Getting to Seattle Convention Center
The Seattle Convention Center is made up of two buildings, Arch and Summit, plus a second Arch space across the street, all in downtown Seattle. The Arch building is at 705 Pike Street, Seattle, WA 98101 and is the center's original building. Arch at 800 Pike is a second Arch space directly across the street. The Summit building, which opened in January 2023, is at 900 Pine Street. The center says Summit is about a block and a half from Arch, so a show that uses both buildings means a short outdoor walk between them. Always check which building your event uses before you set out.
Light rail is the easiest way to arrive. Sound Transit's 1 Line stops at Westlake Station in the heart of downtown, and an OpenStreetMap walking route from the station to the nearest edge of the Arch building comes out at about 0.2 mile. The center's own transportation page says trains between Seattle Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and Westlake take about 40 minutes, and the 1 Line also serves Capitol Hill, Pioneer Square and the University of Washington side of the city. Summit is farther from the station, at about 0.55 mile by the same walking routes. One hotel near the center warns that the walk from the light rail stop is uphill, which is worth knowing if you are pulling luggage.
King County Metro buses serve downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods. The center lists a bus drop off point at 800 Convention Place for Arch, and on 9th Avenue between Pine Street and Olive Way for Summit. The center also lists Seattle's South Lake Union and First Hill streetcars and the Seattle Center Monorail from Westlake Center among its transit options. The monorail takes about two minutes between Westlake Center and Seattle Center, according to the center, and the First Hill streetcar connects to Link light rail at the Capitol Hill and International District stations.
Rideshare and taxis are straightforward in downtown Seattle. The center lists private and rideshare drop off at 725 Pike Street for Arch, and on 9th Avenue between Pine Street and Olive Way for Summit. Amtrak and Sounder commuter trains use King Street Station, just south of downtown, according to the center. If you rent a car at SEA, the rental facility is off site and reached by dedicated shuttle buses, according to the center, which makes light rail a simpler first ride into the city.
Entrances and halls at Seattle Convention Center
The Arch building at 705 Pike Street has its main pedestrian entrance at the corner of 7th Avenue and Pike Street. It holds 61 meeting rooms, four ballrooms and six exhibit halls, with 205,700 square feet of heavy load exhibit space. The center's campus page counts 45,000 square feet of carpeted ballroom space that divides into four ballrooms. The center's freight page refers to Halls 4ABC, served from the Arch Garage entrance on 8th Avenue, and Halls 4DEF, served from the entrance on 9th Avenue. Arch is next to Freeway Park, Seattle's largest downtown public space.
Arch at 800 Pike is the smaller space across the street. It has 35,000 square feet of carpeted meeting space that divides into 17 rooms, and it can serve as a standalone executive conference space or join Arch for a multi floor trade show.
Summit at 900 Pine Street has its main pedestrian entrance at 9th Avenue and Pine Street. It added 574,630 square feet of event space and nearly doubled the center's capacity. The building has 62 meeting rooms, a 58,650 square foot column free ballroom that divides into three rooms, 248,590 square feet of exhibit space, 140,700 square feet of naturally lit lobby space and a 14,000 square foot outdoor Garden Terrace. Summit's heavy load exhibit space is 148,460 square feet with direct drive in access.
Public areas are open daily. The center lists Arch as open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Summit as open until 10 p.m., though those hours apply to the buildings and not to your show, so check your event's own schedule. If you arrive from the Freeway Park Garage and need step free access, the center says to take the elevator to the park level, turn right and cross Freeway Park Plaza to the Level 4 entrance of the center. The plaza is uncovered. From the Arch Garage, the center says you enter on Level 3, with an accessible elevator adjacent to Room 310.
