Getting to the New Orleans Convention Center

The official name is the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, often shortened to the New Orleans Convention Center, the Morial Convention Center or MCCNO. Its main entrance is at 900 Convention Center Boulevard, New Orleans, LA 70130, at the corner of Julia Street and Convention Center Boulevard, near the Great Hall. The center's Getting Here page also uses 400 Calliope Street, which is the address of Lot F, one of the center's parking lots, so do not mix the two addresses up in your map app.

The center is on the Mississippi River side of downtown. Wikipedia describes it as spanning almost 11 blocks with about 1.1 million square feet of exhibit space, so the walk from one end to the other is long. Know which hall you need before you pick the place where you get out of the car or off the streetcar.

From Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, the RTA's 202 Airport Express bus is the public transit option. The airport says the bus stops downtown at Elk Place at Cleveland or the Union Passenger Terminal, Bus Bay 2, and that pickup at the airport is from Level 1 Baggage Claim outside Door 2, Zones B4 and B5. In January 2026 the RTA announced that, starting January 25, 2026, the 202 would serve stops on Poydras Street from Loyola Avenue to Convention Center Boulevard, which is the closest the route comes to the center. The airport's page does not list frequency or hours, so check the RTA schedule for the day. The airport page also lists links for rideshare, taxis and shuttles.

By train, Amtrak serves Union Passenger Terminal at 1001 Loyola Avenue, with the Mardi Gras Service, City of New Orleans, Crescent and Sunset Limited. Amtrak lists RTA bus lines and the Rampart Loyola Streetcar as connections. Check the RTA map for the connection from the station that suits your trip.

The Riverfront Streetcar, Route 49, is the streetcar for the center. Wikipedia describes it as a line of about two miles along the east bank of the Mississippi from the French Market to Julia Street, with stops at Canal Street, Poydras Street and Julia Street, and says the Julia Street stop serves the Port of New Orleans, The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk and the Morial Convention Center. Wikipedia also reports that full Riverfront service between the French Market and Julia Street resumed on June 1, 2025. Because we could not read the RTA's own route page, check the RTA for current hours before you rely on it.

Driving directions from the center are specific. From I-10, take US 90 Business toward the Westbank, using Exit 234A from I-10 West or Exit 234C from I-10 East. Then take Exit 11 for Tchoupitoulas Street and South Peters Street. Stay straight onto Calliope Street and turn right onto South Peters Street. The Taxi and Rideshare Zone is on the left, and parking is straight ahead. The center's parking and rideshare details are covered in the sections below.

Entrances and halls at the New Orleans Convention Center

The center names two pedestrian entrances. The main entrance is at the corner of Julia Street and Convention Center Boulevard, near the Great Hall. The Transportation Center entrance is outside Lobby G, which is where arrivals from the Taxi and Rideshare Zone enter after crossing Calliope Street. The center also lists a freight entrance at 101 Henderson Street, Docks 1 or 2, for non event freight, and a UPS drop off at 900 Convention Center Boulevard outside Lobby F for package carriers such as UPS, FedEx, USPS and DHL.

The halls are lettered A to J. The center's older area parking map shows the exhibit halls A through J lined up along Convention Center Boulevard, with Poydras Street and the Hilton Riverside at one end and Henderson Street at the other. The center's own pages place the Great Hall near the Julia Street entrance, Halls D to F and Halls I to J on the third floor, and La Nouvelle Orleans Ballroom above Halls E and F. Wikipedia says Hall A was converted into the Great Hall in 2013. The map file is old and the center is in a long renovation, so use your show's floor plan and signs.

The Great Hall is on the ground floor near the Julia Street entrance. The center describes a 60,300 square foot divisible, column free ballroom, a 25,400 square foot multiuse prefunction space, the 4,660 square foot Rivergate Room, a 3,420 square foot rooftop terrace and a 980 square foot indoor balcony. The rooftop terrace is the only outdoor area the center lists.

La Nouvelle Orleans Ballroom is a 36,000 square foot ballroom on the second level above Halls E and F, with banquet capacity of 1,800. It can be divided into sections A and B or B and C. The New Orleans Theater has more than 4,000 seats and can be divided into three acoustically separate sections. The Ma Maison VIP Dining Suite is atop Hall C, just above the Atrium.

