Where should you eat during Europort?

Rotterdam Ahoy sits in Zuid, about 10 minutes by metro (Zuidplein) from the city center, so most visitors eat in the center or on the Kop van Zuid/Katendrecht waterfront on the way back. Rotterdam's modern-architecture food halls and Michelin rooms make it the Netherlands' most exciting eating city after Amsterdam.

How do you get to Europort?

From Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) and by train

  • Schiphol has the widest choice of international flights; the venue says IntercityDirect trains reach Rotterdam Centraal in around 25 minutes
  • From Rotterdam Centraal or Rotterdam Blaak, change to the metro towards Zuidplein; Ahoy says the journey from Rotterdam Centraal takes about 10 minutes by metro, train or taxi
  • Zuidplein metro and bus station is a five minute walk from the venue, the organiser says
  • By taxi, the venue puts Schiphol to Ahoy at about 50 to 60 minutes depending on traffic

From Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTM) and by car

  • Rotterdam The Hague Airport is the closest airport; the venue says a taxi to Ahoy takes around 20 minutes
  • By public transport, the airport says RET bus 33 runs to the airport directly from Rotterdam Centraal, or from Meijersplein on metro line E, and takes you there within 30 minutes
  • By car, take the Ahoy-Zuidplein exit from the Rotterdam South ring road (A15) and follow the signs to Ahoy
  • The organiser expects limited parking at the venue; a day ticket costs 20 euros booked online in advance with guaranteed parking, or 21 euros paid on site

How do you get around during Europort?

Getting to Rotterdam Ahoy each day

  • The organiser encourages visitors to come by public transport because parking at Ahoy is limited
  • The Rotterdam City Card gives unlimited RET bus and metro travel for 1, 2 or 3 days, including the lines to and from Ahoy
  • There is a taxi stand on the Ahoy forecourt where taxis usually wait, so you do not need to book, and an Uber pick up point next to the forecourt
  • If you drive in and stay overnight elsewhere, the venue charges the parking fee again, so it suggests parking at your hotel and coming in by public transport

Choosing where to stay

  • The few hotels around Ahoy and Zuidplein keep you closest; the organiser names ibis Styles Rotterdam Ahoy as within walking distance of the venue
  • The city centre and the area around Rotterdam Centraal give the most choice of hotels and restaurants, with the metro to Zuidplein for the final stretch
  • Kop van Zuid, on the south bank of the Maas, sits between the centre and Ahoy
  • The organiser points visitors to its HotelMap booking page; Event Escapes is independent and shows live rates across many Rotterdam hotels so you can compare

Do you need a visa for Europort?

Visa-free / visa on arrival

  • The Netherlands is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
  • Citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries can visit the Schengen Area for business without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180 day period
  • Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control
  • ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the EU says it will announce the start date several months ahead, so check before you fly

eVisa / visa required

  • Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay visa, applied for at the consulate of the Netherlands, as the country you will visit
  • Under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months before travel, and at least 15 days before
  • Apply as early as you can; if you are exhibiting, ask the organiser or your stand contact what supporting letter they can provide

Documents to carry

  • A passport issued within the last ten years and valid for at least three months after the date you plan to leave the EU
  • Your Europort visitor registration or exhibitor pass details
  • Hotel booking and return travel details, plus visa supporting documents and travel medical insurance if you need a visa

Entry and visa rules change; check current requirements with the Dutch embassy or consulate, or official EU sources, before you book.

First time at Europort?

  • Europort is a professional event open to visitors aged 18 and over, and visitor registration for 2027 opens in May 2027, the organiser says
  • Admission is paid for most visitors: the organiser lists an early bird rate of 40 euros until 30 September 2027 and a standard rate of 50 euros until 31 October 2027, with a later on site rate after that; its FAQ also mentions free entry with an exhibitor invitation, so ask your exhibitor contacts
  • Opening hours for 2027 are 10:00 to 18:00 on Tuesday and Wednesday, 10:00 to 21:00 on Thursday and 10:00 to 16:00 on Friday
  • Coats and valuables can go in the staffed wardrobe, and there are paid lockers too
  • Early November in Rotterdam is often cool, wet and windy, so pack a warm waterproof for the walk from Zuidplein

Insider tips from repeat attendees

  • Hotels close to Ahoy are few, so central Rotterdam with the short metro ride to Zuidplein is often the practical choice for a four day show
  • The Thursday late opening runs to 21:00, so if you are staying for the evening networking, book that night as well rather than catching a late train out
  • Europort alternates between Rotterdam (odd years) and Istanbul (even years); if you see Europort dates for 2026 or 2028, they are for Istanbul