The center also runs a street level resource hub at 810 Pike Street that helps visitors with directions and transit options. It is staffed Tuesday to Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Last trains and getting back late
Link trains run late but not all night. Sound Transit's printed 1 Line timetable for 30 September 2026 to 26 March 2027 lists the last departures from Westlake Station. Toward Lynnwood (north, via Capitol Hill, the University of Washington and Northgate), the last train leaves Westlake at 12:44 a.m. on weekdays, 12:45 a.m. on Saturdays and 11:57 p.m. on Sundays. Toward Federal Way (south, via Pioneer Square, the International District and SEA airport), the last train leaves Westlake at 12:33 a.m. on weekdays, 12:34 a.m. on Saturdays and 11:46 p.m. on Sundays. The after midnight times are listed as part of that day's service, so a weekday listing of 12:33 a.m. is a train in the early hours of the next calendar day.
On the busy downtown section where Link lines share the tunnel, Sound Transit's frequency table shows trains every 4 minutes at weekday peaks and every 5 minutes at other daytime hours, slowing to every 6 to 8 minutes late in the evening. Timetables change, and Sound Transit posts service alerts for planned work, so check soundtransit.org on the day you travel. The Sound Transit site was showing a notice on 16 October 2026 that buses would replace some 2 Line trains on 17 and 18 October for planned maintenance, which is the kind of change to look for.
For King County Metro buses, the Seattle Center Monorail and the streetcars, hours differ by line and by day. The center points riders to the operators' own timetables, and they are not repeated here. If your event runs late and you are not sure of service, plan on rideshare or a hotel within walking distance.
Rideshare is the standard late option. The drop off and pickup spots are 725 Pike Street for Arch and 9th Avenue between Pine Street and Olive Way for Summit. Uber, Lyft and metered taxis operate in downtown Seattle, according to the center. Parking garages matter for late events too. The Arch and Summit garages are listed as open from 5:30 a.m. to midnight every day, but the Freeway Park Garage closes at 8:00 p.m., so a car left there after an evening event is a problem.
Parking at Seattle Convention Center
The center has three garages. The Arch Garage is attached to Arch and the Freeway Park Garage is adjacent. Together they hold roughly 1,490 vehicles and sit just off Interstate 5. The Summit garage holds a few hundred vehicles and is available for daily parking. The center's parking page lists the entrances and clearances.
The Arch Garage entrance is at 1400 8th Avenue, on 8th Avenue between Pike and Seneca Streets, with a 6 foot 5 inch clearance. The Summit Garage entrance is at 1009 Olive Way, between 9th Avenue and Boren Avenue, with an 8 foot 4 inch clearance on the entry level and 6 foot 10 inches on other levels. The Freeway Park Garage entrance is at 1267 Hubbell Place, between Pike and Seneca Streets, with a 6 foot 9 inch clearance. The Arch and Summit garages are open 5:30 a.m. to midnight and Freeway Park from 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., seven days a week. Rates are posted on the center's page and vary by hours parked; none are repeated here.
Take a ticket on entry and keep it with you. Pay at one of the automated pay stations before returning to your car, then scan the validated ticket at the exit gate. Only major credit cards are accepted. The center says its garages fill to capacity on occasion and links to SpotHero for reserving a spot in its garages or nearby. Meeting planners can arrange validation tickets for attendees through their event manager, with arrangements made thirty days before the event.
There are four electric vehicle charging stations, in the Arch Garage on Aisle A and on Summit Level 1B. Accessible parking is offered in all three garages, with 16 spaces in Arch, 18 in Summit and 16 in Freeway Park. The Arch Garage has no elevator inside it, so wheelchair users should use the blue ramp from the ADA spaces on the Blue level. Bike parking exists on the Blue level of the Arch Garage and the purple level of Summit, but bike storage is not available inside the center.
Which side of Seattle Convention Center to stay on
Seattle Convention Center has two ends, so the answer depends on which building your event uses. Visit Seattle's meeting hotel list, published in January 2024, gives each hotel's distance to Arch and to Summit in city blocks, which is the clearest way to compare.
