Held every other year and running since 1968, it covers only water and every aspect of it, from treatment, pumps, pipes and valves to digital and smart solutions, resource recovery and urban water resilience, with the show floor divided into themed worlds and pavilions. The 2025 edition brought together more than 22,000 water professionals and 900 exhibiting companies, and the conference programme of Aquatech International Water Week runs alongside, with the Integrated Leaders Forum, the Innovation Forum and the Water Research Forum. Aquatech is for trade visitors only, aged 16 and over, and entry is free with online registration. For Aquatech hotels the main choice is between Zuidas and the streets around the RAI, De Pijp, and the city centre on metro 52 or tram 4, which stop at Europaplein in front of the RAI. How do you get to Aquatech Amsterdam?

From Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS)

  • The organiser puts RAI Amsterdam 15 minutes from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, and the RAI has its own train station
  • Amsterdam RAI station is only a couple of minutes' walk from the RAI building, with regular connections to Schiphol, Rotterdam, Utrecht, The Hague and the international rail network
  • If you are staying in the city centre, take metro 52 from Amsterdam Central Station towards Zuid to Europaplein, or tram 4 to the Europaplein stop
  • On trains, metros, trams and buses you can simply check in and out with your debit or credit card or phone, as the organiser notes

By train or car from elsewhere

  • From Amsterdam Amstel, take metro 51 to Amsterdam RAI station, or bus 65 to Scheldeplein; from Amsterdam Sloterdijk, take metro 50 towards Gein
  • From Amsterdam Zuid/WTC, metro 52 towards Noord stops at Europaplein, and from Amsterdam Duivendrecht a train towards Schiphol stops at Amsterdam RAI
  • By car, the RAI sits just off the A10 ring motorway at exit 9 and has its own underground car park; the GPS address is Europaplein, 1078 GZ Amsterdam
  • From 1 January 2026 parking costs 6 euros an hour with a 36 euro daily maximum, or 30 euros a day if you buy online in advance

How do you get around during Aquatech Amsterdam?

Getting to the RAI each day

  • Metro 52 and tram 4 stop right in front of the RAI at Europaplein and run into the heart of Amsterdam, the organiser says
  • Bus 62 also stops at Europaplein, linking the RAI with Amsterdam Lelylaan and Amstel stations
  • Metro lines 50 and 51 and trains stop at Amsterdam RAI station, a couple of minutes on foot from the building
  • The organiser suggests the 9292 door to door journey planner, useful for comparing hotels outside the centre

Choosing where to stay

  • Hotels in Zuidas and around the RAI keep you closest to the halls, which helps on the shorter final day, when the show closes at 16:00
  • De Pijp and the city centre give more choice for evenings, with metro 52 or tram 4 to Europaplein each morning
  • If you fly out on the Friday afternoon, a hotel near Schiphol or Amsterdam RAI station keeps the airport run short
  • The organiser names RAI Hotel Services as its sole official accommodation partner; Event Escapes is independent and shows live rates across many Amsterdam hotels

Do you need a visa for Aquatech Amsterdam?

Visa-free / visa on arrival

  • The Netherlands is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
  • Citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries can visit the Schengen Area for business without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180 day period
  • Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control at Schiphol
  • ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the EU says it will announce the start date several months ahead, so check before you fly

eVisa / visa required

  • Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay visa, applied for at the Dutch mission (embassy or consulate) in the country where you live
  • The organiser warns that a visa application may take up to 6 weeks, so arrange it as soon as possible; under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months before travel
  • RAI Amsterdam can supply a visa invitation letter: register as a visitor first, then use the link in your registration confirmation; requests need a company email address, as free accounts such as Gmail, Outlook, Hotmail and Yahoo are not accepted, and the letter does not guarantee a visa

Documents to carry

  • A passport issued within the last ten years and valid for at least three months after the date you plan to leave the EU
  • Your Aquatech e-ticket, which can be scanned from your smartphone at the entrance
  • Hotel booking and return travel details, plus your RAI invitation letter, visa supporting documents and travel medical insurance if you need a visa

Entry and visa rules change; check current requirements with the Dutch embassy or consulate, or official EU sources, before you book.

  • Your visitor badge is valid on all exhibition days, and e-tickets can be scanned from your phone at the entrance
  • March in Amsterdam can be cold and wet, so bring a warm, waterproof layer for the walk between the metro, the RAI and dinner
