Portimão is back. The Portuguese Grand Prix returns to the 2027 calendar at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve — the rollercoaster circuit above the Algarve coast that produced instant classics in 2020 and 2021. Tickets went on sale on 21 September 2026 and the first phase sold fast.
The 4.653 km Algarve circuit is defined by elevation: blind crests, plunging downhill braking zones and a final corner that climbs onto the pit straight at full throttle. The undulation makes it a genuine driver’s track and a spectacular spectator one — from the higher grandstands you can see most of the lap laid out like a model railway. Expect wind off the Atlantic to play a role in the afternoons.

Tickets went on sale on 21 September 2026, five days after the 2027 calendar was announced, and demand was huge — the promoter reported only one grandstand left by the end of the first day. The initial release is “phase 1” pricing, so later phases will cost more.

The circuit sits in the hills about 10 km north of Portimão and 20 km from Lagos. Faro Airport is 80 km east, about an hour by car. There is no practical public transport to the track — most fans drive or use the shuttle buses the promoter runs from Portimão and Algarve resort towns on race weekend. Roads in are single-carriageway, so leave early on Sunday.