If your event is at Arch, the Sheraton Grand Seattle at 1400 6th Avenue is listed at 0.3 blocks from Arch, and the Grand Hyatt Seattle at 721 Pine Street is 0.5 blocks. Hotel Theodore at 1531 7th Avenue is 1.0 block. This end of the center is also closer to Westlake Station.
If your event is at Summit, the Hyatt Regency Seattle at 808 Howell Street is listed at 0.3 blocks from Summit. Hyatt at Olive 8, at 1635 8th Avenue, is 1.0 block from Summit and 1.5 from Arch. The Residence Inn Seattle Downtown/Convention Center at 1815 Terry Avenue is 1.0 block from Summit and 3.5 from Arch.
For a show that uses both buildings, pick a hotel in the middle. The Paramount Hotel at 724 Pine Street is listed at 1.3 blocks from Arch and 1.0 from Summit. Grand Hyatt Seattle and Hyatt at Olive 8 also sit between the two. The hotels farther west, like The Westin Seattle at 1900 5th Avenue (5.0 blocks from Arch, 4.3 from Summit), put you closer to Pike Place Market and the waterfront at the cost of a longer morning walk.
Budget hotel brands near Seattle Convention Center: what we could confirm
Prices change with the event calendar, so none are quoted here. These are the chain hotels in or near downtown that we could confirm, with their distances from the Visit Seattle list or the hotel's own site, so you can compare the same dates on each.
La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Seattle Downtown, at 2224 8th Avenue, is listed at 7 blocks from Arch and 6 blocks from Summit. Coast Seattle Downtown by APA, at 1301 6th Avenue, says on its own site that Sound Transit Link light rail drops you three blocks from the hotel. Hyatt Place Seattle/Downtown, at 110 6th Avenue North, is 11 blocks from Arch and 9 from Summit, so it suits an event at Summit better than one at Arch. Best Western Plus Pioneer Square Hotel Downtown, at 77 Yesler Way, is 0.9 mile from Arch and 1.2 miles from Summit, and Pioneer Square is a stop on the same Link line that serves Westlake.
Homewood Suites by Hilton Seattle Convention Center Pike Street is listed at 2.5 blocks from both Arch and Summit, and all 195 of its rooms are counted as suites. Hotel Max at 620 Stewart Street has 163 rooms and is 3.3 blocks from both buildings.
If you are booking for a team, hotels can be booked with a company invoice, and a custom quote is available for group dates.
How close are the hotels to Seattle Convention Center on foot?
Visit Seattle's January 2024 hotel list is the best source for distances, because it measures from each hotel to both buildings. The numbers below are in blocks unless marked as miles. Hotels and brands change, so confirm the current name and address on the hotel's own site.
The Sheraton Grand Seattle (1400 6th Avenue) is 0.3 blocks from Arch and 3.5 from Summit. The Grand Hyatt Seattle (721 Pine Street) is 0.5 blocks from Arch and 1.5 from Summit. Hotel Theodore (1531 7th Avenue) is 1.0 block from Arch and 2.0 from Summit. The Paramount Hotel (724 Pine Street) is 1.3 blocks from Arch and 1.0 from Summit, and Visit Seattle's member page calls it about one block from the center.
The Hyatt Regency Seattle (808 Howell Street) is 2.5 blocks from Arch and 0.3 from Summit. Hyatt's own FAQ describes the convention center as directly adjacent. Hyatt at Olive 8 (1635 8th Avenue) is 1.5 blocks from Arch and 1.0 from Summit. Motif Seattle (1415 5th Avenue) is 2.5 blocks from Arch and 5.5 from Summit. The Residence Inn Seattle Downtown/Convention Center (1815 Terry Avenue) is 3.5 blocks from Arch and 1.0 from Summit.
Westlake Station is about 0.2 mile from the nearest edge of the Arch building by OpenStreetMap walking route, so a hotel near Westlake is also close to the Arch end of the center.
Upmarket hotels near Seattle Convention Center: what we could confirm
For most event travelers the best hotel is the one closest to the building where they will spend the day. Visit Seattle's list also gives room counts, which helps if you are sizing a group.
