for chaos. In 2027 the Canadian Grand Prix is a Sprint weekend, adding a Saturday race to the mix.
Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve on the Île Notre-Dame is a 4.361 km stop-start layout of long straights and heavy braking zones, ending at the Wall of Champions — the final chicane that has caught out a long list of title winners. Overtaking is among the best of the season, concentrated at the Turn 10 hairpin and the final chicane, and the low-grip surface keeps degradation high and strategies open.

Tickets are sold through the official Grand Prix du Canada site (gpcanada.ca). Grandstand prices rose sharply for 2026 — several stands up more than 20% — and the popular hairpin and Senna-corner stands sell early.

From the official 2026 price list as the guide: the 3-day Grounds Pass (general admission) was $410 CAD, grandstands 46 and 47 from $440–455, grandstand 31 from $600, grandstand 34 from $620, grandstands 21 and 24 at the hairpin from $880, grandstands 11/12/15 at the Senna corner from $915, Grandstand 1 on the start line from $1,165 and the covered Platine grandstand from $1,580. Expect a further uplift for 2027.

Transport
The circuit sits on Île Notre-Dame, minutes from downtown. The Metro’s Yellow Line to Jean-Drapeau station drops you at the island, followed by a 10–20 minute walk to the gates — by far the best way in. Driving means bridge traffic and limited parking; cycling over the Jacques Cartier Bridge is a local favourite. From the airport, the 747 express bus runs to the Metro network.
