Where to stay for HD Expo + Conference 2027: the closest hotels to Mandalay Bay Convention Center are in Las Vegas Strip (South) and Las Vegas Strip (Center), with Downtown Las Vegas a short ride away. The fair runs 4 May to 5 May 2027 and rooms near the venue sell out first, so book a free-cancellation rate early. Add your company name and tax number at checkout for an itemised tax invoice.

HD Expo + Conference is the leading North American trade fair for the hospitality design industry, bringing together interior designers, architects, hotel owners, operators and product manufacturers of furnishings, lighting, textiles and finishes. It is held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center at the south end of the Las Vegas Strip, a large, modern venue attached to the Mandalay Bay resort. For a hotel-booking traveller, the south-Strip location shapes the best places to stay: a free tram links Mandalay Bay to Luxor and Excalibur, and from there the monorail and rideshare reach the rest of the Strip. Staying at or near the south-Strip resorts keeps the commute to the halls short, while the wider Strip offers thousands of rooms within a rideshare or shuttle hop. Because HD Expo draws a large design-industry crowd that can overlap with other conventions, well-located rooms fill and rates rise, rewarding early booking.

Popular areas for attendees: Las Vegas Strip (South) · Las Vegas Strip (Center) · Downtown Las Vegas.

  • The Mandalay Bay Convention Center is attached to its resort, so staying on the south Strip means a walk or short tram ride to the halls.
  • HD Expo draws a large hospitality-design crowd that can overlap with other Las Vegas conventions, tightening room supply.
  • Las Vegas hotel rates climb during major show weeks, so early booking locks in better value.
  • Choosing a south-Strip hotel connected by the free tram avoids Strip traffic and parking hassles on show mornings.

Getting there

From Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)

  • Harry Reid International (LAS) is very close to the south Strip, roughly 5-10 minutes to Mandalay Bay by taxi or rideshare.
  • Taxis and rideshare (Uber/Lyft) have designated pickup zones at the airport.
  • There is no direct train from the airport, so most visitors use taxi, rideshare or hotel shuttle.
  • LAS is a major hub with extensive domestic and international connections, so most attendees fly in directly.

Getting to the venue on the Strip

  • A free tram connects Mandalay Bay with Luxor and Excalibur every few minutes, useful if staying at those resorts.
  • From Excalibur/MGM Grand you can reach the Las Vegas Monorail for travel up the east side of the Strip.
  • Rideshare and taxis drop off at the Mandalay Bay main entrance; allow extra time at peak hours.

Getting around during HD Expo + Conference

Tram, monorail and bus

  • The free south-Strip tram links Mandalay Bay, Luxor and Excalibur, ideal for HD Expo attendees at those resorts.
  • The Las Vegas Monorail runs along the east side of the Strip from the MGM Grand station northward to the convention district.
  • The RTC Deuce bus runs the length of the Strip and to downtown as a budget option, though slower in traffic.

Taxis and rideshare

  • Taxis and rideshare are plentiful; resort rideshare pickup points are sometimes in parking structures, so allow extra minutes.
  • Expect surge pricing and queues around Mandalay Bay at show open and close.
  • Walking between adjacent south-Strip resorts is often faster than driving during peak traffic.

Visa & entry

Visa Waiver Program / ESTA

  • Citizens of Visa Waiver Program countries can visit the US for business or tourism for up to 90 days with an approved ESTA travel authorization.
  • Apply for ESTA online well before travel and carry a passport meeting US validity and e-passport requirements.
  • ESTA covers attending a trade show as a business visitor, but confirm your activities fall within permitted visitor rules.

B-1/B-2 visitor visa

  • Travellers from countries not in the Visa Waiver Program generally need a B-1 (business) or B-2 (tourist) visa obtained in advance.
  • Visa interviews at US embassies or consulates can require long lead times, so apply early.
  • Bring documentation such as show registration or an invitation if requested at the consulate or on arrival.

Entry rules change; confirm current requirements with the United States embassy or official immigration site before booking travel.

First time at HD Expo + Conference?

  • HD Expo is a trade event, so register in advance and bring business credentials.
  • Staying at Mandalay Bay, Luxor or Excalibur puts you on the free tram right to the convention center.
  • Las Vegas is in the desert, so carry water and expect big swings between air-conditioned halls and the heat outside.
  • Wear comfortable shoes; the convention center and Strip resorts involve a lot of walking.

Insider tips from repeat attendees

  • Use the free south-Strip tram from Luxor or Excalibur to reach the halls without traffic or parking.
  • Schedule off-site meetings for early or late in the day, as midday Strip travel is slow during conventions.
  • Leave the venue a little before the closing rush to beat the taxi and rideshare surge.
  • If you want central-Strip nightlife, factor in the tram-plus-monorail or rideshare time back from the south end.
