PTE World, the airport industry's exhibition and conference formerly known as Passenger Terminal Expo, returns to RAI Amsterdam from Tuesday 6 to Thursday 8 April 2027. Organised by UKi Media & Events, part of Closerstill Media, it brings together airports, airlines, aviation authorities, governments, consultants, architects and suppliers, with more than 450 exhibitors showing everything from airside and ground handling equipment to security, retail, passenger experience and sustainability. Alongside the expo runs the paid PTE World Conference, with over 400 speakers across three days, and the Skytrax World Airport Awards are presented on the Wednesday evening. The organiser speaks of more than 11,000 professionals at the expo. The expo is free for industry professionals who register; the conference needs a separate delegate pass. For PTE World hotels the choice is between Zuidas and the streets around the RAI, De Pijp and the city centre on metro 52 or tram 4 to Europaplein in front of the RAI, or Schiphol, a short train ride from Amsterdam RAI station. How do you get to PTE World?

From Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS)

  • Amsterdam RAI railway station is 300 metres from the RAI, with direct trains to Schiphol, Amsterdam Zuid, Amsterdam Amstel and Duivendrecht, the organiser says
  • Follow the RAI Amsterdam signs when you leave the station
  • If you are staying in the city centre, metro 52 runs from Amsterdam Centraal or Amsterdam Zuid to Europaplein, in front of the RAI, and tram 4 also stops at Europaplein
  • On trains, metros, trams and buses you can check in and out with your debit or credit card or phone

By train or car from elsewhere

  • From Amsterdam Amstel, take metro 51 to Amsterdam RAI station, bus 62 to Europaplein or bus 65 to Scheldeplein; metro 50 between Sloterdijk and Gein also stops at Amsterdam RAI
  • Schiphol, Amsterdam Zuid and Amstel stations link to the international InterCity network, according to the organiser
  • By car, the RAI sits beside the A10 ring road at exit 9, with signs from the A1, A2 and A4
  • The venue has 3,200 parking spaces, up to 5,000 during large events, but the only way to guarantee a space is to book through the RAI's own system

How do you get around during PTE World?

Getting to the RAI each day

  • Metro 52 and tram 4 stop at Europaplein, and you exit the metro in front of the RAI's door, the organiser says
  • Metro lines 50 and 51 and trains stop at Amsterdam RAI station, 300 metres from the building
  • The expo opens 09:30 to 18:30 on Tuesday and Wednesday and 09:30 to 15:00 on Thursday, with registration from 08:00
  • The conference starts at 09:00 each day, so delegates staying in the centre should allow time for the morning metro

Choosing where to stay

  • Zuidas and the streets around the RAI keep you closest to the halls, useful for the 08:00 registration and evening events
  • De Pijp and the city centre give more choice for dinners, with metro 52 or tram 4 to Europaplein each morning
  • If you fly out on the Thursday afternoon, a hotel near Schiphol or Amsterdam RAI station keeps the airport run short, as the expo closes at 15:00
  • The organiser names RAI Hotel Services as its official accommodation partner; Event Escapes is independent and shows live rates across many Amsterdam hotels

Do you need a visa for PTE World?

Visa-free / visa on arrival

  • The Netherlands is in the Schengen Area; EU, EEA and Swiss citizens travel with a passport or national ID card
  • Citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries can visit the Schengen Area for business without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180 day period
  • Non EU travellers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, fully operational since 10 April 2026, with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border, so allow extra time at passport control at Schiphol
  • ETIAS, the EU's planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, was not yet in operation when we checked; the EU says it will announce the start date several months ahead, so check before you fly

eVisa / visa required

  • Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen short stay visa, applied for at the consulate of the Netherlands, as the country you will visit
  • Under EU rules you can apply no earlier than six months before travel, and at least 15 days before
  • The organiser issues visa invitation letters once you have registered, and starts processing them 16 weeks before the event; exhibitors and speakers apply through its visa department

Documents to carry

  • A passport issued within the last ten years and valid for at least three months after the date you plan to leave the EU
  • Your PTE World expo registration or conference delegate confirmation
  • Hotel booking and return travel details, plus the organiser's invitation letter, visa supporting documents and travel medical insurance if you need a visa

Entry and visa rules change; check current requirements with the Dutch embassy or consulate, or official EU sources, before you book.

First time at PTE World?

  • Visitor registration for 2027 is open: the expo is free for industry professionals, while the conference is paid and can be booked for one, two or three days
  • PTE World is for industry professionals only, and no one under 16 can attend
  • With more than 450 exhibitors, the organiser warns one day may be a stretch, so use the official event app to plan meetings
  • Thursday is a short day: the expo closes at 15:00 and the conference at 13:30
  • April in Amsterdam can be cool and wet, so bring a waterproof layer for the walk between the metro, the RAI and dinner

Insider tips from repeat attendees

  • The opening day party starts at 17:00 on the Tuesday and the Skytrax World Airport Awards from 17:30 on the Wednesday, so plan your evenings around them
  • Suppliers pay a small fee for the conference, according to the organiser, so check the delegate rates for your category
  • If you plan to drive, book parking through the RAI in advance: it is the only way to guarantee a space