The lobbies are your landmarks inside the building. The center's services page lists the Atrium Cafe in Lobby C, the Lagniappe Food Court in Lobby F, the Jazz City Cafe in Lobby J and the Streetcar Cafe in Lobby G. Dutch's Corner, a convenience store, is in Lobby E. The UPS Store business center is in Lobby F. Medical Services Stations are in Lobbies B, F and H, and Nursing Mothers Rooms are in Lobbies B and H. ATMs are near the Julia Street Entrance, the Atrium Lobby, the Hall E Lobby and the Hall I Lobby.

For accessibility, the center lists service ramps to entrances and elevated areas, automatic doors and passenger elevators. Wheelchairs are available on request, and mobility scooters can be rented at the UPS Store in Lobby F, with advance reservation encouraged. Service animals are permitted. The center says accessible parking is offered in nearby lots on a first come, first served basis.

Last trains and getting back late

We could not read an official RTA timetable for the Riverfront Streetcar or the 202 Airport Express, so we are not going to quote a last streetcar or last bus time. Wikipedia reports that the Riverfront line ran daily from about 6 a.m. to midnight as of January 2026, but that is not an RTA source and service patterns change, so confirm with the RTA before you plan a late return. The RTA's Rideline phone number is 504-248-3900, and the RTA publishes schedules and maps at norta.com/service and in the Le Pass app.

The simplest late night option is the Taxi and Rideshare Zone. The center says to use the designated zone and describes the pedestrian crossing across Calliope Street. Departing guests cross from outside Lobby G, so Lobby G is the lobby to head for when you leave. From Lot F, the zone is to the left of the lot entrance. Because the zone and the crossing are at the Lobby G end, look at which lobby you are nearest to when your show ends, since the building is long.

If you are going to the airport, remember that the 202 Airport Express is a bus that runs to a schedule, and the airport's page lists Elk Place at Cleveland and Union Passenger Terminal Bus Bay 2 as the downtown stops. The RTA's January 2026 notice adds Poydras Street stops between Loyola Avenue and Convention Center Boulevard. Check the schedule for your departure time, and have a taxi or rideshare as a backup if your flight is early in the morning.

Amtrak passengers should check Amtrak for departure times. Union Passenger Terminal is at 1001 Loyola Avenue and Amtrak lists RTA bus lines and the Rampart Loyola Streetcar as connections.

The best late night plan is a hotel you can walk to. Several are across Convention Center Boulevard or a few blocks away, and the hotel sections below list them. If you are staying further away, finish your evening plans before the show ends and have the rideshare app ready.

Parking at the New Orleans Convention Center

The center says ample parking is available at the center for a daily fee. Payment is cashless through the ParkMobile app, and ParkMobile reservations are available online. Overnight parking is prohibited, and the center says there are no in and out privileges. We are not quoting the fee because it can change, so check the parking page for the current fee for your date.

There are two lots to know. Lot F is at 400 Calliope Street. From Convention Center Boulevard, you turn onto Calliope, parallel to Hall F. Lot F has four EV charging stations offered at no cost. Lot G is at 355 Henderson Street. The center says its other lots are on the south end, across from Halls H, I and J, but it does not list their addresses on its text pages.

Directions to the lots from I-10 are the same as the general driving directions: take US 90 Business toward the Westbank (Exit 234A from I-10 West or 234C from I-10 East), then Exit 11 for Tchoupitoulas Street and South Peters Street. For Lot F, stay straight onto Calliope and turn right onto South Peters Street, and the lot entrance is straight ahead. For Lot G, keep right onto Tchoupitoulas, turn left at Henderson Street and make a U turn at the Convention Center Boulevard and Henderson Street intersection, and the entrance is on the right.

Both lots have ADA parking. For specific needs, the center asks guests to email parking@mccno.com. The center's parking contact is Campus Logistics at 504-582-3193. A larger vehicle fee applies for oversized vehicles, and truck marshaling for exhibitors is arranged through the event general contractor or show management.

From Lot F, the Taxi and Rideshare Zone is to the left of the lot entrance, and the pedestrian crossing across Calliope Street leads into Lobby G. That makes Lot F convenient if you are heading for the middle of the building. If your hall is at the far end, check whether Lot G or one of the south end lots is closer.