The Sheraton Grand Seattle has 1,236 rooms and sits 0.3 blocks from Arch. The Hyatt Regency Seattle has 1,260 rooms and sits 0.3 blocks from Summit, which makes it the closest large hotel to that building. The Grand Hyatt Seattle, with 457 rooms, is a smaller option between the two buildings at 0.5 blocks from Arch. The Westin Seattle has 891 rooms at 1900 5th Avenue, about 4 to 5 blocks from either building.
For a different part of downtown, the Fairmont Olympic Hotel at 411 University Street has 450 rooms and is 4.5 blocks from Arch. The Renaissance Seattle Hotel at 515 Madison Street has 557 rooms and is 6 blocks from Arch. These numbers come from a list published in January 2024, so confirm room counts and details with the hotel before you plan a block booking.
A custom quote and a single company invoice are available if a team needs several rooms across more than one of these hotels.
Eating and evenings near Seattle Convention Center
The center lists food and drink businesses in its own buildings. At Summit, Bombo Italian Kitchen (1600 9th Avenue) serves lunch, dinner and happy hour every day, and Piroshky Piroshky (1000 Pine Street) and Monorail Espresso (1004 Pine Street) cover pastries and coffee. At the corner of 9th Avenue and Pike Street, between the two buildings, is Daawat Indian Grill & Bar. At Arch there is Dog in the Park (701 Pike Street), Espresso Caffe Dior, Pike Heat, which serves Vietnamese dishes, and Taco Del Mar, all on Level 1. The Ethioblue convenience store at the corner of 8th Avenue and Pike Street is open until 2:00 a.m. from Wednesday to Saturday and until 10:00 p.m. on Sunday to Tuesday.
Beyond the center, Seattle's downtown has plenty of options, and the center's Explore Seattle page lists the main attractions: Pike Place Market, the Seattle Art Museum, the Seattle Waterfront, Pioneer Square, the Chinatown International District, Capitol Hill and South Lake Union. Pike Place Market is about three quarters of a mile from the center by walking route on OpenStreetMap. The Seattle Center Monorail connects Westlake Center to Seattle Center, where the Space Needle, MoPOP, Pacific Science Center and Chihuly Garden and Glass are.
For a break between sessions, Freeway Park, which the center calls Seattle's largest downtown public space, sits next to Arch.
On the night of a large show, book a table ahead if you have a group.
Tips for exhibitors and visitors
Exhibitors should note that loading dock hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., unless show management requests otherwise. The Arch loading docks are reached by a two lane enclosed ramp on Hubbell Place, at 1315 Hubbell Place, between Seneca and Pike Streets. The center says the north dock has nine bays and the south dock has nine bays. The Summit docks are on Boren Avenue, at 1715 Boren Avenue, with 18 bays, and drivers should approach southbound on Boren and turn right into the dock. Do not turn left from northbound Boren.
Hand carried freight uses garage entrances. Arch North uses the 9th Avenue entrance at 1521 9th Avenue, with a height clearance of 9 feet 8 inches, which typically serves Halls 4DEF. Arch South uses the Arch Garage entrance at 1400 8th Avenue, with a 6 foot 5 inch clearance, and standard full size vans will not fit. Summit hand carried freight comes through the Summit Parking Garage on Olive Way, with an 8 foot 4 inch clearance on Level 1. Ask your show manager before you arrive about hours and approvals.
Visitors should know that the center offers complimentary public WiFi at about 1 Mbps per connection, which suits basic browsing, social media, texting and email, so do not count on it for video calls from the show floor. The center says the campus is fully accessible, and the accessibility guide is on its website.
Leave extra time on day one. The Arch and Summit buildings are about a block and a half apart, and a shuttle between them is not described on the center's pages. If your event uses both buildings, plan the walk between sessions.
For groups, hotels near the center can be booked with a company invoice, and a custom quote is available for team dates.
