Horecava 2027, the largest hospitality trade fair in the Netherlands, takes place from Monday 11 to Thursday 14 January 2027 at RAI Amsterdam and marks the show's 70th anniversary. Held every year since 1957, it brings together owners, chefs, buyers and decision makers from restaurants, bars, hotels, catering, fast service and leisure, and the organiser counted more than 65,000 visitors and 700 exhibitors across nine halls at the 2026 edition. Horecava is trade only, for visitors aged 18 and over, and entry is free for professionals in its target group. For Horecava hotels the main choice is between Zuidas and the streets around the RAI, De Pijp one stop north on metro 52, and the city centre, which the organiser puts about 6 minutes from the RAI by metro. Exhibitors should also allow for build-up, which starts the week before. This page shows live hotel rates near RAI Amsterdam for your dates. How do you get to Horecava?

From Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS)

  • The organiser puts the journey from Schiphol to RAI Amsterdam at 15 minutes by car, train, taxi or bus
  • Amsterdam RAI station, which the organiser places about 300 metres from the venue, has regular trains to and from Schiphol
  • If you are staying in the city centre, take the train from Schiphol to Amsterdam Centraal, then metro 52 south to Europaplein, in front of the RAI
  • The organiser gives an indicative taxi fare of about 45 euros between the RAI and Schiphol, and you can pay on trains, buses, trams and the metro by checking in and out with a contactless card or phone (OVpay)

By train or car from elsewhere

  • Amsterdam RAI station has connections with Rotterdam, Utrecht, The Hague and other parts of the Netherlands, according to the organiser
  • From Amsterdam Amstel, take metro 51 to Amsterdam RAI station or bus 65 to Scheldeplein; from Amsterdam Sloterdijk, take metro 50 towards Gein
  • The organiser strongly advises leaving the car at home because parking pressure around the RAI is very high during Horecava
  • Parking cards for the RAI garages are not sold for Horecava; instead you can reserve covered parking in hall 5, or park at P2 Arena, where free shuttle buses drop you at the RAI entrance within 10 minutes

How do you get around during Horecava?

Getting to the RAI each day

  • Metro 52 runs every 5 minutes from Amsterdam Centraal to Europaplein, right outside the RAI, and the organiser puts the metro trip to the city centre at about 6 minutes
  • Tram 4 and bus 62 also stop at Europaplein; the organiser puts the tram ride to the city centre at about 25 minutes
  • Metro lines 50 and 51 and trains stop at Amsterdam RAI station, a few minutes on foot from the complex
  • Horecava uses halls 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12, with entrances C, K and F; follow the signs outside and the staff directions

At the show and around Amsterdam

  • The organiser puts a taxi between the RAI and the city centre at about 10 minutes, longer in rush hour, and gives indicative fares of about 25 euros to the centre and 30 euros to Amsterdam Centraal
  • Cash machines are in the RAI entrances, and the organiser suggests withdrawing cash beforehand to avoid queues
  • Free wifi is available throughout the show, and there is a paid cloakroom
  • January in Amsterdam is cold and often wet, so bring a warm, waterproof coat for the walk between the metro, the RAI and dinner

Do you need a visa for Horecava?

Visa-free / visa on arrival

  • The Netherlands is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
  • Citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries can visit the Schengen Area for business without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180 day period
  • Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control at Schiphol
  • ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the EU says it will announce the start date several months ahead, so check before you fly

eVisa / visa required

  • Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay (type C) visa, applied for in the country where you live through a Dutch embassy or consulate or its appointed visa centre
  • Under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months and at least 15 days before travel; standard processing takes 15 days and can be extended to 45, so for a show in early January apply in the autumn
  • The IND lists going to a trade fair as a business purpose; the Horecava pages we checked do not mention a visa invitation letter service, so contact the organiser early if you need one

Documents to carry

  • A passport issued within the last ten years and valid for at least three months after you leave the Netherlands
  • Your personal Horecava e-ticket and valid photo ID: tickets are in your name and ID is checked at the entrance
  • Hotel booking and return travel details, plus copies of your visa supporting documents and travel medical insurance if you need a visa

Entry and visa rules change; check current requirements with the Dutch embassy or consulate, the IND, or official EU sources, before you book.

First time at Horecava?

  • Horecava is open only to decision makers in hospitality, fast service, catering, accommodation and leisure, not to the public; the minimum age is 18, and children and babies are not allowed, even with an adult
  • Registration for 2027 opens in mid November 2026: invited professionals receive a code by email, others in the target group can request a free code, and anyone else can buy a ticket, which the organiser lists at 95 euros excluding VAT
  • Register each person separately with their own email address; tickets are personal, cannot be passed to a colleague, and you can register until 14 January 2027
  • One ticket is valid on all four days, and e-tickets can be scanned from your phone at the entrance
  • Opening hours are 10:00 to 18:00 from Monday 11 to Wednesday 13 January and 10:00 to 17:00 on Thursday 14 January

Insider tips from repeat attendees

  • Exhibitors: build-up starts on Wednesday 6 January 2027 and breakdown runs until Saturday 16 January, so stand teams may need hotel nights well beyond the four show days

  • The theatre runs a programme of symposia alongside the fair, and the organiser says the 2027 programme goes live at the end of October; check it, and the Horecava Awards winners announced on the opening day, before you choose your days