Which side of the New Orleans Convention Center to stay on

The center is a long building along the river, so hotels sit at three points. At the downtown end, near Poydras Street, the Hilton New Orleans Riverside is at 2 Poydras Street. Wikipedia says it sits next to the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and is joined by an enclosed pedestrian walkway to The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk, and also overlooks the river.

In the middle, near the Julia Street entrance, are the Embassy Suites at 315 Julia Street and the Courtyard by Marriott Convention Center at 300 Julia Street. Louisiana's tourism site says the Embassy Suites is 3 blocks from the center, in the Arts and Warehouse District. The SpringHill Suites New Orleans Downtown/Convention Center is at 301 St. Joseph Street, described as moments from the center.

Across Convention Center Boulevard are the New Orleans Marriott at 859 Convention Center Boulevard, which the Louisiana listing says is directly across the street from the center, and the Hampton Inn & Suites at 1201 Convention Center Boulevard, also listed as across the street. The center also plans an Omni Hotels & Resorts headquarters hotel with 1,000 rooms and 100,000 square feet of meeting space across Convention Center Boulevard on the site known as the Sugar Mill, at Convention Center Boulevard and Andrew Higgins Boulevard. The center's January 2025 release says opening is anticipated in 2029, so you cannot stay there yet.

Which end of the building you need decides which hotel is nearest. Check your show's floor plan, then measure the walk from the hotel to the lobby you will use.

The National WWII Museum is in the Historic Warehouse District and Mardi Gras World is at 1380 Port of New Orleans Place, both covered in the eating and evenings section. We did not verify other hotel locations, so use a map app for hotels not listed here.

Budget hotel brands near the New Orleans Convention Center: what we could confirm

The cheapest hotels near the New Orleans Convention Center are usually limited service chain hotels across Convention Center Boulevard or a few blocks away. We have not checked rates and we are not naming prices, so this section tells you where they are and what their listings say.

The Hampton Inn & Suites New Orleans Convention Center is at 1201 Convention Center Boulevard, New Orleans, LA 70130. The Louisiana tourism listing says it is across the street from the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and lists complimentary hot breakfast, free internet, an outdoor pool, a fitness center, a business center and meeting rooms.

The SpringHill Suites New Orleans Downtown/Convention Center is at 301 St. Joseph Street. Louisiana's tourism site lists it as moments from the center. The Courtyard by Marriott Convention Center is at 300 Julia Street.

To get the best value, compare the room price with the cost of parking and rideshare. A hotel across the street from the center means you can skip both, which can make a mid priced room better value than a cheaper hotel further away.

Book early for large conventions and for festival weekends such as Essence in July, when the center hosts daytime sessions. If you are booking for a team, hotels can be booked with a company invoice, and a custom quote is available.

How close are the hotels to the New Orleans Convention Center on foot?

The shortest walks are from the hotels on Convention Center Boulevard itself. The New Orleans Marriott at 859 Convention Center Boulevard is listed as directly across the street from the center. The Hampton Inn & Suites at 1201 Convention Center Boulevard is also listed as across the street. The Hilton New Orleans Riverside at 2 Poydras Street sits next to the center, according to Wikipedia, which also reports an enclosed walkway to The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk.

A little further are the hotels on Julia Street and St. Joseph Street. The Embassy Suites at 315 Julia Street is listed as 3 blocks from the center, and the Courtyard by Marriott Convention Center at 300 Julia Street and the SpringHill Suites at 301 St. Joseph Street are described as close to it. None of those listings gives a walking time, so we are not going to give one either.

Remember that walking to the center is not the same as walking to your hall. The center is about 11 blocks long, according to Wikipedia, and the hall you need could be at the far end from your hotel. Use the Julia Street entrance for the Great Hall and check the Lobby G entrance on the Taxi and Rideshare side if you need it.

The Embassy Suites listing describes restaurants and museums within walking distance, which is useful for evenings, but the listing does not name them.

The future Omni headquarters hotel will sit across Convention Center Boulevard when it opens, which the center says is anticipated in 2029. Until then, the hotels above are the main walking options.

Upmarket hotels near the New Orleans Convention Center: what we could confirm

The best hotels near the New Orleans Convention Center for convenience are the ones next to or across from it. The Hilton New Orleans Riverside at 2 Poydras Street is next to the center, according to Wikipedia, and is the city's largest hotel; Wikipedia gives its size as 1,622 or 1,700 rooms in different places, so check with the hotel. The New Orleans Marriott at 859 Convention Center Boulevard is directly across the street.

