Getting there
From LAS (Harry Reid International Airport)
- Mandalay Bay is the closest major Strip resort to the airport - roughly 2.5 miles, often under 10 minutes by car outside peak times
- Taxis use zoned flat fares to Strip resorts, roughly US$21-29 depending on the hotel; the south Strip zone is the cheapest
- Uber and Lyft pick up from the designated rideshare areas (Terminal 1 parking garage level 2 and Terminal 3); expect surge pricing on the Monday before keynotes
- RTC public buses connect the airport to the Strip and downtown for a few dollars, but with luggage most attendees find a taxi faster for the short hop
Driving and regional arrivals
- Southern California attendees often drive: Las Vegas is about 4-5 hours from Los Angeles via I-15, though Sunday-evening inbound traffic can add an hour or more
- Most Strip resorts now charge for both self-parking and valet, so factor US$15-30 per day into a driving budget

- If you stay at Mandalay Bay, Delano or Luxor you can reach the convention centre entirely indoors - the most valuable commute in Las Vegas during an April conference
- The free Mandalay Bay Tram links Excalibur, Luxor and Mandalay Bay along the south Strip, so hotels near the Excalibur/MGM corner remain practical
- The Las Vegas Monorail does not reach Mandalay Bay - its southern terminus is MGM Grand, about a 20-25 minute walk away
- Ride-hail drop-off queues at Mandalay Bay back up before the morning keynote; leaving 30 minutes earlier than the map app suggests is realistic
Around Las Vegas
- The RTC Deuce bus runs the length of the Strip around the clock; a 24-hour pass costs under US$10 and is bought via the rideRTC app
- Walking distances on the Strip deceive - blocks are enormous, and 'two hotels away' can mean 25 minutes on foot
- Taxis and ride-hail are plentiful but slow at conference peak hours (8-9am and 5-7pm); pedestrian bridges are often quicker for short hops
- April evenings are pleasant but daytime sun is strong; use the air-conditioned casino corridors that link many resorts

- Citizens of the 40-plus Visa Waiver Program countries - including the UK, most EU states, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand - can attend on an approved ESTA for business stays up to 90 days
- ESTA costs about US$40, is applied for online and is valid for two years; approval is usually quick but apply at least 72 hours before flying
- Canadian citizens need neither a visa nor an ESTA for a short business visit - a valid passport is sufficient; the US has no visa-on-arrival scheme for anyone else
eVisa / visa required
