The best sideline seats are the lower 100-level midfield sections 109 to 112 and 133 to 136, near the 50-yard line by sections 111 and 134; choose row M or higher to see over the benches. Atmosphere is loud and the open south end frames river-and-skyline views. It is open-air and can be cold and windy late season, and it has hosted the NHL Winter Classic, the Stadium Series and record concert crowds.

An open-air, natural-grass bowl with a distinctive open horseshoe south end, so the seating is largely closed on three sides with the open end giving a view out toward the Ohio River and Pittsburgh skyline. Built with cast-stone facing that nods to the city's industrial heritage, it uses under-soil heating and seats mostly in Steeler gold.
