How do you get to GreenTech Amsterdam?

From Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS)

  • The organiser puts RAI Amsterdam 15 minutes from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, and the RAI has its own train station
  • Amsterdam RAI station is only a couple of minutes' walk from the RAI building, with regular connections to Schiphol, Rotterdam, Utrecht, The Hague and the international rail network
  • On trains, metros, trams and buses you can simply check in and out with your debit or credit card or phone, as the organiser notes
  • For up to date information on track work, the organiser points to the NS travel information page, worth checking before a June trip

By car

  • RAI Amsterdam sits just off the A10 ring motorway at exit 9 and has its own underground car park; the GPS address is Europaplein, 1078 GZ Amsterdam
  • From 1 January 2026 parking costs 6 euros an hour with a 36 euro daily maximum, or 30 euros a day if you buy online in advance
  • During major events, signs along the ring road direct drivers to car parks on the edge of Amsterdam, with a shuttle bus to the RAI
  • You cannot drive up to the entrance, but you can drop someone off at Lodge P7 in the middle of the complex by following P RAI 7

How do you get around during GreenTech Amsterdam?

Getting to the RAI each day

  • Metro 52 and tram 4 stop right in front of the RAI and run into the heart of Amsterdam, according to the organiser
  • Amsterdam RAI station, a couple of minutes on foot from the building, serves trains as well as the metro
  • The organiser suggests its door to door journey planner, useful for comparing hotels outside the centre
  • The digital floor plan is on the GreenTech website and on a sign at the entrance, and the general RAI map is on rai.nl

Choosing where to stay

  • Hotels in Zuidas and around the RAI keep the walk to the halls short, which helps if you are at the fair on all three days
  • De Pijp and the city centre give more choice for June evenings, with metro 52 or tram 4 to the RAI each morning
  • A hotel near Schiphol suits a short trip, since trains run between the airport and Amsterdam RAI station
  • The organiser offers its own hotel booking through RAI Hotel Services; Event Escapes is independent and shows live rates across many Amsterdam hotels

Do you need a visa for GreenTech Amsterdam?

Visa-free / visa on arrival

  • The Netherlands is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
  • Citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries can visit the Schengen Area for business without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180 day period
  • Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control at Schiphol
  • ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the EU says it will announce the start date several months ahead, so check before you fly

eVisa / visa required

  • Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay visa, applied for at the Dutch mission (embassy or consulate) in the country where you live
  • The organiser warns that a visa application may take up to 6 weeks, so arrange it as soon as possible; under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months before travel
  • RAI Amsterdam can supply a visa invitation letter: register as a visitor first, then use the link in your registration confirmation; requests need a company email address, as free accounts such as Gmail, Outlook, Hotmail and Yahoo are not accepted, and the letter does not guarantee a visa

Documents to carry

  • A passport issued within the last ten years and valid for at least three months after the date you plan to leave the EU
  • Your GreenTech e-ticket, on your phone or printed; an invitation card is not a ticket until you validate its code online
  • Hotel booking and return travel details, plus your RAI invitation letter, visa supporting documents and travel medical insurance if you need a visa

Entry and visa rules change; check current requirements with the Dutch embassy or consulate, or official EU sources, before you book.

First time at GreenTech Amsterdam?

  • GreenTech Amsterdam is open only to trade visitors; the minimum age is 14, and this also applies to accompanied minors
  • If you receive an invitation from an exhibitor, validate the code or link online to get your e-ticket by email, as the invitation itself is not a ticket
  • Your visitor badge is valid on all exhibition days, so one registration covers the whole fair
  • Opening hours for 2027 were not yet published when we checked; in 2026 the fair opened 10:00 to 18:00 on the first two days and 10:00 to 16:00 on the last day
  • Plan your visit with the exhibitor list, the digital floor plan and the online GreenTech Connect platform, and check the knowledge programme for talks on your crops

Insider tips from repeat attendees

  • The GreenTech Innovation Awards winners are announced on the opening day, so Tuesday is a good day to see the shortlisted products
  • If you plan to drive, buy a parking day ticket online in advance: it costs 30 euros instead of the 36 euro daily maximum on the day
  • Your visitor badge covers all three days, so a hotel for the full fair lets you spread meetings out and catch talks on more than one stage