For a full service stay with suites, the Embassy Suites at 315 Julia Street is listed as 3 blocks from the center. Louisiana's tourism listing describes two room suites, a complimentary cooked to order breakfast, a nightly manager's reception, a pool, a restaurant, fitness facilities, a business center and a concierge desk, and says it sits in the Arts and Warehouse District.

The center says the city has lacked a modern, upscale headquarters hotel adjacent to the Convention Center, which is why the Omni project exists. Omni plans a 1,000 room hotel with 100,000 square feet of meeting space across Convention Center Boulevard, and the center's January 2025 release says opening is anticipated in 2029.

We did not verify guest ratings or rates, so we have not ranked the hotels. The sensible way to choose is by what you need: the Hilton Riverside for the Poydras end and the river, the Marriott for a hotel directly across the street, and the Embassy Suites for a suite and a cooked breakfast.

For a team trip, hotels can be booked for a team with a company invoice, and a custom quote is available.

Eating and evenings near the New Orleans Convention Center

Food inside the center is run by Sodexo Live, which operates three onsite restaurants, a bar modeled on a New Orleans streetcar and concession stands in the exhibit halls, according to the center. The cafes are the Atrium Cafe in Lobby C, the Lagniappe Food Court in Lobby F, the Jazz City Cafe in Lobby J and the Streetcar Cafe in Lobby G. Hours may vary by event. Dutch's Corner in Lobby E sells convenience items.

The center also has an On The Town Concierge Desk for restaurant, tour and attraction reservations. The center's services page gives a contact name and phone number for it, and the desk is a good first stop if you want a recommendation that is current.

The National WWII Museum is at 945 Magazine Street in the Historic Warehouse District, between Magazine and Camp Streets. The museum lists its exhibits and store as open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with closures on Mardi Gras Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It has an official garage at 1024 Magazine Street.

Mardi Gras World is at 1380 Port of New Orleans Place and is open seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with first admission at 9:30 a.m. and last admission at 4:30 p.m. It is closed on Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter and Mardi Gras Day. It offers a free shuttle from select hotels and downtown destinations, which you can arrange by phone.

Wikipedia says the Julia Street streetcar stop serves The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk, and the Hilton Riverside connects to it by an enclosed walkway. We did not verify specific restaurants or opening hours, so ask your hotel for a current recommendation, or look at what is within the Arts and Warehouse District on a map app.

Tips for exhibitors and visitors

Pick your lobby, not just the building. The center is long and has lobbies lettered along it. Check your hall, then pick the lobby, and tell the rideshare driver which lobby. Lobby G is the Transportation Center entrance, and the Taxi and Rideshare Zone is across Calliope Street from it.

Freight and packages go to different places. Event freight follows your exhibit pack or your general contractor's marshaling instructions. Package carriers such as UPS, FedEx, USPS and DHL use the UPS drop off at 900 Convention Center Boulevard outside Lobby F. Non event freight uses 101 Henderson Street, Docks 1 or 2. The UPS Store business center in Lobby F offers shipping, high volume copying, faxing and badge chains, and its phone number is (504) 670-8941.

Pay for parking with ParkMobile and do not plan to stay overnight in a lot, because overnight parking is prohibited and there are no in and out privileges. Reserve ahead if your show is a big one.

Free Wi-Fi is available in public areas on the network MCCNOFREEWIFI. Guest Services Ambassadors wear purple jackets and carry tablets for directions and local information. Lost and found calls go to Campus Security at 504-582-3040.

Upcoming events listed by their organizers include NOLA ChristmasFest (December 23, 2026 to January 2, 2027, venue not named on its site), Cater+Event by Informa (March 22 to 25, 2027) and NatCon (April 12 to 14, 2027). Essence Festival of Culture uses the center for daytime sessions each July, with the 2026 festival on July 3 to 5. The center's own calendar is at mccno.com/events.

The center is in a multi phase renovation that Wikipedia says runs from 2018 to late 2029, so check your show's guide for any entrance or lobby changes. Companies sending a team can book hotels with a company invoice, and a custom quote is available.
